Elogio Excepcionales
2 Attachment(s)
My local shop got these in today,I had to share this with the members.
300 boxes of 10 is the total production, and yes that is a quarter in the pic. I think it is an 88 ring gauge by 6 inches,it reminds me of the EGG from years back........... These will be sold out quickly....... |
Re: Elogio Excepcionales
People actually smoke those? 88 RG is ridiculous.
|
Re: Elogio Excepcionales
I would try one if I could get my hands on one. The largest RG I've had is a 72.
|
Re: Elogio Excepcionales
Not a big deal when the large ring gauge doesn't actually have to go in your mouth.

Re: Elogio Excepcionales
I wonder how it smokes. Those stupid eggs from way back when were notorious for having terrible draws. They tasted god awful as well, so maybe that was a good thing...

Re: Elogio Excepcionales
These smoke very good but I think the shape really hurts the smoke as they tend to start burning hot and turn sour as you make it past the widest part and it starts to make it's way back down into thinner RGs. I am going to give another one a shot but will definitely try and dry box it for a few days prior to smoking to see if that helps out any. Overall the Elogio LSV lines are very enjoyable. Was not overly impressed with their Habano line but I know a bunch of guys who prefer the Habano over the LSV so it's all subjective. The new lancero with the Ecuadorian wrapper is supposed to be amazing but I missed the meet and greet where they were giving these out to the boys to try before they are released.

I have never tried those egg shaped cigars but have always wondered how they would taste... I think the biggest cigar I have ring gauge right now is a DE My Uzi Weighs a Ton. Don't even know off hand what the RG is but that thing is huge! |
Re: Elogio Excepcionales
The Uzis are 60 RG.

Re: Elogio Excepcionales

Re: Elogio Excepcionales
We have more regulars come in for big ring gauge sticks than not at work. That said its all personal preference. They can smoke all the big ring gauges. Leaves more of the sizes I like for me

Re: Elogio Excepcionales
I'm personally not a fan of cigars that taper on both ends, or for torpedoes really for that matter. I would certainly give it a try though.
I am a fan of it just being different. If all cigars were the same, there would be no need for a cigar forum. |
Re: Elogio Excepcionales
60 RG = NO Gimmick, period.
I smoke 5x50 and 6x52 .... what can I say .... LOL Best, JD |

I myself can enjoy a good 60RG stick especially if the stick was blended for that size (ie Tatuaje Face or Grand Cojonu/JDN UZI) but will very rarely venture past that size. I tend to favor Toros the most as they give me the best of both worlds when it comes to flavor and burn time. I myself find that Petite Coronas and Lanceros do often bring the best out in a blend but in the warmer months I shy away from them as I usually want something that will burn for at least an hour. Come Fall and Winter it's game on for the PC and Lancero game. |

This is mostly from my own experience and observations running a B&M, it is by no means a declaration of fact, but I saw most 60+RG smokes sell to people who generally see "a cigar as a cigar." Most of them adamantly refused to spend more than $2-4 per stick unless it was a massive log, and many (and I mean MANY) first-time buyers and beginning smokers automatically raced for those larger ring or extra-long smokes, bypassing anything that wasn't clichéd. I fondly remember one guy comes in with his friend...both in their early 20's. He was a regular, his buddy was a first-timer. The buddy insisted on a LFD Digger (8.5x60 and potent), admitting that his choice was based on it looking "more manly" than what I was recommending. About 10 minutes and 2 inches of furious puffing later, it hit him and they had to leave. Our regular came back later that day and told the tale. Sadly I felt bad for the kid rather than amused at the story...that's one lost customer and one less cigar smoker to stand up for it. |
