The Green Comet

I don't know if there are any stargazers here but tonight a green comet called Lulin could be visible to the naked eye. It'll be passing close by Saturn which is at the constellation Leo's hind leg. Here is an article about it.

If it is a clear sky tonight enjoy!! :cool2: :tu

is there a website that says when it will be visible for certain areas and where to look? (not sure if that is a dumb question?)

Fat chance of clear skies, but I will look for it with binoculars if I can. I've seen all the major comets in my lifetime.

This is the southern sky at 2300 hrs. Lulin is center left, below Leo.

It's not a dumb question. It is visible anywhere in the northern hemisphere. I'm not sure of the time because of the different time zones but if you can find Saturn you should be able to see it. BC-Axeman was kind enough to post a picture of some of the constellations. Saturn is at the constellation Leo's hind leg. If it helps, Planets are usually the brightest stars in the sky. I hope this answered your question.

I won't stay up that late. If I can see it in the SE at about 9-9:30 then that will be my chance. Regulus is a very bright star and Saturn is bright too. Lulin will be between the two, a little closer to Saturn.

I have a sheet of high clouds covering the sky here. I can barely see the jets come through it.

Re: The Green Comet

its clear here...but I dont see anything that looks like a green cloud, and have no clue where to look if it isn't something that should be pretty easy to spot
