What is your favorite $5 or under daily smoke and why?
I have been pondering, what is the best $5 stick and under, including house brands, for my everyday smoke. I have some favorites, but I want to change things up now and again so I ask what is your favorite stick you have been going to on your everyday list.
If you have a region or strength that you are willing to share I would love to hear you recommendations too. :tf |
Re: What is your favorite $5 or under daily smoke and why?
Illusione R Rothschilde by far
There's others that I can get on cbid for less than $5, but at retail, this easily beats any others I can think of. |
Re: What is your favorite $5 or under daily smoke and why?
Famous Nic 5000 Toro...hands down, my favorite value stick. Nice, tasty maduro...and if you can let them rest for about 18 months...:dr :dr :dr

Re: What is your favorite $5 or under daily smoke and why?
Padron 2000 Maduro hands down for me. You can usually find them for 5 dollars or lower online. If you have the patience to let them sleep for a year or so, they are even better! One of the tastiest, most enjoyable sticks by far for me (including cigars over 5 dollars)

Re: What is your favorite $5 or under daily smoke and why?
I have not been smoking long enough to have a favorite .
I have found I can get many different rated 90 to 95 smokes for $2.00 to $3.25 buy watching for daily specials on cigars international CI . Holts , Cigars DOT com ect Recently I bought a bundle of 20 Nicararo SunGrown Torpedos for $29.95 free shipping and was amazed at the quality and taste . |

I also really like the Ashton half coronas. I think they are short filler, but they taste great for 2 bucks. |
Re: What is your favorite $5 or under daily smoke and why?
By the way if the FDA gets their way we may not see cigars for less than $5 anymore. =(

Re: What is your favorite $5 or under daily smoke and why?
I guess you saw my tag line..."Just say NO to SCHIP and Cigar taxes!"
While smoking, if you feel like you've got a pain in your arse, get up and make sure you don't have a bureaucrat stuck up there! Quote:

Re: What is your favorite $5 or under daily smoke and why?
A second vote for Padron x000.

Re: What is your favorite $5 or under daily smoke and why?
Probably the San Cristobal El Principe, at just over $4 per stick.
Some others that are good in this price range are: Fonseca Delicias, Fonseca KDT Cadetes < $3 per stick H.Upmann Coronas Junior, H.Upmann Epicures, H.Upmann Majestic, Hoyo Palmas Extra < $4 per stick Much of the Jose La Piedra Cremas line < $3 per stick La Flor De Cano Selectos < $3 per stick (excellent!) Partagas Aristocrats, Partagas Mille Fleurs, Partagas Petit Coronas Especiales < $4 per stick (all excellent!) Por Larranaga Panetelas < $3 per stick (one of my top cigars now regardless of price) Romeo y Julieta Coronitas en Cedro < $4 per stick (a good stick, some would say excellent) Romeo y Julieta Mille Fleurs < $4 per stick (I think that the recent production are off, but others don't) There are more CCs, but these are the ones that I've smoked in the past couple of years (current pricing tho) |
Re: What is your favorite $5 or under daily smoke and why?
Ramon Allones Small Club Coronas at about $4.50 a stick.
Why? 'cause they're so damned delicious. |

Re: What is your favorite $5 or under daily smoke and why?
I'll throw a vote to the Flor de Oliva bundles. Four different wrapper leaves, each available in several sizes from robusto upwards. These were what Oliva made first, and to my palate they have tasted about the same through all the time that has passed.
For me the best two are the Sumatra and Corojo in torpedo size. |
Re: What is your favorite $5 or under daily smoke and why?
There are a lot of cc's that'll do it, Mark hit a bunch. Great list.
So far as NC's go, Sancho Panza maduro's and Extra Fuerte's are excellent. Or at least I think so. Haven't had one in a couple years, but I never had a bad one and they're always perfect and consistent. |
Re: What is your favorite $5 or under daily smoke and why?
EP Carrillo New Wave Connecticut. Stella (corona) is my favorite vitola in the line and a box comes to just over $3 ea. The other sizes come in under $5 as well.
If you don't like Connies or want something stronger my second favorite is the Oliva Serie O natural. All vitolas under $5 if bought by the box or 5er and some even if you buy singles. |
Re: What is your favorite $5 or under daily smoke and why?
Tampa sweethearts 500 maduro and Padron londres are my current picks.

Re: What is your favorite $5 or under daily smoke and why?
Tatjaue Tattoo great small short stick!!!

Re: What is your favorite $5 or under daily smoke and why?
Five bucks for a daily smoke is too dear for this poor boy, so I recommend those in similar leaky rowboats to try Consuegra 9Ms, available from JRs for under $40 for bundles of 25. I strongly suspect the same seconds are sold by CI under the unbanded brand they sell as Honduran Seconds.
Why? They are a tasty bargain. |

Re: What is your favorite $5 or under daily smoke and why?
I have to second the Illusione Rothchilde. I think the Gran Habano Corojo #5 is worth a look, and I too enjoy the Papas Fritas (but not all the time.) I haven't smoked them for years, but I do remember the El Rey del Mundo as a good buy. The Plasencia 1898 is one of my go-tos and the Cuba Libre (also from Plasencia) seemed good when I tried it. I was impressed by the Pinar Del Rio Oscuro, which was a really long-lasting, solid entubado stick (they make the Obsidian stuff). On a different track, I quite like the Toscanelli dry-cure machine maduros. They are a good, quick at-work smoke for me that I can throw in my bag without worrying about humidity.
I thought the Alec Bradley "Spirt of Cuba" was garbage. And had a Cu-Avana (Intensus, I think) which had to take the cake for worst, most bizarre piece of shredded tire I've smoked. It was worth it just to make fun of for a while. |
Re: What is your favorite $5 or under daily smoke and why?
The three best $5 nc's that have come out recently, to me:
Illusione R Tatuaje Tattoo robusto (I think it should be cigar of the year) Room 101 The Big Payback robustos |

Gran Habano Vintage 2002. Right around $2.50-3 bucks a stick. just got a bundle of 20from cbid for $33 bucks.

Re: What is your favorite $5 or under daily smoke and why?
I'm going to jump in on the Illusione R bandwagon as well, damn tasty smoke for just under $5.
I'll add in Don Lino Africa's as well. A solid, medium bodied smoke with great construction. You can get a bundle of 20 robustos from CI for, like, $30 right now. |
Re: What is your favorite $5 or under daily smoke and why?
I'm a big fan of the Illusione R, had my first a couple weeks back and was really impressed. I also like the Sancho Panza Double Maduro, and the Unholy Cocktail. Both of which can be had for less than $3 a stick if you are patient. Two more would be the Joya De Nicaragua 1970 and the Kristoff Madruo. Both can be bought from the Monster Mashup from time to time sub $5 a stick.
|
Re: What is your favorite $5 or under daily smoke and why?
On the NC side, it's an Illusione R Rothschilde, I like both the size and the taste. For CC's, it's a RASSC or a Boli PC.
|
Re: What is your favorite $5 or under daily smoke and why?
Currently, La Gloria Cubana, either Wavell or Glorias. I love the warm, creamy spice. Before that, Punch Elite, for the toasty wood notes Ive come to associate with Punch. Dont have a favorite CC, yet

Re: What is your favorite $5 or under daily smoke and why?
Brickhouse robusto is one of my favorite cigars overall. Cant beat the price for such a great smoke.

I'm loving those little Cariocas (CAO Brazilias, like above.) Great with coffee in the morning before work.
