PS4 or Xbox One
Whose getting which platform? Discussion commencing...
:hm, I'm debating on selling my Xbox 360 COD version with controllers, headset and games and ordering a PS4. Seems the PS4 and PS+ network have many more positives to offer, not to mention the lower price of a PS4. I used to have an older 360 then sold that for a PS3 then sold that and came back to a 360 COD version to be back with some buddies and get some game time in. What's your thoughts on the PS4 v Xbox One. Whose going to what platform and why? |
Re: PS4 or Xbox One
Xbox One.
i have the Xbox 360 now and everybody i currently game with have said they are going Xbox One so no need to change anything. i have never had a problem with Microsoft, Xbox, or their customer service. so i think i will stay here. |
Re: PS4 or Xbox One
I agree. After years of of Xbox support, they really have just lost it. I wonder how long until they cave with the 'always on', DRM and non-backwards compatibleness. I think MS is going to lose this one in a landslide.

Re: PS4 or Xbox One
I will be going with the PS4. Mostly because I have loved my PS3 so much. And the fact that its $100 cheaper. I've never had any problems with the Playstation platforms however I have noticed that because the online service is free for Playstation, it tends to take a little longer to get things fixed than Xbox Live does. From what I've heard anyway.

Re: PS4 or Xbox One
The only thing stopping me from committing 100% to PS4 is call of duty and the fact that I have always played it on xbox. The latest iteration by Treyarch has really disappointed me, though, so not sure how big of deal it will end up being. I know its going back to IW for the next one, but still not sure what I'll do.

Re: PS4 or Xbox One
Both consoles are pretty similar in most other aspects now that xbox will play blue rays.
I will likely go with Xbox one because I believe Xbox Live's quality over PS Network (unless things have drastically improved over the last couple years for PSN) . I am most anticipating Tom Clancy's new game "The Division" with an open world. I wasn't sure if I was going to upgrade until I saw the above trailer. |
Re: PS4 or Xbox One
I would like to check out both new systems more before I make a descision, this is the first time I have ever considered switching.
I know I have some good friends that are considering as well, they would certainly influence my descision. |
Re: PS4 or Xbox One
I'm really looking forward to "Watch Dogs". Hadn't seen the trailer for "The Division", it looks good as well.

Re: PS4 or Xbox One
Screw those. Goin' OLD school son!!!
(blows dust out of Nintendo cartridges) LET'S DO THIS!!!! |
Re: PS4 or Xbox One
never been much for third person shooters but "The Division" looks pretty cool

Re: PS4 or Xbox One
i was always an xbox guy, had the original and the 360, but overall i experienced too many problems with it. it took me a while but i switched to the ps3 because it is an overall better machine (hard to compare getting 4 gigs with the stock xbox and 120 gigs with the stock ps3, or whatever the numbers were). the only downside was that everyone i know has xbox, so it makes it hard to game with them. when it comes down to it, i'm way happier with the ps3 than i was with the 360, so i only see it right to pick up the ps4 over the One. unless of course it comes out that the ps4 sucks and everything is better over in xbox land, i'm not that loyal, i just want the best machine because i feel like i use it more for other things than gaming recently

Re: PS4 or Xbox One
Does either have dedicated host servers for multiplayer? That would be a factor for me. Client hosting is crap at best.

Re: PS4 or Xbox One
Watch Dogs
The Division Destiny Wow these all look stellar, I am starting to look forward to the new era. I asked a few friends the OP question and was surprised to learn many are thinking of switching to PS4. |
Re: PS4 or Xbox One
I am thinking of going to the PS4 after 5 committed years with the Xbox, because no backwards compatibility and too expensive.
I probably wont make the switch until after a year of it being out though so the bugs have been cleaned up (rrod anyone?) |
Re: PS4 or Xbox One
ya im gonna do the same, made the mistake of getting a launch day 360... what a mistake it was
|
Re: PS4 or Xbox One
I forgot about TitanFall being an Xbox exclusive, that game is going to be amazing!
Will likely get it for xbox 360 before I get a new gen console. This game alone may make up my mind. |
Re: PS4 or Xbox One
The game plan right now is to wait until the new gen consoles are released, then when the price drops on a 360 bundle, snag that and have one of each 3rd gen. I can enjoy all that I've missed out on for Xbox and wait until later 2014 to potentially get a 4th gen console at a lesser price (with various firmware upgrades, assuredly).

Re: PS4 or Xbox One
Online gaming is really about the friends you make with other gamers. Having been on XBox since the beginning, I will likely stay there.

