Ronson JetLite Torch Lighter
I was really surprised by this lighter. It's a very simple and basic lighter that gets the job done time after time. It lights up on first click. The top opens/closes very solid and crisp. It has all the standard features: adjustable flame, re-fill/purge port, etc.
It beats the hell out of my Nibo and other cheap lighters costing 2-4x as much. http://i465.photobucket.com/albums/r...s/IMG_2360.jpg http://i465.photobucket.com/albums/r...s/IMG_2363.jpg As you can see, this lighter is built like a TANK. http://i465.photobucket.com/albums/r...s/IMG_2366.jpg http://i465.photobucket.com/albums/r...s/IMG_2368.jpg Verdict: I've had mine for over a year now and I'm very happy with the lighter. It lights up every time. For $3-5, this is possibly the best lighter/deal out there. I picked up a few more for backup but I'm still using this one. If any of you guys don't have one, go out and get one. Hell, for the price get a couple. :tu |

Re: Ronson JetLite Torch Lighter
Awesome lighter. I have had mine for about three years now and I just cannot kill it! It takes beating after beating, gets scratched, dropped, and I always use cheap fluid and it continues to work. Great product with awesome durability. To top it off, I think I paid $1.98 for it!!

Re: Ronson JetLite Torch Lighter
They are great lighters. Not as fancy as the more expensive ones but they actually work. :tu

Re: Ronson JetLite Torch Lighter
Some Wal-Marts, CVS, and Wal-Greens carry them for $3-$5. I also found them at a WinCo Foods in Yuba City when I was there.

Re: Ronson JetLite Torch Lighter
I had a nibo pipe lighter, thing was a POS....I've got two of these and they work great, I even painted one, got the idea off a botl here. I keep meaning to get more

Re: Ronson JetLite Torch Lighter
Only downside to the JetLites is that you can't see how much fuel is left.

Re: Ronson JetLite Torch Lighter
Good lighter...I have a hand full! I suggest everyone have one even if it is a back up to their fancy lighter!

Re: Ronson JetLite Torch Lighter
You can find them at Wal*Mart but it is difficult. They are also the #1 lighter for crackheads and they sell out fast.

Re: Ronson JetLite Torch Lighter
Nice little lighters. Several 12-pack lots on ebay right now. Guessing that they'll actually go in the $30 range or under.

Re: Ronson JetLite Torch Lighter
I have had 3 different ones. All of them died within 2-3 months of usage. I use quadruple lava fuel, so it's not that. To me they have never been that great of a bargain. DE has some nicer looking clear tank models and they have lasted me years.

I used good fuel when I first started using mine too. Had some issues and read somewhere to just use Zippo fuel. Since changing they light first time every time :tu I have a dozen laying around all over the place so I never need to look too far for one. When one runs out I refill it and throw it back in a pile somewhere. Chas |

Re: Ronson JetLite Torch Lighter
Try filling it with butane, let sit upright awhile, then let the butane out through the filling valve. Hopefully this will purge it.

Re: Ronson JetLite Torch Lighter
Anyone from the Boston area know where to get some of these? I tried two Rite-Aids, CVS, numerous convenient stores, and even a military apparel shop and no one had them. I am trying to avoid going online and paying 3x the amount in shipping that others are paying at wal mart.

Re: Ronson JetLite Torch Lighter
I carry two on me at all times. Love them. My $50 Lotus broke, I gave it to my local B&M owner to have him send it in for warranty repair, and I haven't bothered to ask for it back :)

Captain53 thought I should try one and here's what happened.
http://i678.photobucket.com/albums/v...DSCI0174-1.jpg I thought this might be the appropriate spot to show off his handy work. This is what I get for asking questions! Thanks Dave, it works great! |
Re: Ronson JetLite Torch Lighter
Only issue I've had with one of these is using it in Estes Park, CO. 7500'+, took it down to a mile and it was fine again.

Re: Ronson JetLite Torch Lighter
I have a couple of these and they have worked great. Just using regular butane in them.
|
Re: Ronson JetLite Torch Lighter
I looked all over the place for them and finally found them for $3.00 a piece at Big Lots, here in Eastern North Carolna.

Re: Ronson JetLite Torch Lighter
Ouch picked one up today at Canadian Tire... $13. (joy of being a Canuck)
thanks for advice all ... still a great little lighter at that price. |
Re: Ronson JetLite Torch Lighter
Great lighter... I have a few on hand.
They always come on sale at Canadian Tire a around 5-6$. When they do, I always pick up a few. Will never fail you! |

Re: Ronson JetLite Torch Lighter
new to forums..just a question about refilling- I'm new to refilling butane lighters.
I followed a youtube video instruction- pushing the valve to release whatever air out first, then pumping the butane canister a few times into the lighter. My jet lite lights up again..but only on high. On low, it won't light up & I'm certain it maintained a smaller flame on low when it was new. Is this normal? Is this a sign I haven't filled it full? (when it was getting close to low..i noticed that it wouldn't light on low but still lit on high). I've purged & tried refilling a few times now with the same result. Just curious..thanks. |
Re: Ronson JetLite Torch Lighter
One thing I would say about purging is to make sure not to just let go of the valve after you hear the big release of gas. After that big release get your ear right up to the lighter and wait till you hear the soft hissing stop. That soft hissing is the key in purging a lighter because it is not the butane but the excess oxygen in the tank that prevents the fuel from mixing and lighting properly. I personally don't "pump" the canister into it as I feel that it can insert oxygen and not fill it completely. Instead I just press the canister firmly into the lighter until I hear it hissing from overfilling(typically just a few seconds into the filling, depends on size of tank) then release it and wait for a few minutes before attempting to light it again as the gas has to warm up to room temp before being effective. Also turning the lighter to "low" while purging/filling may aid you, then after it is warmed up and ready to go, you can turn it back up to your desired flame height. Hope this helps! And welcome to the forums!

Re: Ronson JetLite Torch Lighter
thanks. will keep that in mind as i refill again.
So, the jet lite 'should' produce a small flame on low right...not lighting on low is a sign of low fuel/improper refilling? |
Re: Ronson JetLite Torch Lighter
I've been searching for a Ronson locally, for about two weeks. I wound up buying the one lighter Walgreens had in stock, and it was an "Elite Brands"

What department are these in? I need to get one.

Re: Ronson JetLite Torch Lighter
I've been all over my town looking for a few of these guys so I don't have to worry about losing my more expensive lighter when I am out and about. Nothing yet, hopefully I'll come across one at some point and I'll probably grab a few in case I don't see them again.
