R.I.P. DacRip / DC Current

I originally met DC here on the forums, although he was never very active on CA. A few folks here knew DC in person from some of the Ohio area herfs. He mostly kept to himself, but I stayed in touch with him and we herfed from time to time when I was in town. I counted him as a true friend, the kind you know would answer your call at 3 am and agree to help, without even knowing or caring about the details.

We didn't agree on religion, politics, and a whole basket of other things, but true to the CA spirit we never let that get in the way of sharing a cigar and engaging in lively discussion about the things we could agree on.

I hadn't seen him online in a while and his phone was disconnected, so I did some digging and learned that he passed away on Sept. 27th. I don't have any more information than that.

This one is in your honor my friend, rest in peace:

His user name is not familiar to me, Francis.
I'm very sorry for your loss. And to any others here who may have known him.

I spent the better part of 20 minutes combing through the inmate list trying to find him. Either he had a different username here than I remembered, or deleted his account (if that's even possible). We had kept in touch via skype the last few years.

If you have an email address for him, I can search on that.
Feel free to PM me if you'd like me to look.

DC was "fencefixer" here...I know he was at the 2012 Shack, and at least one other.

Yeah, I stayed at his house one year during shack (I think 2012).

I know he stopped by shack I think last year (2014).

Man, this is very sad. He was at last year's Shack (Saturday night I believe) he didn't stay long. I had asked about his son (who passed away, but I didn't know that) he just kind of shrugged and said it is what it is.

Then someone....maybe Dan or Hugh told me his son had passed...I felt terrible.

R.I.P. DC you were a great BOTL

I see he last logged on in Aug. of this year, now that Mick has informed us his boy passed...makes this even worse.

I had the privilege of a trade from him and a conversation regarding said trade. Always a stand up guy. A great loss for our community.

I don't think his boy ever passed. The obituary indicates he was survived by all three of his sons, including Drake. Drake is the one with Dravets syndrome, a terminal condition.

I saw that also...all pretty heartbreaking.

DC definitely told us Drake had passed at the Shack, Francis, so maybe they were just honoring him in the obit?

Weird, now I guess IDK. I talked to him every month or two on Skype and he never mentioned it, which I find strange if true. I know his father-in-law Charles Current passed last year in July shortly before Shack, was a tough time for DC's wife Kristen. It was at his beach cottage that we had stayed in 2012 for Shack.

Oh my God...I met him at the last Shack I was at (2013) and had a hilarious fun time talking with him. May he rest in peace, and may his family successfully navigate these tough times.
