Re: winter smoking? yep stupid question, carry on
Find some smaller sticks Devan. :D
|
Re: winter smoking? yep stupid question, carry on
Ice fishing gloves. Space heater. :tu
|
Re: winter smoking? yep stupid question, carry on
Yeah I agree, it's 18 degrees out. I'm not smoking, as far as stress levels well that's why there's alcohol :tu :r.

Re: winter smoking? yep stupid question, carry on
Toughen up and take it like a man. Just joking. Go with smaller sticks like Mac said and bundle up. The cold has never stopped me. Slowed me down yes, but not stopped me.

Re: winter smoking? yep stupid question, carry on
This time of the year its below 0F mostly everyday where I live. I have yet to work up the nerve to go outside for a cigar. Maybe when it gets to about 10-20F on a random day i'll have one lol.

Smoke in your car :)

Re: winter smoking? yep stupid question, carry on
OK... first of all, I know you can get on my arse 'cause I have the Gator Cave to smoke in. However, for a Florida boy it gets cold out here for me. Right now it is 53 in here. I keep the door open outside some, but either way I have an electric space heater facing me that keeps things pretty toasty. It works for me whether I have a short smoke or a longer one.

Re: winter smoking? yep stupid question, carry on
:tpd:
My car is one of the best places I have to smoke, next to a warm shed:D |

There's probably quite a few 30 minute smokes, fuente short story comes to mind. Also you could just buy a box of budget smokes and smoke as much of them as you can before tossing the rest out and not worrying about it. |
Re: winter smoking? yep stupid question, carry on
A good winter coat, an awesome hat and then: petit corona, machine made smaller sticks, go for a good ride in your car, and then the shop.

Re: winter smoking? yep stupid question, carry on
Cohiba Clubs are my favourite choice. Then I would get a heater, Canada Goose jacket and 4 fingers worth of scotch.
|
Re: winter smoking? yep stupid question, carry on
at work I have same issue no garage no enclosure just the nipply outside ,I put on a jacket light up either a small ring, inched cigar or smoke for about 15 -20 mins drinking coffee and smoking then lay it in a dry area and come back to it later when I want some more, works great cause 1 its cold 2 I'm at work so I can't sit outside for an hour +.

Re: winter smoking? yep stupid question, carry on
Fuente Cubanito's and Davidoff Mini's the godsends of the frozen hell that is a Minnesota winter. But I'm a wuss nowadays and smoke on my couch.

Re: winter smoking? yep stupid question, carry on
Illusione 68s are good and small, but wow, 20 degrees is cold. When your'e 21 get some Crown. It's in the low 50s here right now and I don't even want to go to the garage and smoke. I would do all I could to get to the cigar store more than 2x a week.
|
Re: winter smoking? yep stupid question, carry on
It's so cold right now, I have to wear socks to smoke outside, 60* :D

Re: winter smoking? yep stupid question, carry on
If you need to smoke you can pick up some small cheap sticks like the Tampa Sweetheart 500s or one of my favorite winter time smokes, Pepin Black Pequenos. When I was commuting most of my winter smoking was done in my car.

Re: winter smoking? yep stupid question, carry on
I tend to smoke stronger cigars in the winter, to "thaw me out" so to say. I'd suggest small full bodied cigars to get yourself started.

Re: winter smoking? yep stupid question, carry on
Poly Pro's, Gortex, Ft Lewis boots and nomex gloves. Your good to go!

On the cc side, and I'll likely get skewered for saying this, but Cohiba cigarettes are really damned good. I don't inhale them at all, I retrohale them. If you smoke two back to back, they'll throw a nicotine buzz on you, and I think they're delicious. So far as smoking in the cold goes, I love smoking a cigar while I'm shoveling snow. I'm not at all a fan of just going out and sitting in the weather, I'm too pussified. If there's no wind, I'll fire up the heaters in the shed and smoke while I'm working out there. Occasionally I'll sit on the porch at night and have a smoke if it's still. For the most part, my smoking pretty much ceases till it warms up outside. |
Re: winter smoking? yep stupid question, carry on
Doesn't davidoff make a cheap skinny cigar cig type thingy

+1 for shorter stick....I love to get bundled up and take the dog for a walk on a snowy night or a cold evening....but limit it to 30-45 mins...thus I'm not buying Churchills this time of year :)

Re: winter smoking? yep stupid question, carry on
I set up a smoking shed, but even at 13 degrees it's too cold. I usually just don't smoke. Kinda sucks, been dying for a smoke all week.

Re: winter smoking? yep stupid question, carry on
Im insulating my garage right now and buying a heater. Its 10 degrees not to mention the wind chill.
|
Re: winter smoking? yep stupid question, carry on
Are winters are not bad here , but yes I bundle up with a blanket and a heater and a good book in the garage after the wife and kids go to bed.

Re: winter smoking? yep stupid question, carry on
when i lived in upstate NY, I would go to the garage with a space heater and some heavy clothing. Now that I am in Kansas, it is still cold, but not anywhere near the NY winter. I have a soldier's barracks about 200 feet from my house and I can see the guys out there smoking all hours of the day and night, in the snow, in the wind, whatever.
Yeah, go into you car and switch to smaller smokes for a few months...Alabama is a sauna compared to some places in the winter. |

Wow I guess I'm a really lucky guy. Down here in New Orleans, the average winter temp is like 55ish. We just had our coldest week ever (high 20s)...but it's going be a lot warmer in couple of days.

Re: winter smoking? yep stupid question, carry on
-2 here right now in Chicago. Big jacket, thick gloves and hat, cup of coffee and a fire and you're set :tu You get used to it after a while.

Why is it that I never hear of an Eskimo complain about it being too cold to smoke a cigar outdoors for 2-hours? :noon

Smaller cigars so you don't have to sit for 1hr+ is the first thing I try to keep in mind for winter. Next, try to scope out someplace with an overhang, or is protected from the wind. I still smoke at night when it's freezing, or snowing, I look like a mountain man with the boots, pants, carhartt, and a beanie! You won't find the wife out there for more than a couple minutes, but it's nice and peaceful. It's relaxing even if it is cold, clouds moving fast across the moon make for a great smoke. :2 |

Re: winter smoking? yep stupid question, carry on
I usually walk the dog and take the cigar with me. As long as the wind isn't bad and the temp is over 20 it's not too bad. I've also done some work under my deck and if the weather is at least 30s, I can sit under there semi protected and enjoy a cigar. My next step is to seal it off a bit better and buy a heater of some kind. I'll leave enough of an opening to let the smoke escape between the deck floorboards.

Re: winter smoking? yep stupid question, carry on
These have been working out for me:
http://i161.photobucket.com/albums/t...tel/photo1.jpg 4.0" x 38, take about a 1/2 hour to smoke. Some have a rather tight draw. Hoping to score some MX2 in the same size soon. |
Re: winter smoking? yep stupid question, carry on
Love Cali.

Being in the northeast I have braved winter winds but I am very tired of freezing my butt off. I have recently discovered a little space in the house; the attic! Oh the beauty of a bunch of junk and no insulation. I t is still about 65 degrees there, downright balmy. I have an old wood chair up there now but will make it a bit more comfy in the next few days. Give it a shot, better then the wind.

Re: winter smoking? yep stupid question, carry on
Here in the mitten I'm relegated to the garage. I have a propane heater, bundle up, and usually go for nothing bigger than a robusto. I stay warm enough even when I crack the door.
Just can't wait for spring :tu |
