Good Weddind Day Stick?
Well, as the title says, I've found some poor young lady that somehow wants to saddle her life with me haha. I'm looking for ideas for a good wedding day smoke. I was thinking about picking up a Perdomo 10th Anniversary Champagne, and a Perdomo Habono. I was also thinking about a nice $20-30 Cigar.
I thought about an Ashton, haven't tried one Opus X, haven't tried one My Father 5 pack, and have one that day. I'm not really sure. I've tried a LOT of Cigars that are $4-12, but not a whole lot past that. Any help is appreciated. I'll edit this post when someone brings up a point I missed :noon |
Re: Good Weddind Day Stick?
Get the most expensive one you can get!!!! Thats because you will never be able to buy one again. J/K congrats brother on the pending wedding. For the $20 range, Padron Anniversary.

As a 2nd choice, Opus X XXX Super Belicoso |
Re: Good Weddind Day Stick?
Congrats!!! I'm a bit partial to the Opus X. Oliva Serie V is also a great cigar.

Re: Good Weddind Day Stick?
Congratulations. I'll be joining the club in July.
As for recommendations, why don't you have her smoke a Gurkha Beauty while you smoke a Gurkha Beast? |

Definitely get a Padron anniversary! They are great freaking smokes!

Re: Good Weddind Day Stick?
Hmmmmm.... some things to consider. Time, location, weather and drinks.
If you having a big wedding, then you'll probably be short on time. So, I'd go with an Opus X Robusto or and Ashton ESG 21 year salute. If your having a small wedding and have plenty of time to enjoy a nice cigar, then go with a Padron Family Reserve 45 year Maddy Toro. Try and have something else to drink besides champagne.... doesn't pair well with smokes, IMHO. Congrats, bro!!! |

Would go with a Padron 46th maduro. The Opus is a good choice but only with a lot of age on them.

Re: Good Weddind Day Stick?
On my wedding day I smoked a 2008 Monte Grand Edmundo LE while my wife was off having her hair done, a La Gloria Cubana No 2 after dinner and a 2009 H. Uppman Mag 48 LE after she went to bed (she was sicker than I've ever seen anyone with the flu on our day, nothing other than collapsing into bed was happening that night).
Also, do yourself a favour and buy a bid of your favourite 2012 LE's to lay away with the idea of smoking 1 per year on your anniversary. That way you have 25 odd years of good smokes bonded with the year you were married :tu |
Re: Good Weddind Day Stick?
You can never go wrong with an Oliva V, they are a great cigar - period!
Of course, for special occasions I really like the Litto Gomez Diez line, even more than Opus X. Peace of the Lord be with you. |

Re: Good Weddind Day Stick?
Oh, another thought. Smoke the wedding day stick at the bachelor party with some other cigar smoking bud. Unless she doesn't mind the smell/taste of you after you've been smoking.
Otherwise, if you don't indulge on your wedding night for her, I'm sure she'll enjoy you company a bit more - and I betting you will not be disappointed in the way she shows her appreciation. The next morning, with a pina colada in one hand, sitting on the beach of your private island in the Carribean (I don't know where you are honeymooning, just saying), you can enjoy a great cigar to celebrate your nuptials. Peace of the Lord be with you. |
Re: Good Weddind Day Stick?
I wouldn't pick something I hadn't tried before.
My suggestion would be to pick your favorite cigar and smoke up. It's not the stick, it's the experience. You sure don't want to remember that your congratulatory wedding cigar sucked, right? |
Re: Good Weddind Day Stick?
I'm getting married in October and have thought about this long and hard. I was going to smoke a Lost City that was gifted to me some years ago, but I doubt I'll have much time to burn a toro. I decided on an Opus Love Affair that has been resting for a year or so. Should only take 45 min. to smoke so you have time to go back inside and dance! The real questions is what to have for my guests...

If you've had a Padron X000 series, and enjoyed it, grab something from one of their premium lines. I personally prefer the 1926 series of smokes (the Maduros are :dr).

I say go with two- one that's expensive and well-reputed and you've been wanting to try and one that's a favorite you've already tried, in case the first one just doesn't do it for you. :2 |
Re: Good Weddind Day Stick?
I've smoked the Padron Family Reserve Maduro - 45 Years, and it was a hell of a smoke!!! Plus I thought it was good right out of the box. Opus' on the other hand, an amazing smoke, but would probably be better with a decent age. They are around the same general price of $20-30 a stick, but well worth the coin for such a special occasion, in my opinion!

Sidenote: What Rate are you? Are you at Cape May? Forgot to say, the Bachelor Party will actually be just smoking Cigars and having some beers at probably my Parents house. I'm not a huge bar guy, so relaxing with some nice Cigars sounds a LOT better. |

Re: Good Weddind Day Stick?
First Congrats on your wedding, I wish you a lifetime of happiness!
As far as the cigar is concerned, I would recommend a Davidoff Culebra. While there are many unconfirmed stories on how the culebra came to be, I like the "wedding cigar" story the most. If your unaware of what a culebra is; it is 3 cigars twisted together. After the ceremony, break it out, and hand one to your father, one to your wife's father (assuming they are still with us) and one for yourself and smoke them together. Even if they are not cigar smokers, they should consider engaging in this ritual as a moment for you 3 to bond and celebrate as well a way to share what you love with them. that's my 2 cents anyway. |

Brian, I would say smoke something that you have had before and loved. I have had a few dissapointing "special" day smokes that I had built my hopes up to high for. I would rather smoke something I know is gonna be great! |

Re: Good Weddind Day Stick?
If I was doing my wedding day again(I was not smoking cigars at the time 8ish years ago), I'd get a few GREAT sticks and smoke throughout the night....
We had an indoor/outdoor wedding, where the bar was outside....so we spent the majority of time out there.... People were smoking like chimneys. Probably could have had 3 cigars without issue. Bride/wife was a bit irked that there was not more dancing(there was plenty, trust me, including dinner, toasts, bla..bla.bla)....but it was an EPIC event. The only regret of that day..... I was not a cigar smoker... |
