½ cup softened butter 1 cup sugar 1 egg 2 ¼ cups sifted flour 1 tsp cream of tartar 1 tsp baking soda ¼ tsp salt 1 tsp crushed anise seed in a bowl cream the butter. Gradually blend in the sugar and crushed anise seed. Beat in egg. Gradually blend in the sifted flour, cream of tartar, baking soda and salt. Using a teaspoon drop battr onto an ungreased baking sheet, two inches apart. Bake in a 350 degree oven until golden brown. Remove from baking sheet and allow to cool on a wire rack. |
