Too nice to smoke?
Does anyone else have a pipe that they're reluctant to smoke because it's too nice? I have a Christiano that I bought from a BOTL here that is simply beautiful, but I don't smoke it much 'cause I don't want to spoil it. I've smoked it only twice and it smokes wonderfully.

I have a few that fit this. I picked them up and they have sat since.

Re: Too nice to smoke?
I know how you feel. I have a couple that are strickly indoor pipes, due to a fear of rim char, but they are all meant to be smoked.

Re: Too nice to smoke?
Not here. A pipe can be a piece of art, but part of the beauty of this art is the functionality. Smoke up!

Re: Too nice to smoke?
Every pipe I have no matter the cost gets smoked. I buy them to smoke. But thats your choice I know people who do the same. What ever you do as long as you enjoy it be smoking or just looking thats what counts.

Re: Too nice to smoke?
One, yes. It's a small Charatan straight pot from the mid 50s that is unsmoked. I just could never bring myself to smoke it, it's older than my dad and still looks new.

Re: Too nice to smoke?
If it smokes wonderfully, go for it. I'd say smoke it on "special occasions".
My dad has a Meer he got while overseas in his travels to the Korean war. Its never been smoked and its mine when he passes away. I will never smoke out of ot though. |
Re: Too nice to smoke?

Re: Too nice to smoke?
All very good advice! I think I'll try to smoke it more often. :pi
It's kinda funny, I collect fountain pens and I tell others the same thing; a pen isn't happy unless it's being used. |
Re: Too nice to smoke?
No matter how nice a pipe looks, to enjoy it to it's fullest you must smoke it!!

This is a pipe SMOKERS forum, after all. Pipes that are saved would be correctly discussed in a pipe SAVERS forum. In fact I do have one pipe, a Paolo Becker cherrywood, that I cannot get my self to stuff with tobacco. Sometimes you just need to watch a new pipe for a while. But that's not the same as saving it. Is it? |

Re: Too nice to smoke?
An unsmoked pipe is kind of like the one ring to rule them all, it will start looking for someone who appreciates it and will use it for it's intended purpose. ;)
Smoke the bad boy. Peace of the Lord be with you. |
Re: Too nice to smoke?
