Kansas City BBQ
Kansas city bbq is a wonderful thing. Really, bbq is a wonderful thing. But, come on, Kansas city is the bbq capitol of the world. I just wanted to make a thread showing my appreciation for one of the greatest foods on earth.
MMM, Arthur Bryant's :r |
Re: Kansas City BBQ
Don't have great variety of experience with KC BBQ, but what I have tried (Jack Stack several times) was wonderful.
But I must admit, I love BBQ from many places. :dr |
Re: Kansas City BBQ
I love any good BBQ. I haven't had any from KC but I will one day.
|
Re: Kansas City BBQ
Went to a Chiefs game last month and ate at Jack Stack. What a great place.

Re: Kansas City BBQ
If you go to KC, hit up Oklahoma Joe's. Best BBQ there is. Oh man, now I'm craving a Z-man with fries. :dr
|
Re: Kansas City BBQ
If anyone ever flies into KC they need to do themselves a favor and stop at the Hilton by the airport and grab a bite at Cafe Weatherby. Sounds strange I know, but it's ran by one of the best competition BBQ teams going right now, the Munchin' Hogs. It's bar none the hidden gem of KC BBQ.

Re: Kansas City BBQ
what about Gates Bar-B-Q, any good?

Re: Kansas City BBQ
I'm actually a fan of all bbq. I know I would like the carolina style, because we have "carolina style" here at several places. KC is kind of the melting pot of bbq.

Bob is notorious for describing gourmet magic in the zombie thread... then I, stuck at work, read descriptions of his "culinary wizardry" and go home to bagel bites... lol jk :lr

Re: Kansas City BBQ
So back to the OP... anyone know any homemade BBQ sauce recipes?

Oklahoma Joes is really good too, but I dont get there as often due to proximity. I like ALL Barbecue, Carolina, Texas, Memphis, KC, you name it. Chicago is almost a BBQ wasteland compared to those cities... but Illinois does have 17th Street BBQ which I would put up against any in the country. |

When y'all want real BBQ just come on down to Memphis and we will show you how it's done
|
Re: Kansas City BBQ

Closer to home there is a place called Chucks in Burbank that is pretty good on an "on" night, but not too great on an off day... Worth a drive though - www.chuckscafe.com . Ever since Famous Daves closed in Palatine, there has been a barbecue drought around here... |

Re: Kansas City BBQ
Famous Dave's was ok. I've been to one in Nashville. Not bad but not great either
|
Re: Kansas City BBQ
There is a Famous Dave's 2 miles from my house. Decent flavors on the BBQ. But most of it was Dry and over cooked.
