Pleasure Denial - Choosing a lesser cigar

I keep finding myself avoiding my best smokes and just grabbing yard gars. I know I could have a great La Flor Dominicana or Tatuaje, but instead I grab a 5 Vegas. I guess I'm trying to burn some excess stock. Maybe during these hard times I'm trying to save my best stuff for the future. Is this a hoarding behavior that I need a shrink to solve? :r

Does anyone else put off the enjoyment of a great smoke for a mediocre cigar for no apparent reason?

Because life is short
I like to smoke the good ones
Then I can buy more

I wouldn't say "for no apparent reason." I'll smoke the lesser stick to free up room, because I am pressed for time, or in an environment where I can't enjoy a supa-dupa premium to it's fullest...

I just smoke whatever.
I try to smoke what I like, but in the interest of trying new things I tend to smoke a crappy cigar now and then.
In the summer I smoke lots of cigars and keep a humi outside. It's always full of cheap smokes that I like a LOT and I smoke a lot of them because they're handy.

The angst is pretty much gone. Along the way it was pointed out to me that if I died this evening, I'd feel pretty stupid about letting that "special" cigar sit when I'd had so many opportunities to smoke it.
I don't have any "special" cigars left. I smoked them.
Now I just smoke whatever I want. :tu

I find myself doing this on occasion. I'm trying to stop it though.

I try to save my few ISOMs for special occasions, other than that I pick what strikes my fancy at the time.

I used to, but not anymore. Why wait for a special occassion? Smoking a great cigar is a special occassion.

I'll toss a cigar if it doesn't taste good, so I try to choose something that I know I will enjoy.

I try to save the few ISOMs that I have because I don't know where or when I'll be able to get another.

I used to do this as well, but then realized I won;t know if I want more if I don't smoke the ones I have now.

I suggest trading up! that's what I did. Trade some lesser boxes/bundles for a fiver of premiums. In fact that's how I've been able to smoke many Opus and anejos without ever having to hunt them down.

I'll smoke cheaper or less desirable stogies if I want to try something new or if Im afraid the conditions arent right to enjoy a fine cigar, i.e. Im rushed or my allergies are acting up. I do have special cigars though.

I just smoke what I want....unless I have a specific celebratory event (then I may have one or two set aside), I don't save certain cigars. I don't want to die and realized I smoked a shitty cigar because I was saving a premium one that day.
