Smoking and Music
Hopefully this hasn't been done before. I was going to put this in the music/movies section but that seemed to primarily just be about movies and music as opposed to cigars. So if you aren't in a social gathering, or even if you are, what kind of music suits you while smoking? I know some people smoke in silence, but that's too boring for me most of the time:D

Re: Smoking and Music
I listen to everything except country. Mainly like classic rock, jazz, hip hop, jam, and a bunch others..

Re: Smoking and Music
Out on the deck in the summer, I tend to turn to 60s and 70s Motown.
|
Re: Smoking and Music
Everything from Texas Country to Rock to audio books or watching Netflix. Was great catching up on Mad Men while smoking.
|
Re: Smoking and Music
Lately I have been listening to thecigarstation.com on my phone, nothing out of the ordinary, but relaxing music and every now and then they will talk cigars. If I had a shop this would be on 24/7.

Re: Smoking and Music
The local college radio station used to play classical from 8ish until 11ish. I usually tuned into that and felt like the classiest man on earth.
Now I usually just put on some trance music and read on my kindle :/ Posted via Mobile Device |
Re: Smoking and Music
Blues, jazz, rock, pop, talk radio and audio books mostly. Although I did buy Compay Segundo simply for the sake of listening to him while smoking. Listen to his music all the time.

Re: Smoking and Music
I use the Pandora app on my phone and blast some Petty, Springsteen, Stones, alot of classic rock. And some new southern rock, like the Drive By Truckers.
|
Re: Smoking and Music
Lately it's been "Blues Guitar Legends" on Pandora :tu

Re: Smoking and Music
Smoking an M80 right now listening to Soulfly. Usually listen to metal/rock but will go with vocal jazz sometimes.
|
Re: Smoking and Music
Two Pandora stations are my favorite while smoking...Reggae and Hawaiian. Those two genres go very well with the relaxation of enjoying a cigar. Occasionally I'll throw on the Frank Sinatra station, but it's usually the other two :)

Re: Smoking and Music
70% of my smoking time is while i'm watching live band in a lounge...

Re: Smoking and Music
Generally something relaxing. During the day I'll bring out the speaker and play some classic rock with my roommates out on the porch with me. At night I'll generally switch to some of my relaxing stuff(Damion Suomi, Frank Turner, Johnny Flynn, Wadi Rum, etc)

Re: Smoking and Music
classic vinyl on xm... or any classic rock if no satellite radio around
or, in the ideal situation, acoustic banjo and guitar in dave's garage :ss |

I mostly listen to audio books. Although Buena Vista Social Club ain't bad either.
|
Re: Smoking and Music
In the summer, I love listening to baseball games on satellite out on the back deck while smoking. Other than that, I stream a bunch of indie rock while having a cigar.
|
Re: Smoking and Music
Classic rock, Talk radio.
|
Re: Smoking and Music
I listen to Boston's biggest Sport station. They talk basically about the Sports I'm interested in, and not the ones I'm not.
|
Re: Smoking and Music
Phish, String Cheese Incident, Yonder Mountain. Anything funky or bluegrassy.
|
Re: Smoking and Music
Hard to beat some T-Bone Walker
|
Re: Smoking and Music
I do most of my smoking in the car lately. I'm mostly listening to Sirius Liquid Metal (40), mixed with lesser amounts of NFL Radio (88) and Spa (68).

For me, I mainly listen to the wind/leaves/trees. I live out in the country, and enjoy the peace and quiet when I get my alone time without the SO and kids. |
Re: Smoking and Music
I have a great big playlist with all of my OAR, Dave Matthews, Zac Brown Band albums and also like streaming reggae internet radio. Very relaxing.
|
Re: Smoking and Music
Reggae fan? You should check out katchafire. One of my recent favorites.

Re: Smoking and Music
I listen to almost anything from country to metal depending on my mood. Most of the time I like to just read while smoking.
|
Re: Smoking and Music
Depends on my mood. My music tastes are pretty eclectic, can go from Yo-Yo Ma to Rush and end at Theophilus London and everything in-between.
But I REALLY like Rush. |
Re: Smoking and Music
Outside of classical, my Ipod has all kinds of music on it.
Since we live in a rural area, sometimes I just sit and listen to the peace and quiet. I read a lot while smoking too. |
Re: Smoking and Music
I like some nice relaxing metal like Iced Earth, Rhapsody of Fire, Helloween, or Dragonforce

Re: Smoking and Music
I'll listen to pretty much anything. I can't stand top 40 pop crap though. True country, blues, jazz, metal and rock.
Been on a 70's hard rock kick lately. Been digging the hell out of Rainbow, UFO and stuff from that era. One of my favorite relaxation albums for drinking/smoking is Morphine's Cure for Pain. Awesome stuff and it gets the wife all hot and bothered. ;) You should definitely be rocking out to Devil To Pay when you smoke though... ;) http://deviltopay.net/?page_id=107 |
Re: Smoking and Music
Usually old school country (Hank Sr, Waylon, Cash etc) or classical
During baseball season I listen to the game |
Re: Smoking and Music
I usually either read a book or watch Netflix while smoking, but I'll listen to some metal on Pandora or Rdio too.
