Tracking What Cigars you have
So How do you keep track of what Cigars you have?
I thought id never be to this point but I have almost 3 small Humidors fulls and I never know What all I have with out digging them all out every time. How does everyone keep track? Is there a good Mobile App? Computer Software? Spreadsheet? or Old Fashion Pen and Paper.. or do you just have that good of a memory? lol |
Re: Tracking What Cigars you have
Good memory for me. :D
Three vinos and two desktops...and still have an idea what sticks and where they are. Plenty of tetris practice keeps the mind straight. |
Re: Tracking What Cigars you have
Memory here too. I used to keep track but that became too tedious.
|
Re: Tracking What Cigars you have
mostly memory, soon ill make an excel spread sheet over a weekend with a complete inventory that ill make an attempt to keep up to date
|
Re: Tracking What Cigars you have
Memory would be great. But I got enough rattling around in my brain lol Barely have enough room to learn a new programming Language it seems every day at work I gotta learn a new programming Language to meet the needs of the government.. lol
Im 1/2 tempted to write my own website that stores all the information for me and others who would want to. |
Re: Tracking What Cigars you have
if you can manage to keep it up today, that would work great.
|
Re: Tracking What Cigars you have
I can't remember the last time I had a memory....it's all about looking into the box and moving sticks the old fashion way...by hand of course the next day I'm pissed at the wife for touching my cigars....see I have oldtimers and can't remember crap
|
Re: Tracking What Cigars you have
Mine are all just jumbled up in my vino drawers. I just go and pick something, makes it fun.:tu

I guess I have a small case of OCD and oldtimers lol |
Re: Tracking What Cigars you have
I don't. I have neither RAM nor ROM memory.
|
Re: Tracking What Cigars you have
I have never really thought to worry about it. I have a pretty good idea of what I have in singles and know the boxes that I have. In the end, it is fun to buy, stash and smoke.
I also enjoy a surprise every now and then. So like Hotreds, I don't....and don't plan on starting, regardless of how big the collection gets.... |
Re: Tracking What Cigars you have
I just get suprised everytime I dig through the humidor, more fun that way.
|
Re: Tracking What Cigars you have
I have a spreadsheet. It's really not that hard. Just track what comes in. BUT where it is in the humidor is another story! I have no idea. :sh

So Ive got pen and paper and figuring out a matrix of what all to record in the database, and what to use for search parameters and such. I Know Some people have there own ways.. Sounds like most like a surprise.. But I guess my deal is im still new and haven't smoked everything out there yet.. So When i goto a cigar shop sometimes i end up coming home with one I already had that I didnt know I had lol So Even if no one uses this.. It will be good for me. |
Re: Tracking What Cigars you have
After so many cigars, it's too many to keep up with. I just dig throgh them every now and then and surprise myself.
|
Re: Tracking What Cigars you have
I keep an online Google Spreadsheet. Whenever I smoke a cigar, I deduct it from my inventory from my Droid

Re: Tracking What Cigars you have
I dunno I just know roughly give or take 25-50 how many sticks I have. As far as what they are....meh I just dig through my cooler and desktop and find something I want to smoke at the time.

Re: Tracking What Cigars you have
I have a spread sheet using Micosoft Excel. works well.
|
Re: Tracking What Cigars you have
I designed a spreadsheet to use.

Re: Tracking What Cigars you have
My inventory is done by visual, take a look and see whats there. If you forgot about something, then its a nice surprise. Its not even worth trying to keep track. :tu
|
Re: Tracking What Cigars you have
My list isn't quite big enough just yet to have these kinds of worries, unfortunately. :sh
|
Re: Tracking What Cigars you have
I just take a look... I have a pretty good idea of what I have where.

Re: Tracking What Cigars you have
I've got a rough idea of what I have, but gave up really trying to keep track.
Anymore, whenever I see an opening I think I can fit a box into, I just order a new box. It's a lot easier this way. |

MS Excel Spreadsheet

Re: Tracking What Cigars you have
I pick a humidor open it up and pic one off that top. I also have my set up so that I have everyday sticks on the left, good sticks in the middle and great sticks on the right of every humidor. So depending on what I'm in the mood for I know where to look.

Re: Tracking What Cigars you have
RFID tags and asset manager database. Right now it's only 2D and by box, but I'm working on an upgrade that tags every cigar individually and with a few more readers, it'll show a 3D representation of the humidors so you can actually see where each cigar is.

Re: Tracking What Cigars you have
I love finding stuff in there that I've forgotten. The other day I found a Hemmingway Masterpiece from 96 and half a box of Tat T110.

Re: Tracking What Cigars you have
I use Mobile Stogie
|
Re: Tracking What Cigars you have
I just keep track of cigar containers. I know where most of them are at all times. :tu

It is never really up to date, but my system works for me. When I order a box I put in all the info except the box code. When it comes in a update the record with the box code. I hardly ever update the numbers as I smoke them. When I am done with a box I remove the whole record. |

Re: Tracking What Cigars you have
I don't track either, I'm far to lazy for that.
I just dig around and see what I can find. I found 2 tins of Opus yesterday that I forgot I had, I don't even remember when I bought them. :) |

Re: Tracking What Cigars you have
A little bit of memory and like Tom, I enjoy a good surprise!
I organize by size, vitola rather than brand. I also keep CCs in a different humidor from NCs because they tend to fight.:D |

RateMyCigar, which is an Android app. Discussed some here.

Excel

Re: Tracking What Cigars you have
Stogie Rate has a nice cigar inventory spreadsheet. I just log in my cigars that I receive and put them away. So far, I know the location of any cigar in my stash, I think! Also, it is a pain to deduct the sticks you smoke...not that anal!

1. Memory - Random Picks 2. Excel spreadsheet 3. Mobile Apps 4. RFID Im going ahead forward with www.mycigarlocker.com If it pans out great.. if not.. It was fun creating it. Hopefully I have something that works in the next week or so. |

Re: Tracking What Cigars you have
I use cigar briefcase. It is a bit cumbersome to use in that most of the cigars are not in the database but it works ok when I use it. More often than not I just look thru the humi and the cooler to pick a stick. One of these days I will get organized!
