Fifth Annual Fantasy Football for Stakes and the Troops
Gentlemen, I've sent invites to all last year's players.
Deadline for registration will be August 9th, I'll start hunting for replacements on August 10th. Everything will be much the same, although we'll be changing the pass to an epass which will be much more managable and less expensive to mail around. That'll be explained in the near future. We did a lot of work to level the weight of position scoring last year, we'll look it over again this year and see if there are any other improvements we can make. I'll send pm's as more info becomes available. I look forward to seeing everybody again this year!!! Scott |
Re: Fifth Annual Fantasy Football for Stakes and the Troops
I'm in Scott!
|
Re: Fifth Annual Fantasy Football for Stakes and the Troops
Get signed up, brother!!! :tu
The entry fee this year will be 5 cigars valued at 65 bucks plus 5 troop smokes. For betting purposes, we're gonna suggest everyone send a couple troop bundles (40-50 smokes). Hopefully someone can find a really good deal on some bundle smokes and let everyone know. Can you keep track of the bets and troop smokes again this year? Pretty please? :) |
Re: Fifth Annual Fantasy Football for Stakes and the Troops

Re: Fifth Annual Fantasy Football for Stakes and the Troops
Doin pretty good so far!!!
If any of you guys can get ahold of the guys that haven't signed up or responded in this thread, please give them a shout. I get home from vacation on the 10th, at which time I'll hunt for replacements for those that haven't signed up. I'll also transfer some info into this thread that's pertinent from last year. |
Re: Fifth Annual Fantasy Football for Stakes and the Troops
Just got back from vacation and signed up.
|
Re: Fifth Annual Fantasy Football for Stakes and the Troops
Okay, guys. I just deleted TJarv, Grain Belt and Smokin Jenks teams. I haven't heard anything from any of them.
I'm going to start vetting replacements, I'm sending Stephen an invite right now. :tu |
Re: Fifth Annual Fantasy Football for Stakes and the Troops
Who do I send entry/betting sticks too? I'm looking to send them asap, to make some room for other purchases I got coming in lol.

Re: Fifth Annual Fantasy Football for Stakes and the Troops

Re: Fifth Annual Fantasy Football for Stakes and the Troops
Ill get in touch with Mark and see if he wants to play again this year.
|
Re: Fifth Annual Fantasy Football for Stakes and the Troops
If you need more players, I'd be down to rejoin the league this year.
|
Re: Fifth Annual Fantasy Football for Stakes and the Troops
I got Travis' sticks already. He's not messing around. :tu
If anyone needs my address, drop me a pm. Otherwise I'll get it to you all before too long. Without boring you guys with the details, I'm trying to get stuff done in an orderly fashion. :) Wish me luck! I should also mention that I sent out invites to a handful of our brothers who I thought might be a good fit. Just waiting on responses. Then we can see what happens at Shack. Also, Jeremy has played a lot of times, so I'm going to get back to him as soon as I find out what shakes out of the moves we've already planned. That's part of the orderly fashion I mentioned, so I guess I decided to bore you guys anyways. :D |
Re: Fifth Annual Fantasy Football for Stakes and the Troops
are we going to get atleast 2 more people before the Live Draft tomorrow night?
|
Re: Fifth Annual Fantasy Football for Stakes and the Troops
Nope. We're going with 8, Travis.
|

Re: Fifth Annual Fantasy Football for Stakes and the Troops
Sorry guys, just too dang busy right now with work, school and kids to run a 4th FF team. I will try to get back in this league next year (if life slows down by then...)
|
Re: Fifth Annual Fantasy Football for Stakes and the Troops
Is the lineup/scoring correct in that we are starting Two QBs each week?
Just checking, because I do not think that this was the case the previous years. |
Re: Fifth Annual Fantasy Football for Stakes and the Troops
We started that last year, Travis. It'll be gone next year, and we're gonna adopt a normal 1 QB, 2WR, 2RB, 1TE, 1WR/RB, K, and DEF lineup.
I was thinking this lineup was the same as my other FF league and didn't look at the positions till right before draft time. I changed them a couple hours before the draft, then in talking to Stephen, decided to put it back the way it was because guys wouldn't be able to take it into consideration prior to draft and may have already planned their strategy. |
Re: Fifth Annual Fantasy Football for Stakes and the Troops
Good work Scott :tu

Re: Fifth Annual Fantasy Football for Stakes and the Troops
Guys, I'll get an update on here real soon of sticks I've received. John sent his a few days ago, I'm guessing they should show up today.
I'm behind on the transferring the pass to an epass format. My office computer sh1t the bed a few days ago and I've got it about half fixed right now. I'll get you guys all filled in on that asap. If you want to help move things along, go and download Google Drive. You'll need that to view and edit the pass list once I get it online and sharable. The gist of the pass is this... Rather than send this great big, honkin box around, we'll make our puts and takes on a spreadsheet. We'll also post them in the thread so I can track them easily. Once we go through a round or two, everybody will mail me their sticks and 6 bucks for return postage. (Or whatever a small flat rate box costs these days.) I'll then fill everybody's takes, send them out, and we can start a couple more rounds. We'll play it by ear at first, just to see how it goes and to make sure everyone understands. I just recently finished an epass and it was the easiest, quickest, funnest pass I was ever in. No stress whatsoever, and guys all got their puts in real quick. It'll save us a fortune in shipping this great big box around. I'd also like you guys to consider doing what we did in the past, adding an extra stick with your puts for the first few rounds. That'll help juice the pass and this year's group will be making a definite improvement to the pass for those who come in the future. |
Re: Fifth Annual Fantasy Football for Stakes and the Troops
Smokes I've received:
John (malakai) 5 entry, 5 troops, 17 betting Steven: 5 troops, 35 betting Scott (sofaman) 5 entry Travis (beeradvocate) 5 entry, 5 troops, 5 betting Scott (shilala) 5 entry, 5 troops, 34 betting You other 3 guys, get your sh1t together. :tu Mike, I know you usually get yours in later with school just starting. Just keep me in the loop, okay? I'm still no further ahead on the spreadsheet to Google Drive thing. I think I can corner Miss Lisa and get that uploaded tomorrow. Hopefully. |
Re: Fifth Annual Fantasy Football for Stakes and the Troops
Okay, men. I got the pass tweaked and uploaded and all that crap.
I will be sending a pm with a link to the pass and a pass list and a "how to". It's pretty simple and self-explanatory. Any questions, just ask in here or text me or pm me or hit up Cole or whatever. |

