Smoking in the Snow
I really wanna smoke, but it's snowing out. Not heavy, but a moderate fall.
Good/Bad Idea? |
Re: Smoking in the Snow
Years in Alaska taught me one thing: They only thing cold does to stop you from smoking is based on your own tolerance. Get a coat on and go smoke em! :tu

Re: Smoking in the Snow
with some gloves and thermal underwear, sure! I'd say do it, if you can find a place where the snow isn't actually falling on your cigar. just don't be surprised by split wrappers. Cigars tend to explode when it gets this cold.
It's supposed to get down in the 40's here tonight but I'll be damned if I can't smoke at least one cigar on my Saturday night. |
Re: Smoking in the Snow
It actually turned out pretty well. The only problem I had was my hand freezing, but other than that there were no major burn problems or the wrapper splitting. :tu

Re: Smoking in the Snow
How was the wet bench?:D

Re: Smoking in the Snow
Smoking in the snow is not fun for me, so I don't do it often, unless I am just really wanting a smoke...

Re: Smoking in the Snow
I think I might try the fire pit thing this winter . Wonder if there is any laws against it in my town . Guess I'll have to check it out first , or maybe not . :D

Re: Smoking in the Snow
Smoking in the snow will provide for some beautiful scenery while smoking.
|
Re: Smoking in the Snow
never had a problem.
Unless you count trying to smoke while attempting "Nosedive" at Winterplace....(a black diamond).....that didn't end up too well for the cigar...or me...:r |

Just make sure that you keep the smoke and light emissions down and you shouldn't have any problems with the empire. |
Re: Smoking in the Snow
I standa round some coals in the grill.

Re: Smoking in the Snow
I guess im a wimp/snob when it comes to smoking in the cold. For me, if I'm too cold, i cant enjoy a cigar. I'd rather sit in a b&M than huddle outside.
Of course, one of my top 3 smokes I ever had was sitting in my garage in -2 F weather with a LGC MdO #2... |

Re: Smoking in the Snow
I tried smoking the other night here. About 40* and that was too cold for me. I had to toss it after about 10 minutes. What a shame. I guess it's a lot about tolerance.

Re: Smoking in the Snow
No such thing as bad weather, just bad clothing. ;)

Re: Smoking in the Snow
Next time, just take the half hour drive to Azon.... :tu

Re: Smoking in the Snow
I smoked a lot last winter. Just beware of wrappers cracking.

Re: Smoking in the Snow
I smoke when I'm shoveling snow. Love it.
I chew on my cigars and get them all slobbery, so they generally go out halfway through, but I don't have to worry about cold hands. :) |
Re: Smoking in the Snow
I smoke sometimes in the garage in the winter. Not "warm" per se, but better than no cigar at all.
|
Re: Smoking in the Snow
I just moved out to the garage as well. I set up a chair, reading light, radio, and a propane heater. It warms it up enough to tolerate about an hour. I usually change to shorter and less RG smokes when it gets cold.

Re: Smoking in the Snow
My wife and I don't smoke in the house so when it starts getting to cold for the deck we move to the garage. Last year we found one of those parabolic heaters at costco or BJs and leave it on at night. It doesn't seem to be to bad on the elec. bill and makes you feel warm when your sitting in front of it. This year I told her I want a small tv to mount on the wall so it'll be a little nicer to sit out there for a cigar. I guess I 'm lucky in one way that my commute is 1 to 2 hr. so I get to smoke a stick in the morning and afternoon.:D
|
Re: Smoking in the Snow
I'm already missing the garage. :(
But I'm thinking of getting one of those Propane heaters for the deck. Between that and my good old Columbia jacket and fingerless gloves it might be doable. :tu |
Re: Smoking in the Snow
Just ran out of propane in my 20lb tank. Fill 'er up tomorrow and I'll be good to go.

Re: Smoking in the Snow
Throw on the Carhart, make a fresh pot of black coffee, plug in the portable DVD player with a box set (Sopranos, Deadwood, The Godfather...Any of these will do). Head out to the garage, and my Saturday mornings are all booked up this winter. Add a comfortable garage couch and it's just about as good as it gets. :banger ((except of course if it was 75 and sunny lol)

Re: Smoking in the Snow
Had my first snow smoke of the year this morning. A Don Lino Africa Duma. Had 2 so I gave one to a buddy and we gave 'em a try. Wasn't impressed at all. I rarely have to chuck a gar but neither of us liked it so we gave up after an inch.
I feel cheated so I'm going to spark up something else while shoveling the driveway. |
Re: Smoking in the Snow
We do okay in the garage...

Re: Smoking in the Snow
Yeah we have temps in the 20's or lower lately in Sooner land during the evening hours. I can smoke in the garage but the temperatures keep us from getting friends together to enjoy a stick. Should warm up again in ten days.
Perhaps the pub in Enid is a solution. |
