Summer vrs. Winter
I was thinking about this today. do you have any preference of cigar types as they pertain to the time of year? I tend to lean towards more spice and deep more rich cigars in winter. Just curious.

Re: Summer vrs. Winter
I seem to lean to CC's in the summer and Maduro NC's in the winter, Don't know why but this has shown in spending trends lately.

Re: Summer vrs. Winter
No change in preferences for me.

Re: Summer vrs. Winter
Nope, no changes in preferences for me either.

Re: Summer vrs. Winter
Maybe it's because I have to smoke outside or in the garage. It seems I prefer something that feels, "warm" Whenit's really hot I levitate more toward a Fuente sungrown or something like that. In winter it seems I crave more of a Puro Authentico or Joya Antonio,

Re: Summer vrs. Winter
Its all about my mood rather than the time of the year... :ss

Re: Summer vrs. Winter
Only change I make is size. Tend to smoke shorter cigars in the winter due to the cold weather.
|
Re: Summer vrs. Winter
In the summer, I tend to prefer Ramon Allones, Partagas, Bolivar and Por Larranaga.
In the winter, it's Ramon Allones, Partagas, Bolivar and El Rey del Mundo. Although I do like Por Larranaga in the winter. |
Re: Summer vrs. Winter
I Usually Have More Burn & Wrapper Issues In The Winter. I Always Smoke Outside; Our Colder, Dryer, Lower Humidity Here In Mobile Is Not Conducive To Perfect Smoking Conditions.;) Therefore, I Tend To Smoke More Lower To Medium Priced NC's & Save My "Good Stuff" For The Spring & Summer.:)

Re: Summer vrs. Winter
I smoke more cigars in the winter, but my preferences stay the same.

Re: Summer vrs. Winter
Nope...maduros all year long baby. :D

No real taste preference for me, but I definitely go with shorter smokes during the New England winters. Once I become independently wealthy and have a smoking room built, I'll smoke whatever I want when I want. But when I'm walking the dog in sub-freezing weather, I'll go with a perlas or small panatela sized smoke. |
Re: Summer vrs. Winter
Vin - you can come to the new Casa de DBall - supposed to have a smoking room! :-)
The only thing that changes for me is I have to be more carefull with my sticks and cant keep a few in a traveldor in the car for emergency use (traffic jams, etc) |

Re: Summer vrs. Winter
Only thing that changes for me is the quantity per day. Since it's soooooo damned nice out during the 4 days (:lr) of winter here in Florida, it's easy to smoke 3 or 4 a day. Summer, it's 1 or 2. Sometimes 1 every other day.

Stays the same for me!

Re: Summer vrs. Winter
I don't know that I ever paid attention to it. In the winter I don't smoke outside as often, but my tastes don't change much.
|
Re: Summer vrs. Winter
I do much less experimentation in the winter. I too go with shorter sizes. Most importantly I make sure it is something I've had, really enjoy and will be worth freezing my nips off for.
|
Re: Summer vrs. Winter
My cigar preferences do not change, but smoking itself becomes a challenge with the cold weather and not being able to sit outside.
|
Re: Summer vrs. Winter
My tastes change depending on what I had for dinner, what I'm drinking, if I had a good day/bad day, etc etc. I don't think there is any change in my ever changing preferences over the winter, but it's hard to tell really.

Re: Summer vrs. Winter
Cold weather can change the experience of the cigar, IMO.
If it's cold enough, AND you have to smoke outside . . . I tend to smoke while driving and the windows rolled down a bit. Then I would prefer a cigar with a lot mroe intense flavor profile (more like flavor in your face), rather than something super aged that requires more concentration with your palate in order pick up what the cigar is all about. Definately, when you're warm & cozy, you can focus all your energy & thoughts on the cigar at hand. |
Re: Summer vrs. Winter
26-32 degrees C all year round here. No changes for me -(P

Re: Summer vrs. Winter
I reach for my pipe more in winter.
|
Re: Summer vrs. Winter
I tend to prefer "I don't smoke cigars" in the winter. If I hit a B&M or somewhere I can smoke, I'll burn a few, but they're few and far between once it gets cold.
So far as whether my tastes change or not, I'd say yes. I like stronger stuff in the cold. |
Re: Summer vrs. Winter
I dont smoke as much when its cold.