1.) There is no pristine land in Belize. It's strewn with garbage and shacks on sticks.
2.) I'm thinking the houses should go for around 25 bucks apiece. 3.) Profit! |
Re: Fifth Annual Fantasy Football for Stakes and the Troops
My entry sticks (for the prize fund) are on their way:

Re: Fifth Annual Fantasy Football for Stakes and the Troops

I am not sure how you do it Shilala, but some how you always beat me 100% of the time!

Re: Fifth Annual Fantasy Football for Stakes and the Troops
Quote:
If it's any consulation, I got beat by two points in my money league. I was five points from first place in that league last year. Two ties and 3 losses would have been five wins with the addition of five points spread out proper. Most of my wins, I wouldn't have beaten anyone else except the guy I played, so I never got too upset about it. :) |
Re: Fifth Annual Fantasy Football for Stakes and the Troops
The Pass...
As soon as I get Matt and Travis' phone numbers we can get started. It'll only take a minute to get a pass order started and Cole has volunteered to go first. So if you guys get a minute, send those two some nasty pm's. :tu |
Re: Fifth Annual Fantasy Football for Stakes and the Troops
Scott I think I'll sit the pass out this year. Just haven't been able to buy many cigars this year and my supply of "pass worthy" cigars is running low.
|
Re: Fifth Annual Fantasy Football for Stakes and the Troops
Got ya, Matt. Stephen isn't much interested in the pass either.
The good thing about this pass is that you can watch it as it goes along, live. At any time you guys want in, just say the word and I'll slip you into the order. If you do happen to opt in and your turn comes around and there's nothing you're interested in, you can always take another pass. Another thought... I'm not particularly hot about getting the pass started just yet myself. There's just way too much other stuff to do until the weather starts falling off. I have no problem with waiting to start it until you guys are ready. I was just getting her ready because it needed doing, ya know? Let me know what you other guys think. :tu |
Re: Fifth Annual Fantasy Football for Stakes and the Troops
I'm ok waiting but am also ok starting it up now too. I will defer to the majority on this.
|
Re: Fifth Annual Fantasy Football for Stakes and the Troops
Thanks for weighing in, John!!! :tu
I was talking with a couple of our guys on this a little more... In order to make this fly, we really need to get the guys who are playing to become more immersed at CA, even if it's just checking this thread daily. (That's all we really need to make the pass work.) At this point, Matt and Stephen aren't playing, and Travis, Scott, Mike, and Cole seldom visit CA at all. I haven't even heard back from Travis with his phone number. It's not a problem if the guys don't visit CA and check in on this thread, although it's gonna cut into the troop smokes. That is what it is, though. Anything we can gather for the troops is positive. So long as the guys are all watching their teams and stay on top of them, I'll be thrilled. Nothing sucks worse than when guys abandon their teams. Ruins the whole league, I think. We've never had that problem, either. The short of it is that you and I may be the only two guys in the pass, brother. :) I do have 6 guy's phone numbers, 5 of those wanted to be involved in the pass. So it's doable, but that's an awful small amount of guys for a pass. Personally, I'm on the fence about the pass. I'm happy if we do it and perfectly happy if we don't, so I'm not going to press about it. It's ready to go when guys are ready, and I think guys will get excited about the pass once the weather starts getting crappy. |
Re: Fifth Annual Fantasy Football for Stakes and the Troops
How can I track bets if we don't have any???
All right...week 3 means you're all on. Me vs. You. Mano y manos. I give a fiver to the troops for anyone that scores more points than I do. Just hoping I don't finish last this week! |
Re: Fifth Annual Fantasy Football for Stakes and the Troops
With everything I have going on I tend to forget that this league is all about raising sticks for the troops!!! And that is hard to do when you forget to place bets so this week I will bet myself. I will donate 10 troop sticks if I lose and 5 if I win this week, either way the troops win good luck gentlemen
|
Re: Fifth Annual Fantasy Football for Stakes and the Troops
OK Scott I match up with you this week so lets put 10 troop sticks on it???
|
Re: Fifth Annual Fantasy Football for Stakes and the Troops
Guys I want to apologize to everyone for my lack of communication. As soon as the season started my wife gave birth to a baby boy so needless to say I have not had much free time. That I and I have been really busy winning and defending my title :D
Sorry again. I promise I will be around more. Incoming PM to Scott!! |
