Just saw some bad news. To me, Peter Dinkledge as Tyrion Lannister is the best character in the series.

Quote:

Leading Game of Thrones actor and Emmy winner Peter Dinklage will not return to HBO’s flagship program for a fourth season in 2014. In a press conference the morning of April 1st, 2013 show creators David Benioff, Dan Weiss alongside George R.R. Martin made the announcement to stunned members of the media.

“Today is both a sad day and an exciting one for HBO’s Game of Thrones,” Benioff began. “Sad because we’ve all gotten to know Peter on set and love him dearly as a friend. We’ll miss him sorely. Exciting because we’re heading in an entirely new direction with the character of Tyrion Lannister for season 4.”

Loved the episode

Jon Snow meeting the "king Beyond the wall" :tu

The Exchange between Tyrian and Tyrin Lannister was awesome.
You could hear and see the disdain The father had for son.
And the hurt the son was feeling that turned into Hatred and the look of I will

:gary then *bleep* U in the arse, when I get the chance!

I have had a lot of LOL moments on this show, and suffice it to say that every viewing lasts twice as long
for me per hour, because I love to go back and re-watch things that were excellent. But last night, I watched
both the Epis.1&2 from the 3rd season and I got one of my best belly laughs yet out of Episode 2.

The "Blond Knight" is escorting the KingSlayer to his father, and when a fight breaks out between the two,
Lannister tries to body bump her to throw her off balance and gain advantage....and he just bounces off
of her and falls down, I swear I laughed for 30 seconds on that one...it was just hilarious to me. I am glad
they did not cut to a face closeup of him in utter disbelief, that would have made a serious show into a
slapstick comedy, but if you caught the moment, it was funny enough on it's own.

Read the books, but didn't have HBO. Verizon gave me free HBO, so I just started watching the 3rd season.

I've been watching it too. The Daenyrus (sp?) and Mance Rayder storyline have been very intriguing.

Last season was a little bit meh. I kind of wish this was a 2hr show. We're already at 1/3 done in season 3 and nothing has really happened. When you have 5 or 6 storylines, they only skim the surface for about 5-8 minutes per storyline and then leave you hanging until the following week. But it's still a great show, can't wait to see how bad arse the dragons become.

Even in the books, there are multiple story lines going and timelines that get out of order.

Battle of Astapor wad done so cheaply. Pissed me off. So much more they could have done with the material they had. Good but could have been better.

Re: Game Of Thrones Series 3

Yeah, but jason, YOU KNOW how much you hate all these storylines getting 2 minutes a week. A big battle
could have just made that worse. She got in, she kicked ass, she got out. After her time in that magician's
dungeon, I don't think she was playin' this time around. IN FACT, after watching 3&4 back to back, THAT
whole story was the only one I gave a crap about. OF course Jamie having his hand assed to him was good.
But when I was done watching those two, I thought, 'well, that was an utter waste of two hours." Good,
but not great by any means. I knew she was understanding his a55 from the first word. Any time a man curses
a woman like that in another language, SHE ALWAYS understands somehow. It's the law of TV drama.

They decided not to air an episode on Memorial Day weekend due to the poorer ratings history of doing so.

This Sunday will be Episode 9

That's a relief. I am far behind, though, just watched 5&6 last night. I had popped in 7&8,
and they said "previously on GOT..." and I saw all kinds of stuff that I had not SEEN, and
it was only then I realized I was further behind than I thought. Dug around a bit and found
the disc with 5&6 on it and popped it in. 4 freaking shows behind.

While I hate it too, it makes more sense for the overall story line with the continued rise of Dany. Her taking on the Starks just doesn't hold the same draw of her vs the Lannisters.

That story line followed the book pretty closely ... and was pretty well done given the time constraints, although honestly, I thought the season would have ended on that note.

For the most part, yes the series does follow the books. However there are some differences. The characters names were changed for the Queen of the North. In the book it is Jeyne, in the series it is Talisa. Also, parts of the 3rd book were thrown in at the end of Season 2, and Season 3 is covering about 2/3 of Book 3, with Season 4 covering the rest (that was previous confirmed by the producers). I suspect this is also to give Martin time to finish the series, however, he has already told the producers how the books will end, just in case something happens to him.

The Red Wedding was very brutal and even shocked me. It was more bloody than in the book.

The last two episodes of the season have been similar in their design. The the death of Ned, the epic battle of Blackwater, the Red Wedding, all have taken place in the next to last episode, with the season finale leaving the viewers in a cliffhanger of sort, more eager for the next season to get here.

There's a couple of us at work who watch the show and another who's read the books. He's been waiting for this episode to see our reaction. Needless to say we were floored. I have to give Martin credit for not sticking to the regular convention that good always prevails.

I have to admit, I wasn't sad at all that Rob Starks wife died, that he died, and that his Mom died. Nothing. Not even the part where he was crawling to her. Literally no reaction. The direwolf dying made me sadder :sh

Having read the books a little past where the tv show is currently I knew the internet would implode after last weeks episode. My dad went off the handle when he watched it. I'm curious to see what they include the the season finale.

OLS 06-12-2013 09:49 AM

Re: Game Of Thrones Series 3

I am always 2 weeks behind, since I put two episodes on a DVD then burn it and watch it that night.
But spoilers don't bother me, so I knew this was coming from you guys here. And like most people,
it didn't matter to me much anyway. I think someone said it best in the season 2 thread, there are
no good or bad people in this show, it is not set up to be 'the Starks versus the world', or 'the Starks
are the good people and everyone else is trying to take away their kingdom'. It's just a show, a story,
it is what it is and nothing more. NOW, that said, I am not thrilled knowing that the Lannisters
basically come out of this in control of everything, and yes, we know that queen sexy tit5 is a-comin'.
But that episode, combined with the yawner of a season finale, well, it just made me less likely to watch
next season. We'll see. I think it is a sure thing that Peter Dinklage is OUT, so any hopes that the dwarf
king will stab his nephew in the head and make it all right is kind of out the window. Surprised he was not killed
in the finale, considering the solid rumor that he is moving on to other dwarf projects. But we know Tywin's
actor has cancer and is likely gonna be gone, Tyrian is gone, so what the hell? I guess it could be worse
than 'Queen Sexy Tit5 has a peaceful reign filled with long bubble baths and thin dresses in high winds'.
