Tat's New Monster Series
Saw a picture on Facebook someone took at IPCPR of Pete's new series. The pic I saw had a box and a cigar, and it was called "The Face". This has me really excited since I've missed out on the past series. Anyone else have any info? Looks like a big cigar from the pic.

It's a 6 3/8 by 56rg. Supposed to mirror the original Leatherface.
Here is an interview with Pete talking about all of his new stuff, including The Face at IPCPR |
Re: Tat's New Monster Series
I've yet to lay hands on any of the Monster series. No Tat distributors out here. How do they compare to say the Tat Black flavor profile?

Re: Tat's New Monster Series
How boring! My call was it was going to be called "The Mummy" and wrapped in tissue paper. I guess he didnt want to pay for the rights to the name.

Re: Tat's New Monster Series
You're not missing anything. The brown labels blow them out of the water. I love Tatuaje but I do not even attempt to get the special releases. They are simply not as good as the regular line. I've had a handful of each Monster Series and they all left me with a big......meh.

Re: Tat's New Monster Series
blah, blah, blah... I'm so over all the hype...I'd rather have a kick ass cigar with no band that comes in a bundle. Probably not going to happen though, because everyone seems to want pretty packaging. The last time I tried to smoke the box, it burned my lungs....so now I only smoke the cigars themselves.

One things for sure...no matter what he calls them, what they look like, what they taste like, or how he promotes them....They will be sold out.

For the most part I have enjoyed the special release Tats. This one I will pass on though. The RG is just to large for my liking.

Re: Tat's New Monster Series
So many new releases what is a person to do. I though Rocky Patel was bad, I am thinking Tatuaje is out for the grand prize on different cigars they can offer.

Re: Tat's New Monster Series
That box is not the actual box. That was from teh S.T. Dupont booth.
The actual face boox is a rustic unfinished wood box with cuts and blood splatter. |

I'll be honest and I will be looking for these when they come out. May not go with a full box but a 5er or two will be in my sights.

Re: Tat's New Monster Series
Anyone else notice the Tat products from Dupont? Im guessing it will be somewhere in the $400-$500 neighborhood. Another expensive lighter without a case, no less.

Re: Tat's New Monster Series
I'll be on the lookout for the them... but won't be disappointed if I don't score some. +50 rg cigars aren't my cup-o-tea.

I AM looking forward to this cigar and all of the new releases. He puts out some damned good cigars. He also has said in interviews that he has fun with the cigars and enjoys making LE sticks. So if you don't like then don't buy. Remember what mom's have been saying for generations,"If you don't have something nice to say then don't say anything at all." Besides, I think the OP was asking for info and not opinions even though I just gave mine. |

I am greatful that the monster series is continuing as for a period of time that was in question due to the comments / problems created by the availability from last years release. It simply was not fun to continue. Quote:
Maybe Pete will chime in on the blend, tasting notes, etc. Better yet, if he could send me one, I will post a review immediatly....:r |

Re: Tat's New Monster Series
If I had a spare $500 I'd be all over this. The cutter and lighter look awesome, and I'd love to be able get a box of the monster series on release, since I really wasn't into boutique cigars when the previous series were released.

Re: Tat's New Monster Series
Tasty!
To bad 3 B&M's screwed me out of an overpriced box last year, Pfft, the hell with it, still got a partial box of the Franks and I am good to go ;) No hype for me |

Re: Tat's New Monster Series
I think its a great great concept, and the dedication to try to personify a character within a cigar is a really interesting idea. Make me want to look up every cigar I smoke for the off-chance it has a cool back story that might allow me to enjoy it further...
That being said, 56rg is big. Almost too big for my liking. I will try to find one, but I wont be disappointed if it doesn't come through for me. |

I'm In. Not for the lighter/cutter set, but for the stick.

Re: Tat's New Monster Series
I love the hype. Cigars for me are a hobby not a means for a nic fix so this kind of marketing just brings a bit of fun to it all. AND, for all this (providing you don't get gouged) $13 dollars is doable.:2

I look at it like eating at a fine restaurant. The place can serve beautiful dishes, receive rave reviews, and be nearly impossible to obtain a reservation at, but the proof is in the pudding. If I paid $100 for a meal at one of these type establishments that was not as good as the local burger joint, I'd say the same thing. A $7 meal (what the meal is worth, not what it costs) at a restaurant that is over-hyped and over priced is still a $7 meal. Hype is good when you have something that is worth getting hyped up about. To me, I want a $13 cigar to taste like a $13 cigar, not a $6 cigar in $13 cigar packaging. I'm sure I will get my hands on a couple of the face when they come out. I always enjoy trying new cigars. However, don't expect to see me chasing down one of the collectors boxes by calling every listed vendor in the country and paying 2x MSRP. The face might be the best offering by Tatuaje yet, and if so, I'll be sure to sing its praises. But, seeing how folks went crazy over Franks, Dracs, and Boris, and then actually tasting them made me realize that the quality of the cigar is determined by the tobacco and the hands that rolled it, not the box that it came in or the limited number made. To Pete's credit, at least he is offering more of the cigars for folks to try than in previous releases. Hopefully, this will alleviate some of the hard feelings that folks had with their local B&Ms who sold their Franks and Dracs to phone/internet customers for lots of money or who stashed them away hoping for a big time future payday. |

Re: Tat's New Monster Series
There were three rollers for this cigar: One for the filler/binder, one for the wrapper, and one for the band. Cool concept.

Re: Tat's New Monster Series
The only monster series i've had were the Boris. The Boris was a stand up smoke one of the best Tat's i've had IMO. I had a few Drac's but gifted them out and never got my hands on a frank so i'm only 1 out of 3 so far. But i'm gonna do my best to not do what i did last year (only buy a few of each). So far i really enjoy almost everything that Tat was to offer so i'm gonna try to load up on at least one box. If i don't like them there will be other people that do who i can sell the box too.
I'm really looking forward to this new stick and i think Mario nailed it on the head about Pete. |
Re: Tat's New Monster Series
I'm a huge Tat whore, but haven't ever been able to get my hands on a Monster series. Pete says these will be a little less frustrating to get a hold of, so hopefully I'll be able to get some.
