So what's the line on Farve retiring for good mid-season?
Minny is now 1-3, Farve looks like his December worst already, and now there are pictures of him holding his hog circulating the net with a potential suspension looming.
Randy Moss or not, I don't see him finishing this year. |
Re: So what's the line on Farve retiring for good mid-season?
I see rainbows to Moss as why he DOES finish the year. The self-absorbed, narcissist cares only about the TDs he throws and seemingly not at all about the picks. The national media reverentially refers to him as a "gunslinger" -- a more apt moniker would be "dream killer".

Between the dope smoker and the octogenarian I don't really care if they become the LA Drag Queens.
The Vikings are perennial annoyances to any fans that have hope they will ever hold the Lombardi, and they never will. |
Re: So what's the line on Farve retiring for good mid-season?
If Farve sits down, what's the Vikes option? Byron Leftwich? :r
The Vikings organization is committed to spending big money to win, or at least to put asses in seats. Do I think Farve/Moss is the answer? I don't think anyone does. Brett went 60 yards downfield to Moss last night, and that's likely the longest ball he's gonna throw for the rest of his life. You can't "buy" a football team, you gotta build one. If the Vikes spent all that money on building a club, chasing some young studs and making some smart moves, they'd be truly dangerous. Farve wants to play ball, and someone wants to pay him 26 million to do it this year. I don't see him sitting down unless he gets busted in half. |
Re: So what's the line on Farve retiring for good mid-season?
I didn't see much of last nights game, but the parts i did see it doesn't look like Farve can throw the deep ball to Moss to make him affective. 5 shots into his ankle already? I think that he's done!!! Now I don't know what the "shots" are that he's getting but being in the medical field, that can't be good!!!!!

Re: So what's the line on Farve retiring for good mid-season?
If he's upright...he'll finish the year. He's had injuries every season in the league, it seems. There was the one year he played with a broken thumb on his throwing hand. His year with the Jets playing about half a year with a torn tendon in his throwing arm.
Honestly, the biggest obstacle for this team is the head coach. I've been saying this for Chili's entire tenure here. I don't see him as having what it takes to be able to bring a team to the promised land. Look at how they started the game last night. That HAS to be the most unprepared I have ever seen a team coming out of a bye week to a big game (or any game, honestly). THAT, my friends, is on the coaching staff. They seemed completely unprepared to come out and play. That had nothing to do with Donglegate or the addition of Moss to the Vikes. I'm of the opinion that they did well last year despite Childress, not because of him. He's generally a horrible coach at making adjustments, and gets outcoached on a regular basis, IMO. As for Faereeevervarvervarveravrevravervarve and his ankle, it's not 100%. How could it be at his age, with the beating he's taken over the years. The injections are not a painkiller, but a series of lubricant injections to help keep what little range of motion he has left. What exactly were those injections? I'm not sure, but it was supposed to help keep movement possible there. |

Favre's too proud to retire, but I'd wager he doesn't finish the year.
Injury or suspension ends his career before the season is half over. :2 Love the player, hate the person he's become. |

It's easy to get the media mixed up with the ballplayer. While he might come out and suck some days, you're gonna get 1000% out of him every single game. I said it before and I'll say it again... Brett Farve will be able to outgame most of the quarterbacks in this league 20 years from now, in his hoveround. |

Re: So what's the line on Farve retiring for good mid-season?
I was disappointed with last night's game. They should not take this long to find a groove. Our defense is STELLAR. Holding the Jets to ZERO TD's with how long they held the football? But the Jets did tame Jared Allen.
Running game is decent. Percy Harvin + Moss + Rice would be a real contender. Are all the pieces there? Yep. Just need to put them together. My .02. I have NO idea why they didn't put Moss in motion ONCE. |

Re: So what's the line on Farve retiring for good mid-season?
I dont see him lasting all season, did you see him holding his elbow.
That tendennidis is going to flare up the more and more games he plays. The Vikings sold their soul for Brett Favre to come back, and its going to be all for nothing! |
Re: So what's the line on Farve retiring for good mid-season?
Ya gotta admit.... he makes it fun to watch. Its like a train speeding towards trouble. Sometimes it makes it through to the cheering adulation, sometimes its crash and burn. (Interceptions) In either case it keeps you watching.
Brutal schedule for the Packers coming up. Should be interesting. Maybe if they had a world class running back to hand off to occasionally..... :D |

I know Vin pretty good. I'm absolutely certain he has a real good clue about everything he's talking about. If I disagreed with him, I'd ask him why he thought that way, because I'd value his input, and appreciate his insight. It's probably a more respectful way to handle a disagreement, whatever it may be. |

I guess I just have thicker skin, or don't need anybody else to stand up for me. If someone says I have no clue what I'm talking about, I can handle that cause I'm a man. I don't need someone else to fight my battles.

The running game is better than decent...they just don't run enough. AP has only 18 carries in a game where it was a slog fest in the first half? Are you f'in kidding me? Run your horse!!! He's one of the top 2 backs in the game! Use the running game to open up the passing game! As for the D, I'll borrow a take that I've heard...Allen disappears against the top tackles. Ferguson essentially ate him up last night. He will terrorize the weaker tackles, but the best of the best have very little trouble with him it seems. I'd expect him to be able to beat one of them occasionally. However, he DOES make plays down the line and has chased things down from the backside, so I won't completely rake him over the coals on this one. But for the kind of $ he's making and his reputation... Why not put Moss in motion? He has no idea what the terminology and anything else they'll need him to do is. Look at the routes they had him running: flys. posts, post corners...essentially all deep routes. Once he actually learns the offense and has a better grip on what's going on on the plays, they'll be able to move him around and utilize his talents even more. think about this...even with his limited knowledge of the O and 2 TOP CBs on the opponent, he still had 80yds and a score. Plus, how his presence opened up the middle for Harvin. I hope that we'll see things open up more for Shiancoe as defenses try to keep an eye on Harvin AND Moss. |

As far as Moss, I think he's a great receiver, and just don't like to see him used as a decoy. I get the idea behind it, though. Obviously, as the case was with the Harvin TD pass. Quote:

Re: So what's the line on Farve retiring for good mid-season?
In my own self-absorbed way I hope Favre makes it all the way through this season. I've said since his bullshit prima donna pre-season behavior that he wasn't going to lead the Vikings anywhere but down this season. As a Bear fan this comes in handy to only have two teams that matter in the NFC North.
However I don't think his body is going to hold up. One more good shot to that ankle like he got from the Bears at the end of last season and it's doneski. Plus he isn't bright enough to realize that taking pictures of your junk only impresses 13 year old girls and possibly 5% of the female population over the age of 18. Flag on the play. |

Whether Favray is a "Judas" or "a friend" is interesting, yet he's 4 games in and already feeling hits pretty hard. Simply a matter of time, physics, and physiology, (and some would say injected shark piss, hormones, roids, and voodoo dolls) before the inevitable.
Oh, note to self: Take the railroad spike out of the voodoo dolls ankle... "Wrangler cain't ride with a frozen ankle"..... |
