Wristwatch collectors out there?
Anyone? I've got into it some just looking for something to wear around work and for more formal occasions. Anyone got anything fun?
|
Re: Wristwatch collectors out there?
Right now I dont collect as I don't have the money but I love a nice watch. Ive got a Seiko Chronograph and a Kenneth Cole automatic movt with the moon phase, date, and hour dials, I love it.
|
Re: Wristwatch collectors out there?
I have a few watches from Kenneth Cole, Georgio Armani and Skagen. But I don't collect them I just seem to have aquired them somehow.
I do have a few Swatches from the eighties that are different to say the least! :D |
Re: Wristwatch collectors out there?
Not a collector, but love em just the same.
|
Re: Wristwatch collectors out there?
Maybe a rephrase, I certainly dont consider myself a collector but I certainly do enjoy them. I love the self winding automatics, such a cool sound when they are running
|
Re: Wristwatch collectors out there?
Omega. Seamaster, De Ville, and Constellation.
|
Re: Wristwatch collectors out there?
Im happy with my Breitling Crosswind.
|
Re: Wristwatch collectors out there?
Breitling B2 here. Love the watch- wear it everyday.
|
Re: Wristwatch collectors out there?
I've got a Breitling Navitimer and my grandfathers Patek Phillipe. The Patek is my best watch!
But for some reason I've been wearing a Frank Muller Conquistador Tourbillon Knock-off! Because I tend to bang them around at work. |
Re: Wristwatch collectors out there?
I don't really collect watches, but I have more than one now and I would love to have a couple more. So, I guess I could qualify as a collector. My everyday watch is a Breitling B-1 and my "special occassion" watch is a Breitling Montebrilliant Legende.
Earlier this week I was at a Breitling client appreciation dinner and was able to try on a couple of limited/special edition Breitlings including a Breitling for Bentley Flying B which was all yellow gold and diamond encrusted. I believe the retail value on that one was almost $200K. |
Re: Wristwatch collectors out there?
That dinner must have been quite some gala...
Glad that you could go.. 200K on your wrist.... whew.. I love to play off watches now and again. I seem to lease them as I turn them over fairly frequently.. I just had this Glycine Combat relumed at IWW. Wonderful watch. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v1...S/IMG_5693.jpg Hacks, winds, is automatic, glows nicely now. Tom |
Re: Wristwatch collectors out there?
Anything by Armani will do you well for day/night wear.

Re: Wristwatch collectors out there?
For dressier occassions, I have a Burberry Chrono. For daily use, I stick to my Timex!
|
Re: Wristwatch collectors out there?
I've got several lower end watches (michael Kors, Kenneth Cole, etc)
My goal is to buy a Breitling Super Avenger or Navitimer in the next year. Anyone get a slick deal on breitlings? |
Re: Wristwatch collectors out there?
I bought this Rolex Date on the old CS and haven't had it off my wrist since.

Re: Wristwatch collectors out there?
No big collection but I do love and appreciate fine watches. I do have 3 Hoyers (Pre-Tag) that I cherish but one of them no longer works and can't get parts. BOOO TAG, would not invest a large sum in one if they are not going to provide long-term parts availability.

Re: Wristwatch collectors out there?
I love my Omega Seamaster and wear it most of the time, but I have a Luminox Navy Seals that I wear as well

I wear a Tag Heuer Carrera Chrono every day - perfect for me!

Re: Wristwatch collectors out there?
I'm a wristwatch junkie...pocketwatches too, but for collecting, this is my only wristwatch that I would consider collectable. An original Elgin BW Raymond from the 60's. It's new old stock with original box, papers and the signed leather band. The band now is stiff from age and will crack if it's bent. Original price was 79.95.

