Aluminum Foil Wrapping

So we have all seen the cigars that come wrapped in Aluminum Foil (The Illusions have one out right now) along with older cigars like some clear Havanas. I also note that many custom rolls come wrapped in Aluminum foil (or some type of foil like wrapping paper) and some marketing ploys like the Boli GM's and Tat Blacks came wrapped in some type of foil. Now I have heard that this is one of the prime ways of retaining humidity but what side effects does it have? Is it some type of marketing ploy and is cello infact better for holding in the humidity? Does the Aluminum impart any sort of metalic flavours to the cigar? Just curious as I am thinking of putting aside some singles to age and was wondering if I should wrap them in Aluminum foil, leave them be, wrap them in newspaper, or in old cello? what do you guys think? Also the same question could be applied to loose bundles

Thanks

Less air exchange = slower aging = better aging

Foil wrapping only works if the foil is sealed and airtight. The Tatuaje Blacks that came in the jar are airtight foil wrapped. This serves as a unique fermentation process, allowing the cigars sealed inside the ferment in their own aromas to create a more unique aroma and flavor. When cigars sit in a cabinet, the air is exchanged alot, this is a different way of storage in a way.

With foil wrapping air exchange never happens until the foil is opened. Once the wrapping is opened, the process is shot.

Cello however is permeable to moisture so you need to keep cello wrapped cigars humidified. Cigars sealed in foil theoretically can be left out and till retain the moisture inside, but you will want to keep them out of the heat.

If you want them to taste like newspaper then just smoke a newspaper . Store them as they came is what I've always heard and done .
