Cigar Bid
Is there a support group or maybe a 12 step program out there? I think I may need help.

Re: Cigar Bid
Same here. I've dropped a couple paychecks there since Feb.

Re: Cigar Bid
Get your fix by bidding really low. You may lose 95% of them, but you'll get the enjoyment of bidding and when you win it will be an awesome deal. See, problem solved in one step. :ss

Re: Cigar Bid
Have you're shipping address changed to mine. It won't be as much fun when you are buying cigars for me. For an added fee, I'll post pictures of me smoking your cigars.:r

There WAS a 12-step program, then some @%#?&*! bid it up to 14.:ss Seriously, tho, just stop logging on. Then you don't know what you're missing. I go many months at a time without peeking, then jump on with abandon, then jump off again. If you don't click on, you can't bid on 'em. |
Re: Cigar Bid
I've been logging on lately doing searches for lots that I know always go above retail just for sh*ts and giggles. Perfect examples are the Liga #9 sampler and the Oliva V sampler. 99.9% of the time they go for a good amount above CI's retail price. Funny how this thread came up as I was just showing my wife some ridiculous auctions over there.

Re: Cigar Bid
I just saw a single Tat series P go for $8 and on the same night I won a box of 31 Tat series P for $67.
Padron anniversary series always go for way more that you can buy them for on most sites. |
Re: Cigar Bid
Same here......but been "clean" for 2 months now! Wife really got on my ass so I just stopped going there for a while. Not to mention I didn't really have any place to put anything else. Both coolers are packed full to the top.

Re: Cigar Bid
I like cbid to try out the samplers. I'm still relatively new, so you just can't beat trying 5 different cigars from a company for $10 even if it is a bit hit or miss. Still... I find myself winning more lots than I should... and haven't logged on in a few weeks because of it.:tu

Re: Cigar Bid
I watch and watch and just never see these deals you all talk about. Most bids seem to hover at or above internet retail.

Re: Cigar Bid
People just get into pissing matches and like others said deals as of late are hard to find. I remember three, four years ago there were still pissing matches but you could still clean up more often than not.

Re: Cigar Bid
I just find the cheapest price online for a box of X, then I bid 20% or so less, and leave it at that... I loose most, but win some...

Quite often I find the best deals on the Quickies lots, probably because they're not open long enough for the prices to get jacked up. At least cbid has standard shipping rates, unlike eBay where you can get raped. Case in point: a while ago I was checking out some Softspikes. I found a guy selling 3 of the blister packs for what you'd normally pay for 1. These would easily fit in a small PM box, but he wanted ~$15 for shipping. Posted via Mobile Device |
Re: Cigar Bid
I've gotten two good deals in the last couple weeks, they are out there for sure. I try to only check cbid when I plan on buying a box, and I search to see if they have what I'm looking for, and put in a bid. If I get it for 20-50% less than even the lowest listed internet price, it's worth it. It seems like the prices get really bid up when people treat it like ebay, trying to snatch up boxes at the last minute rather than bidding like they should: early and low. I got a box of Padilla Miami torpedos for around $100 and a box of Perdomo Reserve Cameroons for around $80. You just can't beat the prices.

Re: Cigar Bid
Been mainly smoking my pipes for the last few years with the occasional cigar. I want to try more cigars this summer so I can find a few I like and stick with those. Been hitting Cbid hard for the last two months and got a lot a good deals on singles and five packs. That place is addicting.

Re: Cigar Bid
I got caught a couple times paying more than msrp, but I learned my lesson. Great deals can be had on boxes though. I got a box of padilla 1932 for 49 bucks one time and the 1964 as well. Sometimes there are auctions that slip through the cracks. I'm all stocked up for this summers smoking season though, now I gotta get some deals for winter......

Like others have said - there are some good box deals out there from time to time but you do have to watch out for bidding wars. |

I just wish they had a better selection.

Re: Cigar Bid
Since this was brought back from the dead anyways...
A couple days ago I put in a bid on a box of partagas just for the hell of it, thinking enough people would want them that I wasn't going to win. Naturally I won. I hope I like them. |
