Top 10: Most Embarrassing Sports Records

Came across this list and thought my fellow sports enthusiasts inmates would enjoy.

No.10 - Most Career Interceptions: Brett Favre 310

No.9 - Most Career Fumbles: Warren Moon 161

No.8 - Most NHL Penalty Minutes By A Goalie: Ron Hextall 113 in 1988-89 700 PIMs in his NHL career

No.7 - Lowest Career +/- Rating: Robert Stewart -260 career +/- rating, essentially meaning he was on the ice for 260 more even-strength goals against than goals for

No.6 - Most Career Ejections: Bobby Cox 143 times average of once every 29 games

No.5 - Most Technical Fouls In A Season: Rasheed Wallace 41

No.4 - Fastest To Be Knocked Out: Des Sowden four seconds into the first round

No.3 - Most Errors In A Career: Herman Long 1,096 errors in 1,881 games 117 miscues in 137 games in his rookie season

No.2 - Most NASCAR Races Without A Win: J.D. McDuffie 653

No.1 - Biggest College Football Loss: Cumberland College Bulldogs

Prior to the 1916 college football season, Cumberland folded its football team, but due to a scheduling obligation, they needed to suit up once more to play its game against Georgia Tech or risk a $3,000 fine. Cumberland’s baseball team had run up the score 22-0 on GT earlier that year, so Tech head coach John Heisman (of Heisman Trophy fame) wanted to teach Cumberland a lesson. Tech led 126-0 at halftime, but Heisman didn’t take his foot off the gas. The GT quarterback passed for nearly 1,000 yards, and Cumberland was thoroughly embarrassed 222-0 in the most lopsided college game in history.

I find number 4 to be the most amazing....four seconds? That's crazy....and number 1 is sad....hopefully the losing team had fun out there.

Not that I really consider most penalty minutes to be embarrassing, but also notably Hextall was the first goaltender to ever score a goal.

...and then he was the first goaltender to score a goal in a playoff game

Actually Hextall was the first goalie ever to shoot for a goal...Billy Smith was the first NHL goalie ever credited with a goal:

Quote:

November 28, 1979: While playing the Colorado Rockies in Denver, an errant pass by Rockies defenseman Rob Ramage went down the length of the ice and into his own net. The puck had deflected off of Smith's chest and into the corner where Ramage had scooped it up. It was indeed a delayed penalty situation early in the third period. This made Smith the first goalie to be credited with a goal. It was originally given to Islanders defenseman Dave Lewis but it wasn't until the tape was reviewed after the game that it was determined that Billy Smith was actually the last Islander to touch the puck. New York still lost 7-4.
I was shocked to hear Billy wasn't the career penalty minutes leader too.

I guess things like this helped out Ron:

I was aware of the Billy Smith thing but I don't have to tell you that you only scored if you were the one who put it in. :r

I agree in general, but the NHL stats tell a different story. :)
