Any sword/knife collectors out there?
5 Attachment(s)
I was just wondering. I'm a huge knife/sword collector. The little knife is a 1932. Original paper boy. I got it from my grand father and a couple others when I was growing up. Ill post more knives if anyone is intrested.
O yeah the last one isn't a knife, its a compus and protractor from W. Germany I thought it was pretty cool. Knip. |
Re: Any sword/knife collectors out there?
Mostly knives. I do have a set of swords I gave my father from Rota. I'll try to take some pics of the collection soon as I get a chance. Got a house full of folks for the Holidays currently

Re: Any sword/knife collectors out there?
Nice collection wolfgang. Ill take some pics of the knives I have, I tried to do the photobucket thing and it said file to big so I'm going to try and take a couple at a time and see if it works. I have mostly old ones. Some from my grand father and what not. Then I have my work ones.

Re: Any sword/knife collectors out there?
I love swords, knifes and anything that could do some serious damage if used properly. I started as a kid so most of my stuff is low budget budK crap but it'll still take the head off a chicken or slice a watermelon in half if the occasion calls for it!

Re: Any sword/knife collectors out there?
I have several folding knives from SOG, Kershaw, Benchmade, Spyderco, etc.
I also have some fixed blades from Smith and Wesson, Ka-Bar, etc. I have a hand forged folded steel Katana as well from Japan. Not a replica, the real deal. |

The katana on the right side of my tv is the original one I broght back with me from japan. Its real forged steel. And the one on the left side is one I bought in japan for my wife. Its a ceremonial katana. Next time I go back to japan I'm going to grab a couple more.

Re: Any sword/knife collectors out there?
Ok sorry for the delay. I'll be soo ready when the holidays are over
First off is the BudK you asked about amigo. I have it on my shoulder rig set to hang between my shoulder blades. http://img28.imageshack.us/img28/2179/knife4.th.jpg [url=http://img28.imageshack.us/i/knife4.jpg/] This is a close up of the primary in that sheath http://img841.imageshack.us/img841/8471/knife3.th.jpg [url=http://img841.imageshack.us/i/knife3.jpg/] My Gil Hibbon Bowie Knife http://img818.imageshack.us/img818/4849/knife2.th.jpg [url=http://img818.imageshack.us/i/knife2.jpg/] On the bottom is a Smith & Wesson HRT. I've carried that knife damn near everywhere. One of the best and most reliable knives I've owned frankly. The top is some knock off fantasy/survival knife I was given. Neat to look at but I wouldn't take it anywhere. http://img98.imageshack.us/img98/6533/knife1p.th.jpg [url=http://img98.imageshack.us/i/knife1p.jpg/] |
Re: Any sword/knife collectors out there?

Re: Any sword/knife collectors out there?
Doh! Thought you meant the brand
The knife brand is decent however! :D Back in February they bought the Kissing Crane company, this was one of the first models they released under BudK not the KC name. They still do a KC line (which is a phenomenal line IMHO, YMMV) but this one shows a lot of the lineage. |
Re: Any sword/knife collectors out there?
That's cool, ill have to check them out. But check out budk they have crazy prices like really dirt cheap.

Re: Any sword/knife collectors out there?
I'm in the same boat as Bill86. I used to have a pretty vast collection. I'm down to a few now myself.

Re: Any sword/knife collectors out there?
Thinking of picking up a Benchmade Shoki 480 pretty soon. I have a few other Benchmade and Kershaw knives, however, they can be a bit tatical in apperance and scare the sheep when used around the office. The Shoki 480 just looks classy.

The worst example? Special Forces Fighter Knife Which is a blatant knock off of Mick Strider and Duane Dwyer's knife design - Strider BT Like I said, not trying to rain on your parade, just pointing out why they are so cheap. |
Re: Any sword/knife collectors out there?
I haven't bought from them yet, but that would explain it. Thanks for the heads up.

Re: Any sword/knife collectors out there?
A lot of knives you'll find are made in taiwan and japan. The quality is pretty poor. IMHO without being a douchebag, any knife you buy under say $75 bucks that ISN'T from a major company you can bet it's a knock off or a China cheapie. You'll just end up hurting yourself and it's really not worth it. There are fantastic knives out there in the $50-$100 range that aren't of questionable origin.

Re: Any sword/knife collectors out there?
Yeah CASE has some that are good and there reliable.

Re: Any sword/knife collectors out there?
I love me some CASE. That makes up the majority of my collection.

Re: Any sword/knife collectors out there?
Also just added a Sam McDonell to my collection today. Its certainly a beautiful knife and a return to my roots.

Here are some pics of some of my blades:
Here's an Afghan sword dated 1896. Is it real? Sure. There it is. Is it from 1896 or 2006? Who knows. http://i317.photobucket.com/albums/m...rsSword-RS.jpg http://i317.photobucket.com/albums/m...rsSword-Hi.jpg http://i317.photobucket.com/albums/m...ersSword-2.jpg http://i317.photobucket.com/albums/m...ersSword-1.jpg Afghan Martini-Enfield bayonet (Pattern 1903 by Wilkinson) http://i317.photobucket.com/albums/m...3Wilkinson.jpg |

Here are some British Bayonets:

Re: Any sword/knife collectors out there?
The 2 top ones look like stage coach bayonetts. The have a coach gun that has springloaded bayonettes on them that are cool if you find an origginal there about 10-15Gs.

Re: Any sword/knife collectors out there?
Top British bayonet is for a Pattern 1853 rifled musket, such as this 1856 Tower:

Here's a couple more picks they were to big to upload. But the one that is gold I picked up in Egypt when I was passing through. And then most of the rest I have gotten over the years from my grandfather.

Re: Any sword/knife collectors out there?
I'm a little late with this but Today I found out Lone Wolf was bought by Benchmade. While this may get lone wolf designs out there and more affordable Im sure going to miss the hand crafted quality of Lone Wolf. Please don't screw this up Benchmade.

Re: Any sword/knife collectors out there?
I recently got into throwing knives, since I hadn't had any and I love knives as you all do. I just picked up my third Cold Steel True Flight thrower. I love the simple design and weight of these beauties. They stick so well and the paracord has lasted me longer than expected.
