Band of Brothers on Blu Ray is absolutely the raddest way to spend time in front of your home theater. Really looking forward to this--I feel like the Pacific theater doesn't get as much attention (though the Eastwood movies did give them some). Possibly because Nazis/Germans are the go-to tv/movie villain?

I think this mainly has to do with a 1:1 battle in the most part in the pacific. Europe was a true world war. The Pacific was small in comparison and the ending was quick. Then take into account that Japan quickly rebuilt and became a strong US alley. But I agree, the Pacific deserves more face time as it was a brutal war fought by brave soldiers too.

I will be watching this. I will be owning this. I will be rewatching this. Nuff said.

I've watched my DVD set of Band of Brothers maybe 40 times. I've watched the blu-ray set another dozen times.

Never gets old. Greatest pieces of film in my generation. Period.

All of it. The Pacific was not a 1 on 1 affair. Japan had been at war with China for much longer and was at with the Commonwealth forces. Russia also jumped in at the end. I don't think i'd call the battles of Midway, Guadalcanal, Okinawa, Iwo Jima, Leyte Gulf, small affairs. It wasn't shorter, it began in 1942 and ended in 1945 . And it took not one, but two Atomic bombs to get them to surrender. And the Japanese surrendered after the Germans so i'm not sure i'd call the ending quick.

The Russians has a few border wars with the Japanese after the war in Europe ended, not much else. Although Japan invaded China and drew massive response from the Soviets, this was not the 1942-45 Pacific war, this happened in the late 30's. Also European "participated" in the Paicific but was too busy picking up the pieces to really get involved, the support was small. I think the war in Europe was much bigger than that in the Pacific. I am not playing down the Pacific war (of 1942-45), just giving a reason why it does not get as much coverage. It does boil down to Japan vs. USA though. Sure the Aussies had people in their, I believe so did the Thailand, but the vast vast majority of forces can from two countries. The war in China is even more unreported/filmed then the other wars. Millions of Chinese died at the hands of the Japenese and this gets almost no coverage.

There are tons of movies about the Pacific theatre

Sands of Iwo Jima
Guadacanal Diary
Back to Bataan
Flying Tigers
Bridge over the River Kwai
Pearl Harbour
30 Seconds Over Tokyo
Father Goose
From Here to Eternity

Just to name a few off the top of my head. I am sure you can think of others
