Top 5 Sticks of All Time

Although I have only been seriously torching stogies for a short time, I decided to compile my Top Five Favorite Sticks. Those that know me are well aware of my fondness for maduros and what a maddie whore I have become over the past 5-6 months (:D thanks JK...high five). Here are my favorites in no particular order:

http://i672.photobucket.com/albums/v...o/IMG_1188.jpg

Alec Bradley Tempus Imperator
CAO MX3
Camacho Triple Maduro
Davidoff Maduro
Arturo Fuente Cuban Corona Maduro

Been on the lookout for the new Alec Bradley Tempus Magistri Maduro, which might bump one of these off the list (was supposed to be released 01 Nov 09), no luck yet). :tu

What are your Top Five Favorites??

Re: Top 5 Sticks of All Time

I don't know if I could narrow it down to 5. I've been introduced to a lot of tasty sticks through bombs and trades. Let's see:
Kristoff maddie
Bucanero Full Sail
DPG Series JJ maddie
MoW Ruination
Sancho Panza Double Maduro

But then there's DPG Black or Blue label, Illusione cg:4, Tempus, Perdomo Oscuro, Gurkha Doble Maduro, RP Vintage 90, RP OWR, Padron 64, Padilla 32, XX handrolls from Habana Reserve in Albany, NY; ITSF, Taboo Twist, Goviado... You get the idea. :r

Oh trust me Jeff...if I wanted to expand...

DPG JJ Series Maduro
Perdomo Lot #23 Maduro
Sancho Panza Double Quixote Maduro
Kristoff Maduro
Padron 2000 Maduro
Arturo Fuente Hemmingway Maduro
J Fuego 777
Xikar HC Havana Colorado
Tampa Sweethearts #500 Maduro

Notice the pattern?? :r:r:r I could keep going and going..that is why I nailed it down to five.

Lots of good ones on your list, that Camacho is definitely on mine. I would have to do a lot of thinking for all 5 but no doubt the LGC Serie R 6 & 7 are both on there up top.:banger

I like these, too. According to the latest CI catalog they're being discontinued due to a trademark issue. :(

I'm assuming it's just an issue with the band or name. Hopefully, they'll get rebranded and rereleased.

EDIT: Yep, according to The Stogie Guys, it's being rebranded as the Gran Habano SL3 due to a trademark dispute with a new smoke from Altadis.

Re: Top 5 Sticks of All Time

hmm my NC list would include, in no particular order:

AVO XO
Tatuaje brown label
Casa Fuente or Opus X
La Riqueza
Bobalu vintage Dominican

That's just what I've been enjoying lately. My top 5 is constantly changing, as I suspect most people's are.

I've only been smoking seriously for about 6 years but it's dramatic how much my tastes have changed. I started out enjoying sweet, full bodied maduros. My favorite cigar was the ERdM robusto larga maduro. I didn't like Fuente, AVO, or Tatuaje (now my top 3) and most cigars I purchased were at least 50+ ring gauge.

The most dramatic revelation for me was buying a box of CCs for the first time. My expectations were high, but that first box of Boli PCs exceeded them 10 times over. I went through a period where I only smoked Cubans and nothing else even came close.

I still prefer the flavor profile I get from most full bodied Cubans, but for the past few years I've been buying a lot of NC singles too. My intent was to try and find cigars that came close to the flavors I like so much in CCs.

What I found was very surprising. The NCs that appeal to me now are the exact opposite of what I started out enjoying. I've decided that mild is not a bad thing. Hell, compared to many of the popular NC brands out there, I think Cubans are very mild. Connecticut wrappers taste good to me now. Fuente and AVO are some of my favorite cigars, and I used to think they were overpriced and bland. In fact, there are more Dominicans on my top 5 than Nicaraguans. Occasionally I'll pick up a robusto, but I rarely smoke anything over 46 RG.

I have no idea what my preferences will be 6 months from now, or 2 years down the road, but always having something fresh and new to smoke is part of the fun of this hobby.

cheers! :ss

High Five Mac.. I will claim responsibility for pushing you down the slope. I will not claim the AB though. That goes to ferg. I think I'm the only guy on this site who is not a fan.

Yeah, I was wondering how a new smoke trumps an existing brand, but I'm glad they'll still be making them. Plus, CI has great pricing on the 3 Siglos due to the "closeout."
