Ok,Help a newbie put a sampler together.
Its me again the newbie with 0 knowledge in the cigar world. I have been reading and looking all around this great site and feel it would be best left in the experts hands.
I am waiting on my humidor to arrive late this week or early next week. I went to my local smoke shop and picked up 5 cigars based on what they thought where good ones. I have only had one and the others are sitting in my buddys humidor and I am already looking into getting more. I want to see if you guys will give me your top 5 mild-medium cigars. I know opinion will vary, but it will give me a list to pick from when I go to put another order in. Thanks for the help.:tu |

san lotano habano for me is a good stick and I'm new as well, it's a medium / mild stick and it's not an expensive cigar either, I think I picked them up for $7 each

Re: Ok,Help a newbie put a sampler together.
I took your question to mean mild, medium, or anyting in between:
Arturo Fuente Hemingway Short Story (Med.) Padron 2000 Natural (Med.) Rocky Patel Vintage 1990 (Mild-Med.) Berger & Argenti Mooch (Mild-Med.) Cuenca y Blanco (Med.) Oliva Serie O Habano (Med.) Hope this helps, and have fun in your discovery of the many cigars available. |
Re: Ok,Help a newbie put a sampler together.
Here are some great cigars available at practically every B&M I've ever been in.
Oliva V (My go-to when I'm at a B&M and just want a good smoke.) AF Hemingway (I like the short stories best but they're all good) LGC Serie R (Great Maduro) Padron 1964 Anniversary (Expensive but incredibly worth it) Ashton VSG (Also expensive, but better than the ESG, which is really expensive.) |

I actually like the Davidoff 2000 as well, more of a mild stick, don't want to say it's like a CC but it's got a good taste.

Re: Ok,Help a newbie put a sampler together.
Look around your shop. Talk to the regulars. See what they are smoking. They aren't smoking Rocky Patel's, I guarantee you. You'll be surprised who is sitting in your B&M, and you can learn a lot from the guys.
I would say this about buying cigars. You will quickly tire of the mild/medium, and ramp to full bodied in a hurry. Then you'll taper off, and find out where in the nicotine spectrum you like being. For me, I shot up from mild to full-bodied Tatuaje - to a point where I was smoking multiple a day - then eventually found my zen with mild cigars, in about a 6 month period. Don't overbuy. But try everything. You will waste a lot of money in this hobby. But it's worth it. |

Even though I've never had an issue with them, only ordered twice, most people hate Thompson's so stay away from them. I don't even order from them anymore. Don |

Re: Ok,Help a newbie put a sampler together.
Just a tip from one novice to next. Some great advice I got from several of the guys/gals on here was to buy the small sampler packs. They give you such a variety and I been keeping a journal. I have my own rating on what I like about it and what I didn't like. I critique it and put would I try it again, only a few I said never. So try the samplers on some sites like Cigar, CigarMonster, etc.
One of my favorite so far has been a CAO Gold Maduro. So I have one of five. :D :D |
