Nose Burn

How do you guys avoid that "nose burn" when you tilt the cigar at certain angles. You can't breathe with it in your mouth, because you inhale the heat almost and it really burns the nostrils. Is there any way around this, as I see many people posing with cigars in their mouths?

Also, unrelated what does BABOTL stand for? I know BOTL=Brother of the Leaf but what is BA?

Thanks -(P

BABOTL=Bay Area Brother's of the Leaf. Bay Area is in the SF Bay Area. Come say hello to us here if you'd like to some time. http://www.cigarasylum.com/vb/showth...32981&page=111

I hate the "nose burn" as well. I know some guys are always truckin along with a stogie in between their teeth like it's nothing at all. I don't get it. The 2nd hand smoke rising from the foot burns the hell out of my nose.

1. Tycho Brahe fan club FTW.
2. BABOTL = Bay Area BOTL, eg: Northern CA San Francisco Bay and surrounding areas.

I just inhale it and live with the burn. Probably not the smartest thing. Then again I don't make it a point to keep the cigar in my mouth unless I'm doing something that keeps my hands tied up.

It's not like I had a large list of people with metal noses to pick from.

I'd forgotten about that.

And what are you referring to?

Tycho Brahe had the better part of his nose cut off in a sword duel so he wore a metal prosthetic.

How do you avoid nose burn from a hot cigar ==> have a prosthetic metal nose.

Yes, I have a very strange sense of humor.

The more you do it, the more you get used to it.

Ya know, a metal nose would act as a heat sink and transfer the heat to the face. I think that a silicone nose "cosy" would work better. :r

Well then, the metal nose isn't needed at all. All you need is no nose. Unless the metal nose doubles as an ashtray.

That's almost exactly it. The whole joke was a very Laugh In-esque borderline non sequitur visual to me. Two men in early Victorian dress sitting around smoking, cigars burning down (yes, I know, borderline stretch of history here, just run with it), one violently over-reacts to the nose burn from his cigar, and says something like "Don't you just hate it when that happens?" The other responds, "Never a problem for me" and reveals himself as Tycho Brache as he pops the end of his nose off and sets it on the table and continues to smoke. The first man turns back toward the camera, drops out of character, breaks the 4th wall, and says something like "I never NOSE he could do that..." and gives a goofy facial expression while they cue the laugh track and cut to another scene.
