Rookie mistake

(In the confessional booth)

I was enjoying an LGC#1 last week on my ride to the river. It was dark and I was concentrating on my new route, while enjoying some good tunes. The cigar smoked like a dream for about 45 minutes, not a touch up required. Then it went to crap. I re-lit it, took a few puffs, then back out again before I could take another few puffs. This went on for about 3-4 miles. I realized the problem and was ready to chuck it (which I've never done to any LGC before a complete nub). I popped the interior light on to find the cause - I left the damm band on and had nearly smoked my way through half of it. I removed it and resumed uninterrupted enjoyment until it was gone.

What a dufus!

You just wait, Mike. Just wait.

I blame it on the darkness!

:D Been there, done that. At least not as bad though as sticking the lit end in your mouth in the dark...

I laugh because I have done this before.
Not as a noob, but after a decade of smoking.

We all have our off days.

I didn't notice any odd taste. It just wouldn't smoke with repeated lightings.

Exactly, I usually do that, especially while driving. Can't say it won't happen again, but I'll be a little wiser. After 6-7 years of solid smoking, this was a first. I'd rather do this any day than jam a lit stogie against my lips. Ouch!!

I lit the wrong end of a Bolivar Gold Medal before...dang thing started unraveling after the first couple puffs and had to throw it away just barely half way into it. Before, I used to clip the crown then toast the foot, but now I toast the foot then clip the head...no more problems with un-banded cigars and dim light :tu
