Smoking in the wintertime

I'm getting depressed right now because I've collected a humidor and coolidor full of delicious sticks, but the weather has turned too cold to enjoy any of them outside! For those in northern states, what do y'all do to keep on smoking through the cold months? :sad

Re: Smoking in the wintertime

I'm lucky enough to have a B&M that has an amazing smoking lounge pretty close to my house. I don't get to smoke as much as I would like, but when I do, I get to hang out with a bunch of guys who enjoy cigars as much as I do. Also, if you have a garage you can get a space heater and smoke in there.

I do not live in the norther states but I am a total wuss when it comes to the cold. I would smoke in the garage right next to a space heater and cover myself with a throw blanket. Oh and you are probably going to need a drink to further your relaxation and to add some more warmth.

Local shops/lounges...or put a space heater in the garage for about an hour then head out or check this thread out... http://www.cigarasylum.com/vb/showthread.php?t=51704

Find a B&M, Baileys/Fox & Hound, or grab a heater for the garage/shed. :2

Re: Smoking in the wintertime

Yes, I am fortunate to have a nice B&M with a lounge nearby, but that really restricts when I can have a smoke. I shouldn't complain, I guess. At least, I have access to one!

I'll have to find a good space heater for the garage. Do you put a fan in the window to suck out the smoke, too?

I put a coat on. A hat and gloves are also necessary sometimes. I also have decided that my car is a perfectly reasonable place to smoke a stick. It doesn't need to be moving, but it has a radio, which is good.

When I was in Ct the B&M or car. Here in Va I have a heater and a good sized Rubbermaid shed 10'-10', I think it was around 400$ but it's dual purpose and holds heat very well.

It was miserably cold here in Louisiana recently...man I think it got down below 70 last night, fo sho I had to get dem johns long things out ma boat and wrap up like a crawfish all a'snug up in his lil' hole!

In a more realistic answer, an LP heater or three makes for a nice warm patio. A car, as mentioned, works wonders with the windows cracked and the heater on full blast and a tablet with Netflix. Personally, I'm lucky enough to have a local B&M with a 24hr club that I can go sit in to avoid the weather.

Same here. If it goes too many days of frigid temps, I just head down to the local lounge and torch up.

Re: Smoking in the wintertime

I love smoking in the winter. If it ever does get cold up here in New England to freeze the lake, one of my favorite things to do is to: take my dog for a walk, light a stick up and head out onto the lake and walk around on the ice. Talk to some of the ice fishermen (I don't fish in the winter but it's always nice to talk to them).
I also have space in my garage with a little space heater. I usually put a little fan behind the heater to spread the heat but also to help with pushing the smoke out the door. I put the door up a couple inches to help with air flow. I have a small TV out there with an original NES system to play Blades Of Steel and All Star Wrestling!!!!!

Re: Smoking in the wintertime

When it is cold out (32F and under) I will choose a short smoke (Party Short, PG Firecracker, etc) put on my jacket, hat and boots and head outside to smoke it. I like the cold so as long as I avoid sitting I am usually good to go.

Have a pic somewhere of myself smoking on the porch in a blizzard.

Re: Smoking in the wintertime

I wish I had a B&M!!! I smoke in the garage. In the AM, i turn the heater one, it is good to go in about 30 minutes. On the weekends I will leave it on all day, as long as I am home, so when I feel I want another smoke, good to go.

I am in Southern Oregon, Gets a bit cold here. I was smoking outside and not enjoying them as much last year. It for sure get cloudy in here!

I have a spare room, pretty small room, Might as well be a big closet, That I am workin on turning into a smoking room too.. Keeps warm and able to remove the smoke with a fan.

I usually just put on a jacket. It takes alot for me to be cold. I am however thinking of picking up one these heaters as my wife is cold if it gets below 72 degrees :r

The heater really does the job for when it gets below 40 degrees. I love smoking at night but without some form of heat while outdoors in the winter I just don't enjoy it as much. I don't mind it in the 40's or above but for me to really enjoy a stick I don't like when it gets in the 30's. This heater so far has certainly helped me!!! :tu

That's a nice setup. Does it run on propane? Doesn't look like your typical propane tank would fit in the base.

On sale now. Uses standard 20 lb. tank. I gotta say, very tempting as the price includes shipping until the 18th.

I wear 2 pairs of sweat pants, 3 sweaters, 1 winter jacket, boots, gloves and sit inside my garage with no heater. It is tolerable up to the point where the cigar will only take one hour to smoke. This is at the peak of the cold season.

More time than that and you will freeze your balls off! :gary

Yep! :tu Your normal propane tank just fits right in the bottom and has a hook up just like a propane grill does....

So...it's looking like I need to get a small space heater for the garage and maybe a fan to suck out the smoke. That might breath some new life into my cigar enjoying!

I know how you feel with not being able to smoke. It's not cold here but I woke up this morning with a sore throut and nothing has any taste. I had a 2 or 3 cigar day planned but now it looks like it will be thursday before I get to enjoy another cigar.

Reading this thread got me in the mood. Went out after the Pats game and lit up the heater and lit me up a stick. Sat there and cut up some cardboard for recylcing to pass the time and clean the garage up a little. Haven't had a cigar in a while.

I wish the B & M near me was more of a cigar shop, less of a head shop. Nowhere to sit and chill. I can make my way into the city to a cigar bar, but it's such a long trek, gets annoying. Plus I'd need a crowd, not that many of my friends do the cigar thing, at least not consistently enough to go somewhere just to smoke. And the Rochester crowd that gets together meets on Sunday night which doesn't work for me.

I feel your pain.

I transformed my detached garage into my own smoking lounge. it's got a wood burner, a bar, poker table and a tv. it's a pimp man cave 4 years in the making. Your welcome to stop by for a smoke anytime.
