Re: Thanksgiving 2013
My family will be up visiting at my place, My little kitchen doesn't even know what its in for.
Got a Huge Oliva V Figurado from at least 2 years back I don't think will make it through the holiday, and will probably destroy my first No. 9, which I will admit I have been looking forward to for a while... |
Re: Thanksgiving 2013
We'll be visiting an old friend of ours from the Army days whose currently attending the University of Texas. That evening I plan on smoking a Cuaba that's been in the humi for 5+ years now.
|
Re: Thanksgiving 2013
No cigars for me this year. Heading to three different spots between my family and the fiance's family. Then heading to work for some double time.
|
Re: Thanksgiving 2013
Sounds Rough Pete, Sounds like fun Steve.
Yep, my mom makes a legendary sausage stuffing. After a nice coma and some Makers Mark I am going to get into that No. 9 which as I said is my first. what is your favorite DE product guys? |
Re: Thanksgiving 2013
I would say the Undercrown line. However I've only had the 9 and T-52 of the Privada line.
|
Re: Thanksgiving 2013
So you like UC's more than the 9 & T-52?
I have smoked my fair share of UC's and while they are consistently good in my opinion they aren't the full flavored haymaker that I am looking for... |
Re: Thanksgiving 2013
Haven't smoked enough of the Privada to say one way or another.
|
Re: Thanksgiving 2013
yea, everyone seems to like them tho, so I'm happy to finally try one and form my own opinion.
|
Re: Thanksgiving 2013
They are definitely good. Just not as much personal experience with them as with the Undercrowns.
|
Re: Thanksgiving 2013

|
Re: Thanksgiving 2013
Good stuff Kevin, Any special sticks in mind?
|
Re: Thanksgiving 2013
We eat around 1-2 PM in our family. Parents head home around 4:00, so there will be plenty of time for smokes. Not sure what I'll go for or if I am opening any special wine this season.
Going to make potato latkes instead of mashed potatoes due to turkey day and Hanukkah being on the same day. I like to limit the dishes served to make the prep very manageable. Quality over quantity. |
Re: Thanksgiving 2013
Herfing in the "shed" with the boys tonight, visiting friends in Va Beach for Thanksgiving and herfing with the boys on Friday. :tu :tu

Re: Thanksgiving 2013
We do Thanksgiving with my in-laws every year. Brother and sister in-law from Dallas and their 4 kids are here too. It's a good time for sure, there will be some whiskey consumed for sure, still not sure what stick will be fired up, it's supposed to chilly so it'll likely be something quick. Might go to the B&M Friday and enjoy something a little more substantial. :D
Rob, I love the T-52's, 9's are great too. |
Re: Thanksgiving 2013
Small gathering at my house in the afternoon, just relaxing, will get a smoke in sometime in the evening, I have a 10 hour part time on Black Friday where I will do most if my smoking :tu reckon I will smoke some old ISOM stuff :banger
|
Re: Thanksgiving 2013
The entire family will be descending on our house for Thanksgiving. I have to imagine the girls are cooking for at least 30.
I'll be watching football and eating till I'm sick, at least a couple times. |
Re: Thanksgiving 2013
Spending Thanksgiving with the family here. Unfortunately I have the flu so I can't really enjoy a special cigar this year:td So, I'll make up for it with an extra piece of pie :) Happy Thanksgiving guys and gals!
|
Re: Thanksgiving 2013
Unfortunately no cigars for Thanksgiving this year  Weather and gong to my sister-in-laws' is killing my annual activity. Hopefully I can squeeze one in during the Christmas decorating Friday and Saturday.
|
Re: Thanksgiving 2013
Headin literally around the block to a close family friends house. Gonna light up an Anejo Shark, Opus X, or something rare/HTF. Gotta dig around in the humi because I'm known to hide some of the gems in the back to prevent temptation :tu
|
Re: Thanksgiving 2013
Gonna be traveling. Think I'm gonna try to go to Bond's in Suffolk. They have opus in stock so may be an opus black Friday!

My wife and I are hosting a couple of Airman from Keesler AFB for dinner at our place. These are guys that aren't too far out of basic training, are at Keesler for technical training school, and don't have the ability to go home for the holiday. We'll be picking them up tomorrow morning, feeding 'em all day, and returning them to base in the evening. I don't know if I'll get time for a smoke, but if so it'll be a T-52 or an Opus X. |
Re: Thanksgiving 2013
Doing Thanksgiving with the wife's family this year. I'm planning to smoke an Espinosa Maduro after dinner.
|
Re: Thanksgiving 2013
12lb turkey this year. Just 5 people eating. I cut off the thighs and butterflied the breast to cook everything faster and get better browning on legs. Removed the wings and used to cook broth with giblets. Mixed some baking powder into dry rub to crisp skin. which was applied yesterday along with compound butter under the skin.
Should I open a '55 Grahams or '63 Dow for an after dinner port? Will need to get in the decanter soon... |
Re: Thanksgiving 2013
My family and i will be staying at home have hens rather than turkey, i know dont judge me. It will just be nice to have this day with the family. I dont know what i will be smokeing later to day but i think i will be a new adventure (one i have never had that is been sitting in my humi). HAPPY Thanksgiving everyone gobble gobble gobble gobble

Re: Thanksgiving 2013
No cigar for me this year, I've got to work, but at least I had time to get to the in-laws for some deep fried turkey with all the fixings! Hope everybody has a great holiday.

Re: Thanksgiving 2013
Finished dinner and dessert, and am about ready to explode. I finished a Tatuaje Cojonu 2003, which was freakin AMAZING! Drifting in and out of sleep on the couch....