Re: PS4 or Xbox One
What's making me consider switiching is the price, no backwards compatable games on the "one", "always on" feature on the "one", and nothing really free with xbox live. I also do not care for the motion thing with Xbox, if I wanted one I'd buy one but now they are forcing me to own one.
If I do switch and get the PS4 I'll pay for the PS+ and get the free stuff that comes with including downloaded games. |

So no 360 game will work on the 1 or whatever it's called? |

Re: PS4 or Xbox One
I am okay with no backwards games, I do not keep my old games anyways.
For me, my descision will be a matter of exclusive content & friends switching or not switching. I am really pumped about TitanFall but I will be able to get that one on 360 so I will have to see some other exclusives to keep me with Xbox. |
Re: PS4 or Xbox One
I may just hold off until prices come down some and see what Shane thinks of the "One". If I do decided to get a new console I'll have to get all new games anyway for either of the consoles.

Re: PS4 or Xbox One
Right now I prefer Xbox. But if rumors are true the Xbox1 embodies everything I hate, from DRM to a camera that actively watches you. It's like Microsoft made a list of things that piss people off and confused that with it's "wanted feature" list. PS4 here unless something changes.

MS now states that the 24 hour check-in is not required and there will be discs and not downloaded games. :hm, little too late?
|
Re: PS4 or Xbox One
I have decided to just hang onto my 360, purchase TitanFall and be happy.

Re: PS4 or Xbox One
The gameplay looks incredible.
I gave up gaming a couple years ago, no desire for the learning curve to keep up with the FPS titles. These games look like it'd take a college course to catch up. I'm hoping I don't have to buy one of these for the kids, but I probably will. Were it me, I'd go to PS without a doubt. I've not forgotten the screwing I got on the 360 release, and MS can pound their platform in their ass, so far as I'm concerned. I'd expect Sony to be a big winner on this one. All they need to do is listen to the gamers. MS doesn't even understand that sentence. :) |
Re: PS4 or Xbox One
PS4 for me, I have too many games for the PS3 that I don't want to give up. I won't buy the new one until the PS3 dies. We watch a ton of movies on it so I figure it'll happen eventually, sooner rather than later.
It's tough, I hate Sony and I hate Microsoft, apparently I don't hate Sony enough to switch platforms. :D |
Re: PS4 or Xbox One
Microsoft has now backtracked on their ridiculous policies. At least Sony was good for something by forcing Microsoft to allow users to resell games and not always be online. Still haven't seen definitive proof on backwards compatibility. :sh

Re: PS4 or Xbox One
Have pre ordered four PS4s for release day acquisition. Plan to quickly flip three to pay for mine (yes, I'm one of THOSE people). Actual conversation I had with a guy at work a couple of days ago:
Him - "You getting a XBOX One or PS4?" Me - "PS4. You?" Him - "Why are you getting a PS4?" Me - "Familiarity, overbearing restrictions built into the XBOX One, similar specs, yet PS4 is a hundred bucks cheaper..." Him - "Well the XBOX One comes with a Kinect and the PS4 doesn't." Me - "Whoopity damn do. Never did care for Kinect/Move/Wii. When I wanna play a video game, I want to plop my ass down on the couch and veg out for a couple of hours." |
Re: PS4 or Xbox One
I might have to reevaluate since Microsoft decided to pull their heads out of their nethers. The Kinect still worries me because now that it's standard there is no telling how many games will have irritating hand wavy crap built into them.

Re: PS4 or Xbox One
PS4! I'm still a firm believer that PS2 was the best game console in my lifetime. Even better that N64, gameboy, genesis, or Xbox

Re: PS4 or Xbox One
I'm a happy owner of a PS2 and a PS3, so I'm going to keep the streak going. I don't need a media hub, don't like to exercise while I game, and the DRM blows for the Xbox One, so it's an easy choice for me. :)

Re: PS4 or Xbox One
I have an 8-year old that has asked for an Xbox 360 for Christmas. I will be staying with the older Xbox, not the Xbox One, as his friends have plenty of games for trading. He specifically asked for the older one. Now, if he uses it for playing games only, why would I need to get a 250GB over a 4GB?
|
Re: PS4 or Xbox One
Pretty sure I am just gonna keep my 360, since the game I want is going to be launched on both Xboxs.
|
Re: PS4 or Xbox One
I own a PS3 and have never had an issue so I lean towards staying with Sony.
I have never owned an Xbox, but don't they charge a fee to play online? |
Re: PS4 or Xbox One
Shane David, can you answer my memory question?
