What is Your Opinion of Arturo Fuente Cigars
I'm curious as to what you all think of Arturo Fuente cigars. It seems few of us smoke them, aside perhaps from Anejo and Opus. Personally I love them, aside perhaps from the mildest of their line. If I could I'd smoke King B's and Hemingways all the time. Due to my budget, though, they are a special treat.
So what say you? EDIT: I Must have messed up, there was supposed to be a poll too. :=: |
Re: What is Your Opinion of Arturo Fuente Cigars
One of the most solid available. Pretty much everything they make is good. Never hand an AF that I did not like. Short Storys are one of my favorites.
|
Re: What is Your Opinion of Arturo Fuente Cigars
One of my favorites but my stock has been depleted due to my assimilation into the dark side.
|
Re: What is Your Opinion of Arturo Fuente Cigars
I love the Hemingway's! :tu :tu

Just consistent sticks. |
Re: What is Your Opinion of Arturo Fuente Cigars
I don't reach for them regularly, but they're always a solid smoke, regardless of the line. Though if you count Ashton products in, since they're produced by the Fuentes, I reach for them a good bit.

Re: What is Your Opinion of Arturo Fuente Cigars
My favorite Arturo Fuentes have been:
Anejo #55s Work of Art Maduros Cuban Corona Maduros |
Re: What is Your Opinion of Arturo Fuente Cigars
Almost always perfect construction, and some fine cigars, definitely one of the first NC makers I will look to when seeking a change of pace. Besides the Anejo, I'm a fan of the Hemingway line, the Don Carlos line, and have enjoyed many of the premiums I have smoked, like Opus, Casa Fuente, God of Fire and King Bs.

This. Especially the maduros, and the rare rosado sungrowns. But my favorite from their line is the 858 Maddie. Solid, consistent, pretty cheap. |

Also Brickhouse, Cuesta Rey, Montesino, Bauza, probably a few others in partnership with JC Newman |
Re: What is Your Opinion of Arturo Fuente Cigars
Used to love them when I first started because of the name. Still love a few of the lines, Chateau Fuente Maduros, Anejos, Opus, Hemmingway Maduros. As others have said, the construction is almost always perfect. Another one of those brands that have a gazillion lines and sometimes wish they'd stay with a few and perfect a few lines other than the top tier cigars they produce.

Re: What is Your Opinion of Arturo Fuente Cigars
Great and consistent cigars. Can't go wrong. Anejo being my favorite by far
|
Re: What is Your Opinion of Arturo Fuente Cigars
I am a fan of just about everything they do, especially the Hemingway line.
|
Re: What is Your Opinion of Arturo Fuente Cigars
Hemingways
Sharks (yummy) |
Re: What is Your Opinion of Arturo Fuente Cigars
I like most of them. Opus and Sharks are my favorite.

I really enjoy opus, anejo, and woams. I wish I had more and I'd happily smoke them regularly.

Re: What is Your Opinion of Arturo Fuente Cigars
I absolutely love their Exqusito Maduros.
|
Re: What is Your Opinion of Arturo Fuente Cigars
Opus X, Anejo, Casa Fuente, & Don Carlos, In That Order, Are My Favorites.
|
Re: What is Your Opinion of Arturo Fuente Cigars
Don Carlos is their best "traditional" AR cigar; pre Opus model. Hemingway series are fun, but I don't think they are cigars that fare well with a lot of aging. I can't comment how Opus age or don't, but the Cameroon wrapper cigars can enjoyed right away.

Re: What is Your Opinion of Arturo Fuente Cigars
Anejo's and Casa Fuentes rock! Hemingway maduros are pretty dang good too.
|
Re: What is Your Opinion of Arturo Fuente Cigars
Anejo 55 and 858 maduros are what I recall having enjoyed.

Short Story Maduro is wonderful.
|
Re: What is Your Opinion of Arturo Fuente Cigars
I always try to keep some Cuban Corona Maduros on hand, I also like the Magnum R Rosados and Tampa Sweetheart Maduros.
|
Re: What is Your Opinion of Arturo Fuente Cigars
Tampa Sweethearts are a cigar I've never tried. I need to order some. I've only ever heard good things about them.
|
Re: What is Your Opinion of Arturo Fuente Cigars
Never met a Fuente I did not like. Tampa Sweethearts may be owned by Fuente, but other than ownership, really have nothing to do with Fuente.

I agree with and fully endorse this statement, They are the perfect short smoke with plenty of flavor to boot... |

Re: What is Your Opinion of Arturo Fuente Cigars
I've been in the anti-Fuente camp for 6-7 years. Anejo, Opus, Don Carlos all ok, but way overpriced for what they are. Anything with green in the band made me gag. Hemingways are overrated and bland - maduros and naturals. I never questioned the construction and consistency...just that no AF ever gave me flavors I cared for.
But, then, early this year I had an 858 Sun Grown. Fanfreakingtastic. I've gone through a few boxes of them and they are still great. I've added Cuban Beli SG to the mix, as well. So.....I no longer bash the entire line of AF.....but I'm pretty limited in what I like of the Fuentes. |
Re: What is Your Opinion of Arturo Fuente Cigars
You can't go wrong with the Arturo Fuente lines, they're all pretty good smokes.

It's like we're twins. I was never a big fan of Fuente. I respect their cigars for the quality that they are, but the flavor, I hate that tinny flavor that they all have. The only exception for me has always been the 858SG and 858R. |
Re: What is Your Opinion of Arturo Fuente Cigars
Big fan of Fuentes! Regularly smoked Opus, Hemingway and Don Carlos over the years. I don't consider these collectible or age worthy cigars though and treat them as ready to smoke immediately, never had a box last longer than a year anyways.
|
Re: What is Your Opinion of Arturo Fuente Cigars
Arturo Fuente cigars are what got me into cigar smoking in the first place. The Hemingway series was my favorite family of smokes for a long time. Then I started trying the Anejo, and 858 Maduros. These cigars are what turned me onto the dark side.
|
Re: What is Your Opinion of Arturo Fuente Cigars
I like them all, especially the maduros. I smoked a lot of AF when I first got into a smoking rotation. I think Opus are overpriced and more hype than they should be. Hemingways are good. For the price of the upper AFs, I have a lot of other choices nowadays.

Anejo 49's Anejo 77 Untold Story Don Carlos Robusto Extra (very available, very UNderrated) |
Re: What is Your Opinion of Arturo Fuente Cigars
I have liked Fuente since I started. Especially the Opus and Sungrown.
|
Re: What is Your Opinion of Arturo Fuente Cigars
Was a big Fuente fan back when I really started understanding cigars, spent most of my hours on CF for a few years, hit a few of the CFC events around the turn of the century.
Started out with the Chateau line and moved on to Don Carlos from there. Remember my first Opus X like yesterday (XXX from Iwan Ries I smoked at the Chicago Hyatt Brass Bar in 1999 with a Chimay Blue). Still enjoy these as a top 5 in the domestic arena. Anejos hitting the spot more than most others these days though I do enjoy the Hemingway line, ocassional Opus and the 858SG. You really can't go wrong with a Fuente. |

Re: What is Your Opinion of Arturo Fuente Cigars
Like Dave said, the green band standard line are bland, hemingways overrated, but I do like some of their smokes. I don't run around seeking them as some do, as my local guy almost always have them available
Opus X....#4, #5, petite lancero (all small ring) 858 SG Anejo #46 the petite lancero is a world-class cigar IMO |
