do you eat or drink anything while smoking?
 

So I was in my local B&M the other day and got to talking to an older gent as we sat in the lounge smoking. I noticed that Avery couple puffs he was putting a chocolate chip in his mouth. I finally had to ask. He told me that he doesn't chew them, just lets them melt under his tongue and that it takes some of the edge off the more bitter sticks he likes. At the time I was smoking a Cain Nub Habano and tried it. Yes it took some of the edge off, but the flavors didn't seem to work together. I tried it again at home the next morning with a tabac especial cafe con lechery and it was really good....

Another Guy I have seen brings in a small flask of brandy and dips his cigars into it as he is smoking... tried that once, but didn't lie the soggy smoke...

So I got to thinking, what do others do? Is there any combo of food or drink that makes your smokes come alive for you? I normally have a mug of coffee with my morning cigar, and I find that on some of the stronger ones at night a coke or the like makes them better on the finish.

Never tried food but a cream soda occasionally works really good...there are lots of brothers on here that love coffee with a smoke. But a really good thread you shoal check out it..."show a picture of a great pair" may give you some ideas :tu

I usually drink something with a cigar. Coffee in the morning, water (or beer) when I smoke by myself and beer when smoking with others.

I'll drink something with a cigar, but its typically water unless I'm planning on smoking quite a few, then I'll have some root beer or cheerwine. Not sure why I enjoy the latter so much with a cigar but it goes real well IMO.

I usually have already eaten something before smoking; I like an adult beverage with a cigar, and if it's a strong stick or it's been a while since I ate, a pop with natural sugar back. My favorite is Heritage Dr. Pepper.

I like coffee with a cigar too; tea, not so much.

I really enjoy eating while smoking. Pizza, cheeseburgers, bacon, and steak :dr :dr

Picked this up when I use to smoke cigarettes, carried over into cigars.

Chocolate can be pretty good with a cigar. I don't like eating other foods with cigars though since it'll mess with the flavors more.

I'll drink a beer, sweet tea, or soda most of the time with a cigar.

I almost always drink some sort of dark pop/soda(Coke, Dr.pepper) while smoking. I will have to give the cream soda a try as i love cream soda.

Stella Artois, Water, sometimes a cold Coke. Other than that, nothing else really. I never eat though, I eat enough during the day that I shouldn't add to it lol.

I dont normally eat but I have before. I do however always have something to drink. Usually whiskey or beer. Sometimes coffee or coke.

Coffee, water, soft drinks (usually Diet Coke or Sprite.)

I like to keep Hershey Kisses around the house. They are great for cleansing the pallette between cigars. Or even to take away the taste of a particularly bad cigar or if one tarred up on me.

The only time I ever eat while smoking a cigar is at a local cigar bar that has some of the best burgers. I don't know why, but I can continue to smoke a good cigar and enjoy their burgers at the same time. I don't do it anywhere else.....strange

I don't usually eat when I smoke, but I'm always drinking something when I smoke cigars. Coffee, iced tea, water, beer, port, rum and bourbon are all good. :2

I always drink something while I am smoking. I usually go with some sort of coffee or just a nice tall glass of ice water. I need to experiment and see what else goes well with some of the different smokes I have. There are some good recommendations in here!

Well I have to say, I really like teh Ave maria's, but when paired with a Creme Soda... It was good, but the soda seemed just a bit to sugary. Tried it again tonight only with an Isla Del Sol by Drew Estate and that thing really came alive! definitely gonna do that again.

Like most I enjoy a beverage with my cigar. It all depends on the time, who I am with and what I am doing. I have become a big fan of Ports however I hate opening a bottle and wasting what I don't drink.

I almost always have coffee with a cigar. If it's late and I don't want the caffeine I go with water.

I like the idea of a rootbeer or cream soda. Might have to give that a try.

I don't like how food interferes with a cigar's flavor (and vice versa) but I do like to drink while smoking. I'll have a soda (Coke or Sprite usually), a beer (of any sort), or whisk(e)y to go with my cigars.

I like a coffee (mocha), sweet red table wine, or sometimes a soda (cherry coke), but prefer the coffee. I've tried chocolate (dark) with the wine and cigar. Good combo, but it depends on your taste.

I don't always drink beer when I smoke a cigar, but when I do, I prefer Dos Equis. ;) With the recent thread bump, I thought it was appropriate. :D

Seriously though... Bourbon, Scotch (all whisk(e)y's for that matter), rum, beer, coffee, water, and soda all work fine for me. Rarely, but occasionally, I'll eat while smoking. Usually it's at a cookout or something similar (like a herf at TriShield's...man the food!).

If I am trying a new blend, or want to taste just the cigar, then I drink water, on an empty stomach.

If I am just enjoying myself, or hanging with friends, I love coffee, a good whisky, dark or spiced rum, or a full flavored beer. If i'm not into drinking any alcohol a good cigar can taste great with a Dr. Pepper, root beer, or cream soda.

My ultimate favorite pairing is a nice port. To me, nothing pairs better.

clear spirits don't work well for me when pairing, but it certainly won't ruin may day either!

I like port with cigars as well, really pairs well with "earthy" smokes for me.

Patron XO tequila is nice to sip with a cigar as well.

Was just about to ask about tequila with cigars. Want to get into tequila as its one of the few hard liquors I can drink straight and enjoy. Need to get some Patron.

I'm a coke guy when smoking a cigar, or bourbon/ beer when I feel grown up, Cream soda is also a winner.

I've found this too! All my friends hate it. But with the exception of good bourbons, I can drink tequila straight with no bother, no burn. It's almost dangerous and I stay away from it purely for the reason of how smooth it goes down.
