New York Mets 2010 Banter
After much deliberation...I had to start this thread. Any other Mets fan out there? No comments from you Evil Empire folks (especially you Ryan :D).
The last few years have been rough for us. You gotta believe this year is gonna turn out better...but with no major off-season pitching acquisitions...we'll see. Santana cannot do it by himself. Time for Perez to start paying dividends on that $ 36 million contract...seeing that he has two years left. Go Mets!! |

Re: New York Mets 2010 Banter
Mets sign Rod Barajas to a one year deal. Another aging veteran. Haven't we learned our lesson?? At least it wasn't a multi-year deal. :D

Re: New York Mets 2010 Banter
I'm dying on the vine here with you kelmac. The good thing....no expectations this year. Should be fun.

To be serious, I think that if Reyes, Wright, and Bey can produce the way they are capable of doing, and Beltran comes back quickly and positively too, the Metropolitans should have enough offense to compete at the plate. But whereas most teams worry about a reliable 4th or 5th starter, Mac's team has to worry about everyone but Santana . . . and with his injury last season, he's not a given either. Sorry, my friend, but that's just the way I sees it. But still, :gl |

Re: New York Mets 2010 Banter
The Mets signed reliever Kiko Calero to a Minor League contract with an invitation to spring training...can't hurt the bullpen. And David Wright went yard in his first at bat of the spring...good sign!! Jose Reyes will see his first action tomorrow, against the Marlins. :tu I still like Reyes leading off...they want to tinker with him in the 3 hole.

Re: New York Mets 2010 Banter
I have done my best to not even visit this thread for fear of saying the wrong thing. Last thing I want to do is screw up and find myself on the DL. That is if there is any room left on it from the Mets. :r
Sorry Mac. |

I fear that Bay will be injured by the All-Star game. That is a lot of grass for him to cover in LF especially with Carlos out to start the season.

Re: New York Mets 2010 Banter
Mets beat the Nationals 6-5 today. Perez gives up 5 runs in 3 innings...thought thye fixed his head??? Santos looks good behind the plate this early.

Some of the local sports hosts up here on WFAN - who are almost all Met fans - are psyched because they feel the team may play .500 ball this year. :tu
Hey, Mac, don't hate me - I just report the facts. :) |

Re: New York Mets 2010 Banter
Mets drop one to the Astros today 8-4. On a not to great note here is Santanas pitchuing line... 1.2 innings, 6 hits, 4 earned runs. On a positive note, David Wright his his second dinger of the spring. Here's to hoping he has that power back this year in spacious Citifield.
|
Re: New York Mets 2010 Banter
I don't pay any attention to pitching stats in Spring Training. Batters are always ahead of hurlers early. Now, if he does that come June, you can panic.