My first (expensive) watch was a TAG, then Rolex, then Breitling. Considering the Anniversary moon watch from Omega right now. |
Re: Wristwatch collectors out there?
Rolex Datejust, 2-tone
Rolex GMT Master II Omega Speedmaster Cartier Tank Boliva Tank, 1943 14k rose gold Tissot T-touch Most purchased in the early 70's when wrist watches were much more affordable. Tissot is the newest but it's 5-6 years old and is my everyday watch. |

Next watch will probably be a Ball Engineer |
Re: Wristwatch collectors out there?
My everyday watch is a Citizen Titanium Chronograph (Solar Powered)
Had it for over 10 years and no batteries. I also have an older Pulsar Chronograph that I no longer wear. About 15 years old. I wear this one when we go out. http://cdn.overstock.com/images/products/P10674461.jpg I couldn't find pics of my other 2 watches. And the pic I tried taking with my phone looked blurry. Just realized all of my watches were gifts from my wife. 2 before we got married. And I have one that I received for my 5 year anniversary at work. I wear it when I don't want to break or lose me other watches. Not a bad looking watch, but it was free. |

Re: Wristwatch collectors out there?
The two watches I really want are a Rolex or something by the IWC.
|
Re: Wristwatch collectors out there?
I have a Breitling Colt GMT that I bought about 2 1/2 years ago, just after my divorce. Think I might have to replace it soon - getting married next summer.

Re: Wristwatch collectors out there?
Unfortunately I don't have the cash to be a collector of watches. Someday maybe because I love them. This one gets the most wrist time.
http://www.demesy.com/Merchant2/grap...0001/51560.jpg I also get quite a bit of wear from this one. http://www.mrwatch.com/thumbs/3105-160-260.jpg |

I bought this Oris a couple months back. With the rubber strap, it's very comfortable.

I have a 'Maurice Lacroix Les Classiques' |
Re: Wristwatch collectors out there?
nope. but someday I'd love a Patek ;)
|
Re: Wristwatch collectors out there?
Well, like i said, i just acquired my first breitling (super avenger). the next watch I buy will be a breitling Navitimer World, then a Corum Classical or Corum Admirals Cup 48. I really like Corum as well.
|
Re: Wristwatch collectors out there?
I've been wearing the same watch for 10 years now but I still think it's pretty cool. Raymond Weil W1. I think for my next one though I want something a little less chunky and more comfortable.

Re: Wristwatch collectors out there?
I currently own a Doxa Searambler.....I love dive watches and I have been through 30+ watches in the last 2 years (I flip). My favorites have been the Rolex Submariner, my 5 Doxas, Sinn U1, Ball Madcow, and the Longines Hydroconquest (great bang for the buck only about $900 new). Watches will drain your wallet quick!
|
Re: Wristwatch collectors out there?
^^^ I'm down with Doxa, very nice diver watches!
BTW, parshooter, where did you get that watch cabinet? |
Re: Wristwatch collectors out there?

Also go to Marshalls or TJ Max..they carry a lot of Kenneth Cole watches too. |
Re: Wristwatch collectors out there?
I'm in school, so not a collecter, but I do try to buy myself a new Citizen Eco Drive every other year or so. the current one has a pearl face with gold stripes on the bands and around the face
|
Re: Wristwatch collectors out there?
Parshooter how much did that top case cost? I'm looking one for myself...as for a watch this one is my favorite that was my 21st birthday present http://blog.breitlingsource.com/wp-c...racer_h400.jpg

Skagen definitely. I like how thin they are and really like the mesh bands. I have five of them. Not all good deals unfortunately. I've got a really nice CYMA that I received from the company I worked for at my 20 years of service party. |
Re: Wristwatch collectors out there?
We Do Collect Cigars, Right?:) Of Course we collect Watches!:tu I usually treat myself to a new watch every time we go on a cruise. I wear a TAG Tiger Woods Edition for dress and wear one of three for everyday, ( Casio G-Shock Solar Powered "My Most Reliable Watch!", Citizen Eco Drive, and my new fav., just purchased, Stainless "Guess WaterPro".:)

Re: Wristwatch collectors out there?
Bobby, I got the cabinet at Bombay Trading Co. They are in a mall near you.
Ucubed, the top case is a winder box. Not a good one, but it works most of the time. Got it at an on-line discount store. I ordered/paid for a smaller one, but they messed up so they sent me this one instead, I think it was about $130. A good winder is going to cost $$$. I would rather just shake my autos every morning and buy a couple nice boxes of cigars :tu |
