Sancho Panza Double Maduro - Cervantes

Another standby cigar for me. I think it is also noob friendly due to the smooth sweet flavor profile it has.
I enjoy it so much, I always have at least a box resting in the cooler. The cigar I'm smoking for this review is fairly fresh.

The cigar:

Sancho Panza Double Maduro

Size: 6.5 x 48
Wrapper: Connecticut Broadleaf
Binder: Connecticut Shade
Filler: Honduras/Nicaragua/Dominican Republic
Price: $58 for a box of 20.

Pre-Light:
Firm and tightly packed. Box pressed. Clean, well made cigar with minor veins. The foot has a barnyard with a little pepper.
Firm draw but I suspect due to the freshness (I recv'd them 2 weeks ago from an order).

I will be enjoying (I hope) this cigar with a Tripel beer (Watou Tripel - St. Bernadus).

First Third:
Such a sweet maduro flavor! Even with the first few puffs, the sweetness coats my mouth.
This cigar is a little (over) humidified which most likely explains the firm draw but doesn't really affect the smoking experience.
Slight pepper aftertaste with a hint of wood/cedar. Sweet molasses coming in which really compliments the tripel beer I'm drinking.

Second Third:
The woodsy/molasses flavor still coming into the front. Slight pepper and cedar in the background. Same flavors which I am enjoying.

Last Third:

A little harshness coming in but it's not too bad. Cedar coming in more to the front with the sweetness slowly going away but not totally going away.
Good tobacco flavors!

Conclusion:
Another good smoke for the price. It is as complex or intense as some other well known cigars?
No, but sitting here watching the pre-game show for the Man United vs QPR with a good beer, it's a damn good combo. Life is good.

If you get a chance, try the Sancho Panza Extra Fuerte. They're a bit different, but also very good and super cheap. I'd guess they'll need a couple months to dry out, too.
Thanks for the review!!! :tu

I've looked at these , just for the price, but I was afraid the were "cheap". TY for the great review. I'll have to grab me some.

One of the first cigars that started me on my journey! Still a good one and very wallet friendy.

Sounds like something I need to try. And for that price, its easy to keep around.

I was gifted a box by Cliff (Svillekid) a while back and I just had one last night. My experience is spot on with your review, they are straight forward decent sticks. Paired with a glass of Rittenhouse Bottled in Bond Rye Whiskey and I was good to go

Have smoked every vitola of this cigar. The best by far was a box of Escuderos that must have been sitting for a long time. The cellophane was translucent brown! They were the smoothest, tastiest Sancho Panza Double Maduros I'd ever smoked. Also enjoy the 6x60 Alicantes and the 5x54 Lanceros.

These are solid sticks. I haven't had one in a while, but I gotta get my hands on some more.

Ahhh...the days when I used to buy wheels of cigars for $60 and was happy as a clam.

I may have to try this...don't tell Moe!

I had the Alicante last week. Man was it good. Never new I was a Maduro fan before now. The Alicante was a little too oversized though for my prefs, I think I would like the Cervantes a little better. But these are really good smokes and at a great price.
