Christmas gifts for the wife

I'm at a loss this year as to what to get my wife for Christmas. I've done the jewelry route just about every year and I don't/won't buy her clothes. I'm looking for something unique that will really be useful to her and make her smile.

I was wondering what your current ideas are or what you've given her in the past that she has really enjoyed. Thanks in advance.

A day at the spa, just as good as jewelry

I grabbed the starbucks mug that gets you a free espresso drink once a day for the month of January, a gift card to her favorite spa, some aroma therapy stuff from Bath and body works and a bag of chocolate covered espresso beans. Oh and a few special ornaments for next year.

I think I am doing well this year.

Also, this is what I am planning on getting her for valentines day/birthday with some other stuff.

I will typically pick up jewelery or a spa gift certificate (so she can chose what package she wants). I have also grabbed her a new case or two for her phone in the past.

This year I believe I am going with more jewelery and trying to find her a wall mounted - swinging arm, makeup mirror for the bathroom. I have already gotten her a new Chiefs jersey to wear to the football game we went to a couple of weeks ago.

One year I went with a professional makeup kit, no not the Krusty The Klown one, it was by MAC, I just went and told the girl at the counter to fill one up. (it's good to grab some of her makeup so you know basic colors and complexion stuff), wife wasn't HUGE into makeup but it was a great gift because it was something different, not something a guy would usually spend the time to get so it was really a great gift (her words).

A spa day is always a winner, particularly when combined with an overnight hotel stay somewhere nice. Works out well for both of you :)

How about a scrub brush and knee pads.? :D

;s
As suggested, spa days are always good.
Also, if you are so inclined, give her coupons/chits for chores you will do that she normally does - grocery shopping, laundry, cooking, etc.

Anything from Victoria's Secret. Anytime I buy the wife a bottle of Rapture perfume, she's thrilled to no end.

Bath & Body works has all sorts of good smelling body lotions, potions, soaps, butters, candles, etc. and they always run great deals at Christmas time.

An engraved Christmas ornament.

Godiva chocolates.

Make up index cards with "wishes" on them. A back rub, dinner cooked for her, a date night, breakfast in bed, etc., etc., Mama can turn them in to you when she wants one of those wishes.

Just a few of the things I've done before.

Does she like artwork or sculptures, something to hang in the bedroom? New kitchen appliances are always nice, like a mixer or something. nice pair of galoshes, I bought the GF a pair of juicy couture rain boots and absolutely loved them, she got lots of compliments on them. Any time you can give her something that makes the other ladies say ooh and awwh, it usually gets you extra brownie points.

I think they sound like lame gifts but I think I am getting my wife new non-stick pans and a nice smoothie blender. I know she needs these things and needs are more important this year than wants...

Botox or medispa treatments are always welcome. High end perfume, nice scarf from Gucci or Hermes. Christian Louboutin shoes.

There's the usual jewelry, perfumes, victoria secrets, and so on. What about technology? A new phone, an iPad? Maybe a beautiful watch? A special book or journal. Technology seems to be a big winner these days from what I can see. How about a cruise or vacation? A jacuzzi? who knows, good luck though

A vaccuum and a mixer for the kitchen. If she gets bored cleaning, she can go cook.

I'm horrible at gift buying as well. I would be just fine giving her some money or a gift card to a few stores and calling it good. But noooooooo, she wants thought put into her gifts, ugh.

Fortunately, my wife posts on a parenting board fairly regularly and the ladies had a thread going about what they wanted for Christmas. I've gotten her a new pair of Oakleys that she's been wanting and will get her some clothes as well. Maybe something to hang her jewelry on too.

I learned a long time ago and have kept it at the front of my brain when considering Ho-Ho Day gift ideas for my wife: No kitchen appliances and NEVER house cleaning equipment.

It doesn't matter how good of a deal you found on that normally $800 Dyson vacuum. Mama wakes up to a vacuum under the tree with her name and a bow on it, My a$$ would be gator food.

Of course, there is always an exception to every rule. I imagine there are some foodie or culinary industry wives out there that would love a new knife / knife set or a bad-a$$ stand-up mixer.

Re: Christmas gifts for the wife

I let my wife shop for her own gifts to put under the which means clothes and shoes. That leaves me to pick up one or two gifts to surprise her with. I will look into perfume, jewelry, music and other things I know she wants but won't buy. The hints come all year long, but it getting harder to remember them when needed. :2

Nice! My wife shoots a Beretta Urika 391 youth, loves it.

This year she completed a project in that she built her own bicycle, so I hooked her up with a lot of road biking gear and a trainer.

Scrub brush. knee pads, pots/pans and a vacuum are all out. She cut my nuts off for sure.

She already bought herself a new bottle of her favorite perfume, so that's out.
I may have to go with a picture of some sort and a spa gift certificate.
I was also thinking a weekend in NYC to dinner and a show.
Jewelry is always a decent back-up plan.

Don't stop.....keep the suggestions flowing!

I used to spend hours shopping and then started getting her gift cards so she could pick her own present. Last year the wife said was the best present I ever got her. I took her shopping on the 23rd. No I didnt set in the pub while she shopped. She got my opinion on her purchases and said we had some great talk time. Either way she was happy and that was what it was all about.

Re: Christmas gifts for the wife

Well my idea for my wife (because I am broke this year) was to find a picture of my wife and daughter and sketch it out in black and white / charcoal and get it framed for her as sort of a unique gift. All the other years she has gotten jewelry and spa days and all that comes and goes but I figured if I can do this (because I went to art school) it would be something I could have framed and hung somewhere in our house :tu

Problem is, I haven't started it yet and I have no good pictures of her and my daughter that I would really care to draw (I am picky as $hit)

anyway...its different and unique and something I can say I did

For her birthday I got her a used Orbea Orca frame and fork set. She picked out a Campagnolo Chorus component set and we built it from there. This fall she had the rod and some screws taken out of her leg from an old MX accident, so this was kind of her recovery project. She got to ride it once, the next day it snowed twelve inches! Oh well it's what we expected.

That is an awesome set up especially if it is the more recent frame geometry.

Thanks! I'm not sure what year the frame is, but it is only a few years old. She is new to road biking and wanted to build up her first "real" road bike.

Yup, good stuff. Campy Chorus is a great grouppo. Orca is a solid nice frame.
