My Cuban Wheel review
I was one of the lucky winners in the My Cuban Wheel giveaway, and got a lovely box which can be seen here: http://s282.photobucket.com/albums/k...heel%20Cigars/
Tasty sticks, these. Impeccable construction, nice draw, even burn. Slightly flaky ash, but that didn't detract from the taste one bit. I'd characterize the No. 1 as light progressing to medium bodied, smooth, elegant, well structured, with hints of woodsiness, creaminess and caramel sweetness. I am not normally a fan of lighter cigars, but this one won me over with its clean structure of fine flavors and its lingering, thoroughly enjoyable finish. The No. 11 was medium bodied progressing to full, with a lot of similarity in flavor and structure to the No. 1, but with more richness and power and less sweetness. Clean, elegant and well structured, with a consistently enjoyable progression of subtle flavor. These cigars are not powerhouses, nor do they have clearly and readily identifiable flavor notes that come out and hit you in the face with chocolate or pepper or spice. What they do have is elegance and superb flavor balance. I'm giving this brand a solid thumbs-up; there is a lot of subtle complexity and quality here, and the construction is excellent. These are really very nice cigars, and I'm looking forward to trying more of them. |

I really enjoyes No 1 blend. No 2 was just okay in my book.

Re: My Cuban Wheel review
The two I tried to smoke this weekend ran and tunneled right out of the gate, sadly I had to pitch 'em. I don't think I can give them a third try.

Also, Moreno noted on the MCW facebook page that some dry boxing will really help these sticks come alive as he gave them some extra humidity prior to shipping.

The flavors were of baked goods; reminded me somewhat of biscotti, with almond and vanilla undertones. Berries and currants in the finish. The smoke was lush. The size of the #II is huge, much more than I like, so I only got about halfway through the stick. But I got every bit of enjoyment out of it that I wanted. In this new cigar boom we're experiencing, we're going to see a lot of opportunists starting up brands with catchy names and not much else; it's good to smoke a cigar like this one, in which you can taste not only the expertise of the maker, but the love he has for the leaf. Bravo, Moreno. Keep it up. |
Re: My Cuban Wheel review

Re: My Cuban Wheel review
Since the thread/review was started back in June of this year, is there any other updates/reviews from Inmates that have smoked this brand? What's your thoughts and feelings about these sticks?

Re: My Cuban Wheel review
Just had a #1 the other day. I really liked it. Started off really mild then at about the 1/3-1/2 mark, it totally changed. Much stronger, very different profile. I joked that if you had tried this cigar early then left the room, came back 30 min later, you would swear it was a different stick. Flavors early were green tea, mild cedar. Later, hickory, pepper, almost meaty.
Gonna light another #1 up soon, and if it is similar, I'll be ordering a wheel. |

Re: My Cuban Wheel review
Order placed on Friday Dec 7th @ 11am for a wheel of Liga I robustos. As of today I have received no communication or tracking #. I sent an email this morning asking if there was some sort of issue on their end as my payment went through. So far not to impressed with the level of customer service.
How did yalls order process go with this company? Mikes |
Re: My Cuban Wheel review
I placed an order on Dec.5 and have not heard anything. It's a small company and the guy who runs it is a good guy from what others say on other forums, so I'm not sweating it.

Re: My Cuban Wheel review
I got my order in 4 days. Enjoying one on my deck right now! I love these things.

Re: My Cuban Wheel review
Smoked 1 of my last 2 from the 6th month of this year when i won some. I am going to be honest at first a month after having them I did not care for them at all. Gave a few out and had 3 left smoked 1 in november and it formed into something nice. If I remember correctly they were rolled in 2nd month in this year according to how he stamps them on his band and me asking. To me they are mild medium wanting to become full but end just before, with some creamy complexity. Complexity to me is not the same taste all throughout the cigar keeping me interested and wanting more. they are 1 of those cigars now that I will smoke to the nub after some rest time. Can't wait to see when I smoke the last1 next year.
