Cellophane on or off?
I was curious as to what most of you guys/girls do. When you take your sticks out of the box and into your Humidor, do you leave the cellophane on or take it off. I would think that taking it off would help with humidity and age, but I could be wrong.

Re: Cellophane on or off?
It is a matter of preference.
Oh, and just so you know, if you go to the search function, select advanced search and the search on the just word "cello" in the thread title, you will find at least 8 threads that have discussed this before. It is a common question, but no sweat. It is a fairly good one to learn about the search function, however. |
Re: Cellophane on or off?
Chris,
I keep the cellophane on. I just clip the end of the cellophane with scissors to allow more moisture and air to flow through the cigar while in the humidor. For me it appears that the cellophane helps hold moisture in the cigar and it prevents flavors from mixing. That is just me though. Everyone will have their own ways of keeping their smokes happy. Enjoy! :2 -(P |
Re: Cellophane on or off?
It's been asked alot. The way I look at it is with the cello on there's more protection. The humidity will be just fine with it on or off. It could also be a visual cue of age. The cello with start to change color the longer it's been on a cigar.

Re: Cellophane on or off?
cello is on the cigars for protection; protects the cigars from losing moisture in shipping, protects cigars from damage when handled, etc. I leave the cello on if i plan on smoking the cigar within a few days...I take it off for long term storage. Just a matter of preference as others have said.

Re: Cellophane on or off?
When I was a total nub I couldn't resist taking the cello off just to sniff. Many of those sniffers I still have 8 years later but they have small wrapper chips in em, and that special smell you get from aged cello is gone....and that bronze color. I took an 10 yr old Torano out of its tanning cello yesterday and it had a merlot aroma. My vote is leave em on.

Or you could always just buy CC's and never have to ponder that question :tu

Re: Cellophane on or off?
I like to take my cello's off, turn them inside out, then put them back on in order to imbue the cedar residue directly to the cigar.
