Airline Travel question
Does anybody know if TSA will give me any crap about bringing my cutter onboard? I would hate to loose my Palio!
Also, am I correct that a lighter cannot be brought onboard? |
Re: Airline Travel question
not true. Cigar cutters are allowed. Regular flame ighters are also allowed. Torch type lighters are not.

Cutters .... well, as far as I can tell, things are so variable that you might get a cutter through 2 screenings and have it confiscated at the third. No need to take the risk, bring a punch or do what MRN does and bite the cap off. |

So, should I not risk bringing my Evertorch?? a $.50 bic would brobabaly do the job just as well anyway right?? |
Re: Airline Travel question
Bring a crap cutter. Use matches while on vacation if possible..don't take the chance of some TSA worker abusing his authority and giving you a hard time.

Re: Airline Travel question
I personally do not travel with my better lighters/cutters. I leave the Dupont at home and take a Bic. :D
Better safe than sorry. |

Re: Airline Travel question
Interesting- no hand grenades allowed either on board or checked!:D
Oh, be sure to put all your shampoo and stuff in zip lock bags, my bored TSA people decided to uncap them and leave them so, making a gooey mess of my toiletries bag and some clothes that got leaked on. Nice folks, those TSA %^$#!@*& |
Re: Airline Travel question
I usually place a cheap cutter in my checked luggage, and hook a cheap punch on my keyring. I'll take a cheap soft flame lighter in my carry on junk as well.
If any of it is stolen, I'm not out anything of value. And in my opinion, steal is exactly what some of these TSA people do. :fl |
Re: Airline Travel question
thank you all for the travel tips!

Re: Airline Travel question
I went on a domestic flight and forgot to pack my torch lighter, and had it in my pocket. They could have confiscated it, but they were nice enough to just let me drain all the butane and take it with me. /whew, that was a 30 dollar lighter.

Re: Airline Travel question
I've flown all over and you can take just about any cutter you like. If you want to bring your nice torch lighter have an approved carrier. If you are traveliing in the US and any major city there are too many places to get a bic and a $1 cutter.

Re: Airline Travel question
I've been lucky Moe; I've traveled checking in my full (yeah I know, not good) torch/flame Xikar and carrying on a cheapy cutter. It's good to know I can bring a better cutter on in my carry-on now though! And I'll likely just use matches in the future.
In Vegas, grab the giant box 'o matches at CarneVino in the Palazzo. Awesome big box of like 100 matches. Just go up to the hostess and ask for 'em. |
Re: Airline Travel question
wheres the palazzo??
|
Re: Airline Travel question
please consult your printout
:r:r:r it's the new tower/casino extension of the Venetian; right across the street from where you'll be staying |
Re: Airline Travel question
i didnt see it on there... will re-read on the plane.
just re-checkd and you mentioned the palazzo but you didnt put where it was! Thanks for nothing!!! |
Re: Airline Travel question
I wouldn't risk the Ever Torch, they may want to light it to make sure it is a soft flame, and a very few of those TSA luggage monkeys may be smart enough to hit the button by mistake. I had one (pre dual mode) in my checked baggage and the bastards not only took it out of the pouch it was in, but disassembled it and threw the component pieces loose in there. Not pleasant trying to find a screw that is 3/16" long in your luggage.....

Re: Airline Travel question
was under the impression you can carry any lighter on a plane if it is in one of these bad boys?
http://www.cigarextras.com/ProductIm...-bullet-ce.JPG i was gifted one of these from da klugs at shack last summer. (what a guy that klugs is right?) |
Re: Airline Travel question
that is a certified container, you can bring a torch with that.
|
Re: Airline Travel question
I take my cutter through every time I go through security. Also you can take a bic style lighter through just not a torch lighter.

Re: Airline Travel question
I wouldn't risk the cutter. I've had mine confiscated from my carry on. If you really want to bring it, put it in your checked luggage.
