Labeling Cigars using Post-Its
Hi guys,
I want to keep track the year of my cigars and was thinking of labeling them using post-it. The only post-its that I found are colored. I understand there are cigar wrappers, but I figure the post-its are cheaper. My concern is that would the dye on the post-its tain the cigars over a long period of time? I looked at my neigborhood Staples and they did not have plain white post-its. Am I just too parnoid? |
Re: Labeling Cigars using Post-Its
If you want cheap, get from white printer paper, scissors and a glue stick. Works just fine.

Re: Labeling Cigars using Post-Its
If I want to label something (usually the year on CCs), I cut up index cards, write it out, and then put a small piece of tape around the index card on the bottom of the stick
I wouldn't put the sticky side of a post-it right on the wrapper.. aj |

Notebook paper is even cheaper. I use that with scotch tape when I label a cigar. Or sometimes on the cap with a fine point sharpie.

Re: Labeling Cigars using Post-Its
One of the B&Ms I frequent uses yellow Post-Its to put a scan label on uncello'd cigars. They wrap it so the paper side is against the wrapper, and then the sticky part is only in contact with paper.

Re: Labeling Cigars using Post-Its
I take a digital pic of stogies when I get them. Then I post to my flickr page with notes as to where they came from. Easily searchable and you don't have to open
the humi. Also, you'll have a record of things long after the sticks are ashes :ss |
Re: Labeling Cigars using Post-Its
Guess I'm the laziest....I just buy THESE and write on them before stickin' 'em to the cello.
And for those that aren't cello'd, I use the single stick baggies. |

Re: Labeling Cigars using Post-Its
Maybe my mind works a little weird.... but I know roughly when-abouts I put my cigars into the humis, and when-abouts they are good to smoke. Mind you, my collection is a little bit small right now, at under 100 sticks. I could see it getting to be a bit much to keep track of at 5 or 6 hundred smokes... But my Habanos boxes all have a date code on 'em anyways.

Take it to PM. The point was made and it was a GOOD one.

Re: Labeling Cigars using Post-Its
a point he could have made with a pm too Peter! And that is my point.
|
Re: Labeling Cigars using Post-Its
And my point is that, regardless of how it was delivered, you were given sound advice. If you had a problem with how the message was delivered, you should have taken the high road and PM'd him. (Lead by example, maybe?) Instead, you chose to do just what you criticized him for.

Re: Labeling Cigars using Post-Its
One thing i do is use the plain white labels, and then cover it with P-Touch labels.
http://www.chicaandjo.com/wp-content...abel_maker.jpg I do this because i find that the regular labels aren't strong enough, and i have horrible handwriting... The labelmaker was onsale at Staples for $15.. i think its a good touch. Beautiful cigars should have beautiful labels.. This pic is from a MAW i sent BlackIrish (sorry for the picture jack, hehe) http://i378.photobucket.com/albums/o...IMG_3691-1.jpg |
