Brazen
New Brazen is ordered. Look forward to seeing if it is as good as my Behmor roaster.

Re: Brazen
ETA is today. :)

Re: Brazen
Very cool lookin' brewer. Sounds like it has some nice features. Please let us know what you think.

Re: Brazen
Set up is easy. Brewed my first pot. But tomorrow morning will be the test. So far so good is the thoughts so far.

Re: Brazen
Ok, the final vertict is in, adjusted the heat a little, moved the ground up to a couple clicks finer. Roasted a batch of Coffee last night. And I am completely pleased with the Brazen. Thank you Behmor for another well thought out product.

Re: Brazen
Laura, thanks for the review. I hadn't heard of the Brazen. I'd been toying with the idea of a drip machine, if just for the convenience factor. I still love my FP, but the limited quantity and what to do with the grounds every time can start to become a PITA. Time to start saving my pennies.

Re: Brazen
Bob, it is a new machine that has just come out. I like the fact that I can control the temprature and the soak time. It makes a big diffrence in how the coffee tastes.
|
Re: Brazen
I have had the Brazen for a few weeks now and I am really liking it. There are brewers out there that can brew at the proper temp (195f-205f) but are either very expensive or just not what I wanted to spend my money on for various reasons. The Brazen allows the user to adjust the brew temp very easily as well as a presoak time which can be very important with fresh roasted coffee to help control the bloom. Darn good machine for $200 and Behmor has always had great customer service so I dont worry if there is a problem along the way since I know it will get fixed.

Re: Brazen
Glad I am not the only one that loves mine.

Re: Brazen
This is on my wife's short list.
Laura, still liking it? |
Re: Brazen
Bit the bullet and ordered this.
Reviews seemed to be mostly positive and my wife hates the looks of the Technivorm pots. Will share my thoughts after Xmas. |
Re: Brazen
Yes I still love it. I am glad you are getting one. Let me know what the wife thinks :)

Re: Brazen
Made the first pot this morning.
More than a decent cup. Set up was a real breeze. Will have to play around with it a bit, since changing the settings couldn't be easier. So far, I am pleased. |
Re: Brazen
If I have one complaint, after the first cup, the carafe doesn't keep the coffee hot enough.
I thought about raising the brew temp, but I kind of like it where it is. I've pre-heated the carafe with hot water, and found it doesn't make much of a difference. The only real solution I've come up with, is to drink my first cup faster! :D |
Re: Brazen
You must like really hot coffee, Mine is so hot I have to wait a few minetes to drink it.

I have an email in to Tech support. I don't know what the problem is, but the coffee is just way too cold. I'll update when I hear back from them. |
Re: Brazen
I will be interested in the reply.

Re: Brazen
Any Updates, Dom? I Have A Capresso 10 Cup Machine That Has Worked Well For The Past 5 Years, But I'm Always Looking For Something Better!:D:tu
|
Re: Brazen
The Capresso is what I replaced. I wasnt getting the great temp control I do with my Brazen.

The caraf is not supposed to go into a dishwasher because it can hurt the seal that joins the caraf together. If this seal fails the problem you are having sounds like the result, I am not saying you put it in the dishwasher. There have been a few reports just like this over at Coffee Geek and then they disappear from activity because Joe and his team take care of the problem, I don't think black vans show up at their houses but I can't really say :D. |

Re: Brazen
I dont like mine grinding the beans, I like to control it more than that. I also dont like cleaning the grinder in those kind of machines.

Adjusting the grind and temp to suit your palate, is part of the fun. I'm finding that the carafe isn't keeping my coffee warm enough. I could just raise the brew temp and see if that helps, but that defeats the purpose of the machine, IMO. BTW, I did receive a response from Behmor yesterday. We're going to take the readings at some point today. I'll keep all posted as to there response. Quote:

No, I dont think grinding coffee seperately makes a mess. It allows me to have more control of my grind and to see it before I put it in the filter. |
Re: Brazen
I did what they asked and received an email from Behmor on Friday.

Re: Brazen
Got the new carafe, holding temp much, much better.
Now the issue is the mess the new carafe makes when pouring. I expect a little mess when pouring, but this is too much. Took me 4 paper towels to clean up the spill from pouring 1 cup of coffee. I'll report back with what they say. |
Re: Brazen
That is interesting Dom, my husband complains about it making a mess, but it doesnt do that to me. I will be interested to hear what they have to say.

Re: Brazen
Let me update. I pulled the old caraf top out and the two they sent as replacements, I see no difference in the thumb lever. I then tried the old top on the caraf to see if it would pull out the brew basket, amazing how muscle memory can adjust to avoid mess making. I could not repeat the same problems. However when I put hot water in the caraf and did some pour comparisons, the old top dripped down the front of the caraf, the other two do not (much). Honestly I have never had a 100% spill free pour with any caraf but the old top is bad, the newer ones are not perfect but more then acceptable to me.

Re: Brazen
A year later and an issue developed where the coffee maker wouldn't brew a full pot.
I descaled the pot a few times, and there was no improvement. Reached out to Behmor, and they went ahead and replaced the pot with a new one, at no cost to me. :tu |

Re: Brazen
Here I am 6 months later and the new pot that they sent is on the fritz.
I absolutely love this coffee pot, and thus far their service has been top notch, but having to constantly resolve issues with this brewer is growing tiresome. Reached out to Bemohr, and received some diagnostic steps to try and resolve the issue myself. If I can't get this resolved it might be time to switch and try a Technivorm. |

Due to the issues I've had, I'm going to ask if they will extend the warranty, as I think my 2 years is up in December. Hopefully there will be no more issues, and I won't even need that extension. The product is terrific (when it works right), and so far, their customer service has been top notch, so for now I'm sticking with my Brazen. |
