thoughts of days of old

On another board people are discussing wineadors and I chimed in about my Vinotemp I've had for 10+ years. As I sat there thinking about it, I couldn't help but get a huge smile on my face.

This vinotemp was a gift from a handful of members here. I can't remember if it was in the CS days or the very first bit of CA. It was back when we had the poker room and a separate chat program. I hope all of those OG cats are doing well with where ever they are in life. Jordan #2, silverfox, craig (the guy from the northern most town in Canada before you hit the north pole). Luckily a couple of the other old farts are actually on the other boards so I get to say hi to them from time to time.

That does bring back memories friend. I started with a vinotemp way back in the earliest days of CA. Kept it til the cooling part went out. Then with Shilala's help I bought a compressor driven Frigidaire and converted it to a humidor.

I am using an older 28 bottle vinotemp that I picked up from markem, and I love it — I have had it for several years and it keeps my cigars perfectly.

The cooler part/fridge part went out on mine as well. Luckily the temps dont really get above 70 in the condo and it holds humidity like a champ so I have no need to replace it. I'm debating if I move to coolers once I have this filled with CC boxes or if I get another wineador and stack them. I always thought that would look BA

I have very fond memories of the chatroom, used to spend all day in there on the old site

Also still have and use the old Vino, bought at Target when they discontinued it probably 2009 and took half off everything they had in stock. I bet the temp control would work if I plugged it in, but never found the need for it

This brings up memories of criss-crossing eastern Massachusetts hunting down vino's at Target locations for a vinotemp group buy of sorts.

Fun times! :tu

Thanks for the trip down memory lane. Pretty excited when I first joined Club Stogie and really appreciated the invite from Poker to join the Asylum when the "Team of Eleven" demonstrated what great brothers of the leaf they were and took on this monumental venture. Is that dust in my eye?

I still wonder about several of the originals, like Al, Bao, and others.

I still see Bao from time to time when I'm in Boston.

I miss Al -- came across a photo of him from one of my herfs the other day. Last I knew he was in Houston.

I remember when the original founder of Club Stogie was active on the board. Things were a lot more intimate and different before all of the Facebook groups, hundreds of auction sites, every vendor selling online, etc. At a certain point, most folks either lose interest and drop out, liquidate for financial or health reasons, or stop posting due to smoking less or lack of need for info.

Still have the name plate he made for all of us on my small travel humi, he said something along the lines of these things all look the same at herfs so a little sticky plaque is the best way to tell them apart. A couple weeks ago I was thinking of a small gift to give a friend for his wedding and was reminded of Al's gift, ended up buying my friend a five stick caddy with a custom name plate

Haven't seen him on any board for years, unless he (A) changed his user name or (B) blocked me. :D

I wanna say his name was Sean or maybe he spelled it Shawn? I'm not positive but that name for some reason sticks out. He was good peoples, I enjoyed his banter.

I believe SilverFox was banned for some shenanigans or other. Don't remember the details but he was very active once upon a time.

Really!? That's disappointing. I had nothing but amazing interactions with him.

Here are some ways to resize depending on what you are posting from before uploading to Imgur.

If iPhone or iPad -
Here is an app that will help you do it:
If you want to do it without an app here is a way to set that up (this is the way I resize before uploading to imgur:
https://www.howtogeek.com/726913/how...hone-and-ipad/

If Android (should be usable on Android tablets and potentially Chromebooks) -
Here is an app that will help you do it:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/d...nview.XnResize

If Mac -
https://support.apple.com/guide/prev...e-prvw2015/mac

If PC -
Here is an article that walks you through using Paint and some third party apps. I’ve used IrfanView in the past and it worked well.
https://www.howtogeek.com/354015/how...os-in-windows/

Once you’ve settled on a way, you’ll need to pick a width dimension. I use 600p as that seems to preserve a photo enough and not break the forum tables. Less than that will work too.

Good luck! If you run into a problem I can try to work it out with you - probably through messaging.

Great info, Geoff!

One note about irfanview. Control-r brings up the resize window. Select “lock aspect ratio” and then use a percentage to scale. Must easier IMO.
