Fred Armisen Must Die!
As I sit here watching SNL, it occurs to me that this "comedian" may be the least funny cast member ever to appear on the show. He must have some serious dirt on Lorne Michaels. I can't think of any other explanation as to how he keeps his job. [/rant]

Re: Fred Armisen Must Die!
You are obviously too young to remember Joe Piscopo. ;)

Re: Fred Armisen Must Die!
At least Joe Piscopo has a funny name.

Re: Fred Armisen Must Die!
How about Fred Savage...that kid was funny.
And Fred Durst....he was....oh never mind, he was just a douchenozzle. ;) |

She most certainly did. I heard she was engaged to Fred Armisen.

Re: Fred Armisen Must Die!
I just did a YouTube search on this guy Fred Armisen and I have to agree with Jeff. The guy is not funny. I would rather club a baby seal than watch him again.

Re: Fred Armisen Must Die!
It just struck me as ironic last night, Armisen did a bit a Weekend Update as an unfunny Native American comedian. That's like Paris Hilton in a groundbreaking role as an untalented, rich skank.

Re: Fred Armisen Must Die!
Is Saturday Night Live still on? I thought it got canceled when it ceased to be funny. What was that, 10 or 15 years ago? ;) I suppose Will Ferrell would have been an exception. Joe Piscopo always reminded me of something... I don't know what, exactly, but I wasn't fond of him then, either. Remember Johnny Dangerously?

Re: Fred Armisen Must Die!
It's funny how everyone derides whatever the current SNL is. The show has always been the same, one or two really funny bits crammed into 90 minutes. It was that way in the beginning and it's still that way now.
And I actually like Fred, I think the comedian bit he does on the news is hilarious. |
Re: Fred Armisen Must Die!
What I think is odd about SNL in its current configuration is that they don't seem to understand when a gag isn't working, or that it has turned into a 6 minute bit when it should have been 2, and even then it was running out of gas. It 's as if Lorne Michaels forgot how to find talent and all we get in return is the occasional chuckle in a sea of hackneyed skits that were worked to death in rehearsals, without someone saying "This isn't working, let's rewrite, or cut the hell out of it." I wonder if the writer/performer culture for the show is locked into a mutual appreciation society vicious circle. I understand that sometimes comedy fails, and in theater of any type, performances can vary, but you wonder if it will still be here in 5 years. A couple of buddies were chuckling about a skit from last week, quoting it last night. I just watched it.
"Ladies Bowling." I need to re-evaluate the possibility that my friends may have been huffing model glue. |

Re: Fred Armisen Must Die!
I've got to agree with Tom on this one. Quite a few good cast members have gone on to bigger and better things.
I think where the problem comes in, SNL has always been out there on the edge and do not pander to the masses. Not all the skits are going to appeal to everyone all the time, but when they are on and in line with your understanding of what they are satirizing, they are still the best out there with any kind of exposure. :2 |

I think some of her funniest bits have been on WU, like the "just kidding travel "expert," or the woman suffering from constant orgasms (Seth Myers: "Thanks for coming."). :r Posted via Mobile Device |

Re: Fred Armisen Must Die!
Ugh. Armisen in every sketch tonight (including that train wreck during Weekend Update) and your host, James Franco, also about as funny as a snuff film. If it wasn't so cold out, I could've had a smoke...

I love Kristen Wiig as that barbie-handed girl on the Lawrence Welk skit. Besides that, the show was pretty bad. |
Re: Fred Armisen Must Die!
Didn't see much funny last night. I actually tried to watch it, but gave up after weekend update.
|
Re: Fred Armisen Must Die!
Ugh. Armisen as Larry King in the opener. Luckily for Fred, the Grady Wilson (Kenan) and Sigourney Weaver "Fifty and Freaky" sketch kept my attention long enough to reconsider driving down to NYC and *****slapping him just for sh!ts and giggles. :r

Re: Fred Armisen Must Die!
This thread epitomizes exactly how I've always felt....... about Jimmy Fallon. But I will agree that Fred Armisen seems to bring down almost every sketch he's in.

Re: Fred Armisen Must Die!
Another unfunny cold open with Armisen. I'd really like to know what he has on Lorne Michaels.

OK, I'm in. Fred just isn't funny in the least.

I think reading your comments on him is the funniest part.
