ebay beads

Anyone ever use those Humi beads you can find on ebay for dirt cheap? Just wondering if they are any good.

Without knowing what type of beads you are referring to, it's hard to make an assessment.

Looks to me that you may be referring to Heartfelt Beads, who is a member here as well.

You should also head over to the New Inmate forum and introduce yourself.

Re: ebay beads

thanks for the advice. I have some from Heartfelt, but need to get some more. I saw a seller on ebay selling 1/2 pound bags for 5 bucks. All of the feedback from pervious sales of his/her beads were positive.

/shrug.

You get what you pay for....I would use someone whose feedback is from people I know and trust here. :2

:tpd: Nothing worse than trying to save a few $ on beads and having your cigars not getting the proper care...but we've all been there...don't skimp on the necessities for proper storage.:2

I agree with Tom, folks here have an endless amount of knowledge of everything cigar & cigar related. And, you can't do any better than Shilala's beads! Good luck either way.

Re: ebay beads

I have used cigarmony.com

Their beads are pretty good. I think they are pretty much the same ( heartfelt and cigarmony ) until you get to shilala's beads. I think his are clay based. None the less I would go with a reputable company for the few more dollars you would spend versus eBay's beads.

O ordered some Dry Mistat-like tubes from an eBay seller once. There were lot's of issues with the way they were packaged etc. but the seller had excellent customer service skills. I was happy in the end with the overall experience but still did not use his product.

I have found Heartfelt and Shilala beads to both be very effective. I think the Shilala beads are better overall due to the lack of maintenance.

I started w/ the cheapies from ebay. They worked for great for about 2 months then crapped out. Might as well get the ones that work.

Re: ebay beads

I use the Heartfelt Beads and couldn't be happier. Dave is a fellow cigar enthusiast and his customer service is unbeatable. He 100% guarantees you will be satisfied. Maintenance on the beads is very minimal and they keep my humi at a rock-steady 65% RH. I trust the beads more than my digital hygrometer.

I just ordered some heartfelt beads to go along with my Le Veil humidifier. Hoping they will keep spikes from occurring.

Re: ebay beads

The only beads I found listed on Ebay were from Cheap Humidors and $15 a half pound . I've only ever used Heartfelt and have no reason to switch , steady and dependable .

Been burned on Ebay, fortunately small $! Too many crooks on there to try and save a few bucks on something important. Ebay/****** "guarantee" = farse.:td

WOW!

What makes you guys think he has spent hundreds of dollars on sticks? If he is a newbie, and just starting out he is probably testing the waters, and why spend $30 on something if $5 can get you the same results? And as far as spending $5 to maintain them, up until "beads" were introduced most guys used green floral foam and PG solution to store their sticks... Ive never paid more than $5 for PG solution, have you?

Way to hit a new member over the head and feel welcome.

@ danreeve- to address your original question, I personally would not use eBay beads to store my cigars. I have used both Heartfelt and Shilala beads. I find that Shilala beads work better for ME, and they require less maintenance (no maintenance actually) than the Heartfelt beads. Both producers are members here, but you'll see Scott (Shilala) is more active.

us the Heartfelt or Shilala beads. The Ebay beads are nothing more than kitty litter.

I have been using Heartfelt 65% beads as well as many others in this thread and they have been holding rock solid for me. Go with the tried and true and be happy and keep those sticks happy

I had a very poor experience with Heartfelt and his product.

Re: ebay beads

Heartfelt has an ebay store where I've bought 1.5 lbs , I also bought .5lbs of the 5$ beads from another ebay seller and the difference is night to day in quality and dependability. Dave at Heartfelt makes a great product, gonna buy some of shilalas' beads for my next vino too.

Dan, that looks like it's the pearl kitty litter beads. There has been some debate on this posted here or either CS. Personally I would put my money on Shilala's beads or either Heartfelt. I have had both and am currently using all Shilala beads in my vinotemp and travel humis with no or almost no maintenance. You might spend a little more on Shilala beads but trust me they are well worth it and work better the others IMHO.

Ah heck Dan, I forgot when you are new, you don't have access to the WTB/WTS threads. I guess you have to keep posting and be patient and it will open up to you soon. I would PM Shilala if I were you.

Certain sub-forums are not accessible to new members. Be patient. doors will open in time.

You can always PM Shilala (http://www.cigarasylum.com/vb/member.php?u=261)

You haven't been here long enough to see the WTS Forums. Just send a PM to shilala (Scott), he will hook you up.
