Dollar Shave Club

Anyone a member?
I saw the commercial, funny as heck, and researched them. Seems folks are very pleased with service.
You can get razors for $1, $6 or $9 per month.
I went with the four blade $6 one, four pack for month.
At those prices, I may shave daily again.

Ordered cream and wipes for a total of $18.
Can't go wrong with that.

I've seen the commercials.
Will you post a pic of the stuff when you get it, Carlos?
I use those 5 blade fusion power razor blades and they're crazy expensive. When I'm shaving my head I wear them out super fast. It's nuts.
I was perfectly happy with plastic Bic 10 cent razors for 30 years and now I can't afford to shave anymore.

Just noticed they have over 400,000 likes on Facebook.

I am a member. The blades are very good quality and you can't beat the price. They ship fast and you can cancel anytime. I use the $9 blades because I have to shave daily and my facial hair is coarse. They hold up wonderfully.

Good to hear.
I thought of going for the $9 one but since I use a four blade now, figured that would be a good comparison starting point for me.
Cool thing is you can swap around as you wish. May try the $9 one in a month or two.

Can't really beat the price. Most comparable blades are much higher.

Re: Dollar Shave Club

There's nothing to convince me to shave daily, but their pricing is quite nice.

I moved to a safety razor in December. Works great for those who don't shave often. Blades feel sharper than the Gillette stuff... and they are cheap!

I'm a member too. Been using them for about 6 months now. I shave my head and face so I was worried about only getting 4 blades a month. But I've had no issues using one blade a week with no irritation at all. I use the $9 blades, the handle they send is heavy and feels good in my hand. Before I joined I emailed them about possibly needing more than 4 blades a month. They responded in less than 24 hours and were very helpful, you can skip a month if you're not using all your blades and you can add another pack with your next shipment if you need more.
I tried their shaving cream, Dr. Carvers Shave Butter, I didn't like it at first but I gave it a second chance. I think it took awhile for my skin to adjust to it, it's kinda pricey at $8, but for me, it's worth it.

I signed up about 2 weeks ago. I like em. I use the 6 blade, $9.

They had a mix up with my order so I have two handles for nothing. My wife will use it for her. So between the two of us, we spend 9 bucks a month of razors.

I figure I can change them out every 2 weeks.

Me and my future wife do the same thing.

Based on my current usage it would have cost me quite a bit more to join the club.

Also, Mantic (Mark, the owner of Sharpologist.com), did a review on the Dollar Shave Club. Read about it here:
http://sharpologist.com/2012/03/dollarshaveclub.html

Or see his list of 7 cartridge based alternatives for the Gillette Fusion, including Dollar Shave Club here: http://sharpologist.com/2013/11/prog...ernatives.html

I would suggest looking into a double edge safety razor. I buy blades by the 100 pack for about $10. Each blade lasts 4-7 shaves, but there are dozens of different brands and types of blades you can choose from.

I signed up and then was told the same blades can be had cheaper. If you want to save a few bucks over DSC, you can get the exact same blades here for less: http://www.dorcousa.com/

They often have a 20% off code posted on twitter or what have you and shipping was free with signature required for delivery. I believe my order was placed on a Sunday night and at my door Wednesday.

In case you haven't tried the Shave Butter from DSC, I really like it after using it the past ~ 2 weeks.

Re: Dollar Shave Club

All I know is, there is a 4 blade razor at Big Lahts, and naturally it is made in china, and it comes BRAND NEW,
OUT OF THE BAG, absolutely incapable of shaving you without extreme hair-pulling and face scraping. If it wasn't
SO HILARIOUS I would be VERY upset about being out 2 bucks for a dozen razors. I can't even give them to
homeless guys. But once I burned that packaging into my brain, and the look of the razor so I don't make
that mistake twice, I am happy enough buying the better shite razors at the Lahts. But its nice to see that
you guys are liking the service at that place.

Do their razor heads fit the DSC handle?

Garry it looks like they do. They are the maker for the DCS 6 blade razors, at least thats what I read somewhere before. I just like the convience of not having to remember to place an order every month or when I'm getting low. I'm lazy like that. :lr

Re: Dollar Shave Club

I hear ya. To make it wild, I would have to buy the $22 package, with shipping at 4.99. Only saving me 2 dollars.

Like you said, that 2 dollars is spent on them just sending them to me.

I signed up with DSC for the 6 blades. Handle and blades are exact same thing as the Pace 6. I figured it up and seems to me that buying 48 blades at once would save me almost $1/blade.

My problem is I would change blades out sooner than needed. I am a bit.... religious/weird with having 'fresh' blades.

In theory, that would not save me money, only cause me to spend more.

I just hit Dorco to try some stuff out. Even got razors for Weeze.
For what I pay for Fusion stuff, it's certainly worth a try.

I really like the 6 blades...the ONLY beef is that the piece that connects the blade to the handle can break rendering it useless if you get a little rough with it. Just have to be more gentle with them in the future. .

I just got my first package and I am very pleased. I got the four blade set and a tube of Shave Butter. I haven't tried the blades yet (I had a fresh Mach 3 left), but the Shave Butter is awesome.
