The Opening Day Thread

Happy Opening Day!

What is everyone smoking today? Which game(s) are you watching?

Go Mariners! FTW! (Lee on the disabled list? Why? Maybe it is because his shoulder is pushing the ball to the side of home plate... in the general vicinity of the batter's box?)

I haven't picked a game yet. I'll see what's on. I'll probably watch the Pirates.

I picked the Mets/Marlins. Damned good game, but the Marlins forgot to show up. They're having a hideous defensive game. Nice to see the Mets kicking ass though. :tu

Now it's Cubs/Braves. Just turned it on and it's sloppy already. Looks like I can get three ballgames in today. :D
Wait...
There's a 7:00 game and two 10:00 games. I might be able to catch four games today. The cool thing is that I can do whatever I want and drag the game with me. The games look freakin awesome on the ipad. I'm surprised mlb.tv doesn't suck. I really didn't expect much and never imagined it'd be this good. :tu

Good day for my Cards.
Pujols w/ a 2 HR, 3RBI performance, Carp was lights out (OK, good enough), Yadi finishes off the game with an 'insurance' Grand Slam.
11-6, ahhhhhh.

Jason Heyward just stroked a three run shot for Atlanta.
His first major league at bat, against Carlos Zambrano. The kid must be walking on a cloud. His Mom and Dad were there to see it, too. :tu

I have Albert in Fantasy Baseball. 10 total bases and 4 runs and 3 rbi's ain't a bad first game. Sure made me happy. The man is a machine, no doubt.
Imagine how he'd hit if he was on the juice? :)

If you're not watching the Braves/Cubs game, you'll kick yourself. The Braves are looking very solid offensively.

AZ is rocking SD... kind of like a triple A team beating up on a single A team... zing! :=:

Drew hit a dinger, which is good to see him get off to a nice start.

I feel like I need to get an MLB package as I can't see the Mariners play today... who wants to cover an Oakland home game? zing again! :=: ...en fuego!

Awesome - go Mariners! I'm watching the Houston/SF game now. Lincecum is sharp... tried to pick him up on the fantasy team, no luck, also Kershaw with no luck.

But, ended up with Cliff Lee and Felix the Cat (again, Go Mariners!), Strasburg, and then a couple of decent pitchers to round it out.

I need Lee to get back in and Strasburg to come up... and it could be a good season. Bats need some improvement though - maybe for next season... although Rasmus had a good start.

I would have liked to, but I only had that free trial and my choices were limited. I will be as of tomorrow, I think it should kick in by then. Can't wait to see some central division games, gonna be some good close baseball I think. Saw the highlights of the game, Buehlre looked really good.

Today actually worked out, saw a bunch of ex yanks in action. Got to see Bruney pitch with the Nats, and saw Damon and Jackson in action with the Tigers.

Re: The Opening Day Thread

I'm just now catching the condensed game from Sunday where the Sox paddled the Yanks. The Yanks were really bringing it for the first 5. I'm excited to see how they managed to lose. My guess is that they relied too heavy on their pitching to do what they're supposed to.
I haven't looked at the pitching changes the Yanks made in the offseason. It's tough to bring all the same pitching back the next year with the level of talent they play against. Not sure if that's the case, but I'm gonna find out. :tu
