The UNSMOKEABLES.

I've heard many people saying they like to get something 'cheap' for a yardgar so they dont have to worry about touching it up or if they drop it they can just light up another. well i've found something thats definately cheap!! has anybody else heard of these or better yet tried them? i figured i'd order some seeing as how its difficult to enjoy a nice cigar underway when im outside being smothered by others' cigarette smoke.. but i'd like to see what you guys have to say first :)

Re: The UNSMOKEABLES.

I've had the same thought. With the amount of time I spend doing work outside that I'd like to be smoking a cigar and not have to worry about "taking care of the 'gar" I've thought about buying these. The last time I was deployed my brother sent me some of the famous-smoke house blend sticks and I loved them. I think I'm going to try the CI sticks soon. Totally worth it.

Re: The UNSMOKEABLES.

From what I've read they are not worth a dollar a piece. You can find better cigars for not much more money.

Some people around here seem to like these. I smoked one once and it wasn't bad, from what I remember. Robustos are $25. They have the connecticut and maduro for the same price.

Why would I want to smoke sticks that...direct quote from CI...

"Well how about Crap, Crappier, Crappiest! Here are some, ahem, gems that are well suited for yard work (or maybe the mulch pile). Some are offensive..."

NO THANKS!!! :td :td

There are just WAY TOO many good, value sticks to actually enjoy while working in the yard than to smoke "crap". :2

Figured I'd throw some of my favorite value sticks out there...

Tampa Sweethearts #500 Maduro
Arganese ML3
Indian Tabac Super Fuerte Maduro
Maria Mancini Magic Mountain Maduro
Famous Nic 5000 (Toro is my fav)

The Famous Nics are a great smoke. I went through the 20 that my brother sent me very quickly.

look for Topper Cigars. I've heard they are Great cigars for the money. Haven't had one in many, many years.

Re: The UNSMOKEABLES.

Tampa Sweethearts can be good. I have also had a few stinkers of theirs that I could not finish. If you do try them I suggest letting them sit for a while. Just because they are made by Fuente means nothing. The tobacco they use was never meant to be used by Fuente other than as a training aid to teach the new rollers how to make cigars.

I bit on a sale from Atlantic for two ten-packs of Antonius cigars. Paid $64.00 for the privilege.

Anyone know about them?

Ugh, I am loathe to mention this...but you should take a peek at that *other* site and look up the Puff For Pennies MAW, there were some gems to be found there. And some straight up rocks.

Couldn't agree more! Their reverse pyschology won't work on me. If they admit the cigars are crap, I'll just take their word for it. Decent yard gars aren't that hard to find.

My favorite lawnmower stick - Curly Head Deluxe Maduro

Search around - probably can find them for $55/box.

Re: The UNSMOKEABLES.

Try Consuegra No. 9 maduro from JR. Age them for at least 6 months.

Also, I like the RP X-out 'C' and 'D', rumored to be factory seconds of OWR and Decades.
They used to be on CBid, but now Thompson owns them, iirc.

All you can do is try the cheaper smokes. If they taste like tobacco, and don't bore
your tastebuds, then go for it!

Re: The UNSMOKEABLES.

Sorry... I don't know anything about the "unsmokeables" but...

I've been smoking "Devil's Weed" as a work smoke for awhile now. I never know when I'm going to have to run to a call and snuff a cigar. Pretty darn good cigar for the price. I did note that the bands recently changed so I don't know if they have changed the blend or just the band.

http://www.cigarsinternational.com/p...m=CS-DWC&cat=3

I've never paid more than $1 a piece on their bid site.

I got bombed with a load of these as a joke once.
I've had most of them and didn't find a one that was worth a darn, not even for a yard gar.

Re: The UNSMOKEABLES.

I found some nic puro maduro bundles once that smoked great after they sat 8 months. They were clearly Oliva stuff, smelled like wet Olivas when they arrived, smoked somewhere between O's and S's when they were ready. Construction was spot-on. I can't recall what they were.
Sometimes it's worth taking a shot if the tobacco is right and it's what you like, but if the ad says they're made from show scrapings and lawn filler, why waste the hartd earned money?

Re: The UNSMOKEABLES.

Alot of great info guys! but with any other "what do you like" topic, after one person says what they like, someone else dissagrees. so i guess i'll just take all the suggestions you guys have given me, and find out what i like the best :). again thanks for the input! the more you say, the more dangerous my pallat becomes to those crap sticks!

You can add the Padilla 48 EL to the list. I got a bundle for 38 bucks for 20 and they're not too bad.

Re: The UNSMOKEABLES.

I have recently purchased some "yard gars".
The Devil's Weed and John Bulls.
You can get them for about a buck a piece.
I tried the Devil's Weed and would say it is very light and mellow, constucted well and burn good. It gave me some toast notes and maybe a light hay flavor. I have not tried the John Bulls yet but my neighbor smoked one and said it was a really good smoke for $1.00

They are not great or amazing, but for $1.00 or less I would recomend them.

Nice Shane, I love the devil's weed. It's a very good smoke for the price. As for the unsmokeables? I would pass, there are some other cheaper sticks out there that are way better.

@ matthew, what sticks would you be referring to? and Shane, let me know what you guys think about the john bulls. i'm definately interested in trying out some of the devils weed though - especially after seeing what a deal randy got on the bidding site!

I realize someone else already mentioned Connie's, but for the $, they're pretty darn good. My favorites,

#9 Maduro
#84 Maduro

As always, YMMV.

I smoked a Nick's Sticks Maduro torpedo last night while fishing. Quite a tasty stick and not a bad price, either. OTOH, I had an Ortiz while mowing the grass that I wouldn't have cared if I dropped it.

Here's 600 cigars that can probably be had for a reasonable price! In tubos, no less, so they will maintain humidity, and be free from worries of getting crushed! Anybody interested in a Group Buy??:D

Well I did my first review:

Personally I would rather smoke the Devil's Weed.

The DW maduros are nice sticks for the price. I'd give them a couple months rest at least, after that they should be smoking really fine.

As to the Unsmokeables, if CI isn't even able to spin the descriptions of them, it's probably a lost cause. If Frito-Lay released a new brand of chips called Inedibles would anyone really be surprised when they suck?

I smoke these things for a yard gar and think they are quite tasty. I sent one to Eric as a 6th smoke in the NST just for fun, to see what a more distinguished palate thinks of them. For a buck a stick they are a decent deal. :tu

I enjoy the Arganese maduro. At $1.50 a stick I find them to nice and sweet. A bit inconsistent in their construction and taste but worth it. They come in robusto and torps. I always keep a bundle around.

These sound terrible but I've never actually tried one so I can't really have an opinion. My favorite cheap some is the slow aged lot 826 from Perdomo. Cigarbid all the way for an everyday smoke. I know what you mean about being over crowded I'm a Marine and I just got sent to the 11th MEU so I am living the Navy experience. I wish there was another cigar smoker on board though.

sparkboss 10-06-2011 09:48 AM

Re: The UNSMOKEABLES.

what ship you with? we have the 31st MEU embarked right now, you got my hopes up till i saw 11. if you ever come out this way to the essex i'll let you get some of my stash!

There has to be somebody else on board that smokes cigars, just bring it up! from what i've noticed people are too shy or embarrased to be the only one in the smoke pit with a fat stick. but as soon as i mentioned it to a few people i was smoking it up in the smoke pit with a lance corporal, corporal, and sergeant on a regular basis!

Yeah, that's an excellent price for this cigar. Would be a great purchase to stick at the bottom of a cooler and forget about. Man, I shouldn't be buying anything, but I'm really tempted to grab another bundle of these.
