MN Cigar Events

Didn't find a thread that pertains to this so I thought I'd start one seeing that we don't get too many events here in MN so it's nice to know when they are! Post all the events going on at your local MN B&Ms! I'll start it off.

My local B&M Goodfellas in Mahtomedi is have Maria Caram coming in for a hand rolling event. She grew up in Cuba working in cigar factories with her family. She is now in the US and still rolling cigars. She will be hand rolling in the store and everyone who attends will get 1 or 2 (can't remember) of her cigars and there will also be deals on other cigars in the shop. This event is on Thursday Oct 25th from 6-8pm. Unfortunately I will not be able to attend due to prior plans. :gary

**Disclaimer: I have no idea if these cigars are any good nor do I know much about this woman. Just an event I thought sounded cool.**

Wow. Thanks for the heads up. Too bad I work until 7 and the Vikes game is Thursday night. This sounds pretty cool.

He has a 60 inch hi def in the lobby that will probably have the game on if that is a large issue. :r

Re: MN Cigar Events

Sounds good, but I'll be down at the Uptown Bulldog sucking down $3 Two Hearted pints while watching the game all night. Definitely sounds like a good time though!

I have a few of Marias cigars in my cooler. Charming gal. I had one of her custom rolls at a scotch tasting at Brits a few months back and it was pretty good. I believe she uses Honduran, Dominican, and Nicaraguan tobaccos.

Stogies on Grand is hosting the release party for the Paradox by Trinidad this Thursday from 4-8pm. Doesn't sound like any giveaways (although they may have just not posted them) but there are buy specials and food!

This Saturday the 8th from 2-5, Goodfella's Cigar Shop in Mahtomedi will be having a bratwurst cook and will have the Army/Navy game on their 60 in. HD TV. Also, all veterans will receive a free cigar. Don't quote me on this but I've heard rumors the free cigar will be one of the Kristoff sticks.

I think you need to RSVP at tobaccogrove.com if you have not already done so. Limiting the holiday party to 100 guests. Looking forward to this one, haven't been up there in a while.

No idea who the guy in the orange shirt is, but Mattso and I are off to the right in the background.

Goodfellas Cigar Lounge in Mahtomedi (in between White Bear Lake and Stillwater) will be hosting their 2nd annual Long Ash Contest from 6-8pm on Thursday Feb 28th. Everyone will receive an Oliva Churchill and will light at the same time. Whoever has the longest ash by the end of the event will win a prize. I haven't heard what it is yet. You MN guys should swing in if you can!

Mattso3000 02-17-2013 03:02 PM

Might be able to swing this before work next week.

Re: MN Cigar Events

Just an update on the Big Ash contest at Goodfellas in Mahtomedi, the first, second, and third longest ash will receive prizes. The cigar given out for the contest will be an Oliva G Churchill. Not my favorite stick in the world, but I'm assuming he was trying to cover all levels of cigar smokers.

Re: MN Cigar Events

Bump for the Long Ash Competition at Goodfellas Cigar Lounge in Mahtomedi. Just east of 694 and Century Ave. Everyone in attendance will receive an Olive G churchill and the longest attached ash will win a prize. 2nd and 3rd longest will also receive a prize. Come on out. I will be there along with many others. If you haven't been to Goodfellas they just launched their web page at www.premiumsticks.com. There is a short video showing footage of the lounge and walk in. The contest is free by the way. :noon I'd love to see a few of the MN BOTL's show up!

Awesome! It's a pretty small lounge but the walk in is really nice in my opinion. I'll be there Wed from about 2-4 I'm guessing.....

If any of you guys are coming to the Longest Ash event tonight at Goodfellas I will be there in a black Wild shirt. I say this because I don't know what anyone on here looks like.....:r 6pm is the starting time.

I'm on the way but its probably a 45 min drive. I'll be wearing the standard purple speedo.

Re: MN Cigar Events

Finally you can wear that thing without the fear that you will show up wearing the same thing as me. Just because I won't be there. I am, of course, wearing a purple speedo.

Burn is having an Ashton March Madness event on Monday night. Limited to 30 and only a few tickets left. For 10 bucks you get an Ashton cigar and something to eat for the championship game. Event starts at 645 until the game ends. Call Burn or get a ticket at the shop to reserve a spot.

Goodfella's in Mahtomedi is having an Ashton tasting event on May 8th from 6-8 pm. Each person will receive two Ashton cigars and will be a part of the tasting event. If you are interested in attending let me know and I will tell Fritz to hold a spot for you. Tickets are $10. Hope to see some of you there.

mahtofire14 04-24-2013 06:32 PM

Re: MN Cigar Events

Just expanding on the last post....The Ashton rep will be setting up stations of food. Nuts, fruit, chocolate etc. You will walk around to each tasting table, eat one of the items on the table then puff. The rep will then ask what flavors are prominent in the cigar after you eat each item. Sounds pretty cool.

LMAO. Just because its a MN thread anyone listen to the KQ morning show today?

Today they were talking about the DUI sting this weekend and how the state had arrested more people Friday night during the crackdown than any other single night in state history and Philly Dog says "I personally want to thank the state for the creation of those whiskey plates as its easy to know which females are the best to follow home at 2am." LMAO!
