One for three gets you to Cooperstown. :tu

Re: I dropped the RH in my humi.....
I like my cigars drier than the 65% I try to keep my wineador at. I have an order in with Ed for a custom humidor set up for Boveda... I might keep it stocked with 62s the entire time and make it my box for go-to "ready to smoke" sticks.
Plus I'm pretty much all full in my wineador as is! :r |

Re: I dropped the RH in my humi.....
I try to keep my sticks between 60-65 and just love them that way. Enjoy!

Re: I dropped the RH in my humi.....
I hear ya, Mike. I keep mine at 62. If I could keep my cc's down around 58, I think I'd like that better. That's too low for the nc's, so I try to keep it happy midland.

Re: I dropped the RH in my humi.....
Well then if I ever get my fridge to level out, I believe I will try adjusting the HCM beads to 62 myself.:tu
|
Re: I dropped the RH in my humi.....
And last fall I just went up from 65 to 68. Been purring there happily for some time now.
|
Re: I dropped the RH in my humi.....
I keep mine at 62.5 .. because I'm a douche and I can. :D
I used to keep them around 68 and just didn't work out for me not to mention that sometimes it was harder to keep them lit and we all know you should never relight a cigar, I don't know if keeping them lit was an issue because of the humidity but overall I'm much happier with them in the 62.5 range. |
Re: I dropped the RH in my humi.....
62-65 is my sweet spot
|
Re: I dropped the RH in my humi.....
I dropped the soap once. Once...
|
Re: I dropped the RH in my humi.....
Haven't had a working hygrometer in years, but I'm probably around that same low 60s. I also don't plug the drain hole. Everything smokes and tastes excellent :ss
|
Re: I dropped the RH in my humi.....
Ditto. 62% seems optimum. 60% on the island cigars
|
Re: I dropped the RH in my humi.....
58 to 60
|
Re: I dropped the RH in my humi.....
Mine is around 71.43% at the top of the Coolidge and 67.4% at the bottom. Works good enough
|
Re: I dropped the RH in my humi.....
Have kept mine at 63% for years...sticks seem to smoke a lot better for some reason. I'm with Stearns, haven't used a hygrometer in years...smoking great, straight burns...must be doing something right. :D
|
Re: I dropped the RH in my humi.....
Well I have been keeping mine at 66-70. I will be rethinking it after my run in with mold. I am thinking probably the 62-65 range will be my new target range.....

SMOKE BEST AROUNDV 62% I KEEP THEMP about 62F |
Re: I dropped the RH in my humi.....
Funny that I found this thread as I just drop my cabinet to 63 after finding the sticks to have a hard draw. I figured they were over humidified.

That's actual RH, not whatever a hygrometer may be reporting. I have to take into consideration how accurate the hygrometer is, and what it's normal deviation is. Mind ya, that 80% used to be the old rule of thumb. Now Health Agencies are saying that if the RH stays above 70% indoors for extended periods of time, mold will almost certainly grow. Notice that this stuff doesn't jive with the 66-70RH you mentioned. That suggests that your hygrometers are wholly inadequate, way off, or flat out broke. Lowering your setpoint is an excellent idea, but you may not be going low enough to make up for how screwed up your hygrometer is. Good Luck, brother!!! :tu |

Re: I dropped the RH in my humi.....
my humi is at RH 68%; if I want to smoke at 62% can I pull one out and let sit before smoking? How long (average) should it sit out?
thanks! |

Having said that, leaving them out for couple of days or dry-boxing them for a couple of days should be enough. |

I was thinking of trying for a couple hours and see if that makes a difference before smoking without causing cracking damage. |
Re: I dropped the RH in my humi.....
I would guess a couple hours would have minimal noticeable effects, I would try overnight. But experimenting is part of the fun, so give a couple different time frames a shot and see what works best :tu

No he is not.
There's lots of reasons why he's getting away with it, but I'm too tired to type. He'll pay the piper one day. Plus I'm still gonna kick his nuts. :D |
